Product Rushed To Market, Not Worth The Money

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Wi-Fi 7 Asus BE-92 Nano USB Adapter to install on a Windows 11 Pro Desktop. This was bought to be paired with the Wi-Fi 7 Asus Router BE-96U where I had hoped to take advantage of 6 GHz wi-fi band frequency. It's pretty evident that Asus rushed this product to market so they could be the "first" to offer a Wi-Fi 7 USB Adapter but it seriously falls short of expectations given its current $70 USD price point. The adapter defaults to Wi-Fi 6 Mode and will only connect via the 2.4 GHz frequency despite this computer running Windows 11. Speeds are at max of 100 mbps. Just for kicks, I moved the desktop right next to the router to see if it picks up the 6 GHz signal; it will not. I'm seriously disappointed as there are Wi-Fi 5 USB Adapters way cheaper than this that get better and higher speeds than this adapter. Prior to this adapter, I had a 8 year old Linksys WUSB6400M that used to average 200 mbps. This product does work, but frankly for the money, there are so many better alternatives out there. If this was priced under $40, maybe my rating would be higher but unless you're beholden to the Asus Brand, look elsewhere. Only thing I noticed is it shows up as a WiFi 6 adapter in system info for some reason. I checked with support, and they promised a driver update soon to fix it. Overall, works great and easy to set up.

I've moved this around between a couple of systems that needed temporary network access when the local lan wasn't available. Quick and easy, performance so far has been great!

The laptop shipped with a Wi-Fi 6 AX200 adaptor, but I wanted to enjoy the fast speeds with my new Asus Zenwifi BQ16 Pro Mesh system. I dowloaded driver from the Asus support site and installed the BE6500 adapter in the USB drive. I then installed the latest driver. I then went to the control panel and disabled the Wi-Fi 6 adapter and configured the BE6500. I am very happy with the results and have been getting consistent 2.8Gbps speeds. I would recommend to anyone wanting to upgrade their Windows 11 laptop to Wi-Fi 7.

This WiFi USB dongle is literally Plug & Play, it works like a dream, and was very affordable!
