got this laptop a few months ago for around $1050 open box. it's got some good and bad qualities, but overall i think it's a really great deal for a pretty high end gaming laptop.
the good
- 1440p AND 165hz (3ms) display, most of the other options i saw when shopping only had one of the two. pretty small bezels, and good looking colors.
- stylish design, individually addressable RGB keyboard & underglow
- pretty good feeling keyboard
- sale/open box price can bring down cost a LOT.
the ehh
- 512gb ssd, a little small, but there's a whole second ssd slot that i was able to populate with a 1tb for mass storage
- comes with windows 11, i know not everyone is the biggest fan of win11 but it's easy to downgrade if you want, and you keep the included windows product key.
the bad
- runs HOT. and LOUD. when i got mine the fans were spinning up constantly and they were really loud. i recently found a solution that remedies this problem decently well. disable cpu boost. i did it through G-Helper, which i highly recommend as an open source alternative to control the laptops fans, power limits, etc.
- only 16gb ram (though easily upgradable)
as i mentioned, i pretty much immediately upgraded this laptop to 32gb of ram and added a 1tb ssd, but after these upgrades, this laptop turns into an even more capable machine for a pretty great price (when on sale or purchased at open box price)

First let me say this is a really good laptop if you can get it on a big sale at Best buy. I love the fact that AMD actually is competing now with Nvidia for gaming and we have a killer option here.
If you're not familiar with this GPU it's going to equivalent to a RTX 3070 and sometimes a rtx3800.
However there are a couple things that hold this laptop back from being amazing.
First for me it's ASUS. For whatever reason since his laptop has come out, it has issues with waking up from sleep. Be prepared to have to hard shut down and reboot the system if it goes into sleep mode majority of the time.
2nd there is no mux switch so without having this option you get a big hit in performance unless you hook it up to an external monitor.
Other than that you have an extra m.2 slot, two upgradable ram slots, a beautiful QHD screen and a really well built laptop.
Again if you can get this on sale I would highly recommend it.

Its an amazing laptop it works great and was quick but i returned it, it my first all amd laptop so i didnt understand most reviews and stuff i kept seeing that says shouldnt update certain stuff and if update something and the bios changes, you'll get less fps? That all was confusing to me but i really loved the laptop tho. It was beautiful and pretty quick. Loved it rbg. It definitely felt like it was between 3070 rtx and 3080. So definitely worth it especially when on sale.. but i returned cause i didnt want to pay 400$ for 3 year warranty. So just gonna save.

Sadly, I had to return my unit due to the display not working after about 2 weeks of gaming (half the time an external monitor was being used). Initially had some audio driver issues, fresh bios/driver reinstall from AMD's website solved those minor issues.
That being said - despite some people claiming they have had early issues, for the sale price this laptop is 100% UNBEATABLE performance wise for this little money. Replaced the ram with 32GB @3200mhz DDR4 (DDR5 not compatible) and I was getting more frames per second in Overwatch on Ultra graphics than my friends 3080 desktop - NOT even kidding. The 12GB 6800M in this thing paired with the 5980hx processor is an ABSOLUTE BEAST. Also, the display is GORGEOUS and sharp...I almost wanted to just play on it instead of my 27" QHD 165Hz Asus TUF monitor because it was sharper, however, you can keep the CPU and GPU at much lower temps with the laptop lid closed or monitor off and using an external display, which I did.
Really bummed I got a lemon, but considering Best Buy is a commonly found store in most cities and returns are easy with no questions asked and it's currently an extended holiday return period....it's worth taking the dive to get this laptop for cheap and 95% of you guys will get a beast that is reliable. I opted to dish out twice the cash for the Corsair Voyager that has the same 6800M in it...I guess I'm an AMD fanboy lol.

The cooling fan is surprising quiet compared to other gaming laptops. Specs are top notch and still a fantastic machine after 2 years of use, still a competitive laptop in 2024 considering that it is close to or even slightly better than a 4070m.

I'm very happy with my purchase, was exactly as I expected. Very nice specs for the price even when not on sale. I haven't had the wi fi problems others have reported. The body of the laptop is very solid and the keyboard while obviously not like a mechanical keyboard, feels nice enough, not bad at all. Games like Returnal and Spider man run smoothly. Fans are loud when gaming, but that's to be expected on a gaming laptop. Glad I did my research. Highly recommend.

I like this computer so far. I don't really play AAA games but at least for the lighter games like League of Legends, GTA V, Fallout 4, and Diablo II Resurrected, it runs perfectly well with 4K high settings.
Battery life is great. It lasts about 5-7 hours with 90% brightness for web browsing and office work. Maybe longer with less brightness and background apps. I never played games on battery mode, but I’m sure it’d be pretty bad just as any other gaming laptop (I assume less than 2 hours).
It gets pretty hot, and fans get loud if you play heavy games, but I always connect this computer to an external monitor, so the hot keyboard is not a problem for me. Silent mode is definitely recommended when you are not playing games. It doesn’t get hot at all, and the fan almost never runs in silent mode.
The screen is nothing special. It’s just an average gaming laptop level display with a 165 Hz refresh rate. It might be hard to use it outside since the screen is not that bright, but it’s okay for inside.
Ram is DDR4 16G and I have no complaints about that. I know every gaming laptop company now uses DDR5 ram, but so far, I never noticed any lagging or ram shortages.
The speakers are not bad. I mostly use my headphones. I would say they are just on average level.
The only two complaints about this computer are:
1. It has no webcam.
2. AMD graphics. In addition to not having DLSS and ray tracing support, I think AMD graphic cards have so many minor bugs compared to NVIDIA graphics cards. Every once a while, when you open the display setting or taskbar setting to change brightness, it freezes for 1 second. I don’t know why it does that but I'm kinda used to it now. It’s only for one second and doesn’t always do that. It never freezes or stutters when you play games. I guess that’s the most important part of a gaming laptop, but I would definitely choose NVIDIA over Radeon.
Since it’s been out for two years, I would recommend you buy it only when it’s on sale. I paid around $930 with a sale. Otherwise, I would rather wait and get the new versions with RTX 40 series.

I was looking to upgrade from my Ryzen 3800x/RTX 2080 desktop build to a new desktop but pricing with current gen GPUs was making things a little out of budget. This laptop had great CPU and GPU combo and for the price, will tide me over until the next generation to build my new desktop. It runs games great and looks great on the 1440p. Fans aren't as loud as I thought they might be on full load. Very happy with my purchase.

Probably the most versatile and powerful laptop I have ever owned. Definitely an amazingly fast and capable laptop. I have been using it with the Smokeless BIOS to tune my RAM timings and CPU. I can say for sure that finding dual rank RAM is worth the upgrade if you do not get it included with this. However, every single retailer and online store makes it almost impossible to determine if what you order is dual rank or not. Outside of that mine undervolted well, the laptop does manage to keep relatively cool playing games. Destiny 2 is the only game I have tested with so far but I average about 100FPS lows in the 80s and up to 120 at 1440p. Overall for a laptop coming up on 3 years old truthfully I'd buy an all AMD laptop again assuming I could access the BIOS to tune memory and CPU settings. The fact that those are hidden on most laptops is a travesty and takes away a lot of the the power control that is possible. I do use this for dual boot as well. I run Debian Linux Unstable for the latest power saving commits for AMD in the kernel 6.4 and higher offer the built in power saving features. You can get it earlier by patching but it is just as easy for me to run the 6.4 kernel on a later Debian version. Overall, super happy with the laptop. By far a power user's dream considering you can control CPU and GPU power draw for each task with Armory Crate, GHelper or Smokeless BIOS tuning. I know this laptop is 2ish years old but it is still more than capable with today's games. Very glad I got this!

Yeah, I love this computer but you gotta make sure you do your your upgrades straight from the rising AMD website and the radon RX 68M website from AMD because it doesn’t do the auto updates automatically so for star link I had to go on and do the updates manually but other than the manual updates that was the only issues I’ve had with this this computer is a beast for the Price you can’t go wrong I would think about upgrading the memory to 32 that’s what I did and it’s freaking awesome. I love the PC the lights on it are great it’s got the 3 ms timing on first person shooter which is great. It is 165 Hz on the screen which is more than enough you really don’t need the 240 on the laptop I mean how much do you really use and I and I have a LG TV 65 inch that I usually be this thing to and it comes in really good but yeah if you know how to use computers this thing is a beast. I AMD rise and radon RX 6800 M and you know 512 GB SSD with a 16 gig memory for you know 1000 bucks that you can’t go wrong with that.

Extremely good performance for the price. Use a USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort cable to bypass the integrated graphics card and get much higher fps. The ram is easy to upgrade (upgraded it with no problems to a 32 GB TimeTec kit) and so is the storage. For an extra $150 of upgrades and bypassing the iGPU, you'll have a very high-end gaming laptop for an excellent price.

Awesome laptop out of the box with great temperatures at idle (40-45). Playing Forza 5 at Ultra settings at 1080p and temps are around 70-75. Upgraded the RAM to 32GB and added a 1TB SSD in the open slot before running benchmark. Purchased on sale for 1100, an absolute homerun for dollar to performance ratio!

If you're lucky enough to own this you know how under rated and massively powered this system is. I absolutely love it even preferring it over a newer 3,000$ plus system I have. It just simply churns through AAA+ like nothing with great frames, and has a great feel and build to it. Great ASUS when they put themeselves to it they can put out good products still. Hope they keep that up.

Pretty good. Definitely needed an upgrade from my PC with an RX 480. Was originally playing at low settings with average frame of 40-50 fps, but I am now hitting average 60 frames on max settings. M.2 SSD upgrade does make a difference. I have a freesync monitor but I have yet to test if that had any improvements in frames.

After watching countless videos on gaming laptops and comparing the specifications of each this laptop by far is up there as one of the best. The laptop looks great with the RGB strip at the bottom and the keyboard. I’ve mainly been playing FPS games on this laptop and have not been disappointed. If you are thinking of buying this laptop, don’t. It’s a no brained.
