AWESOME LAPTOP!!!

This laptop is fast and very clean looking for a simple non 2-in-1 laptop. I already bought my son a 14" Yoga 710 about 2 years ago and love it but I really didn't need a touch screen or tablet style laptop for myself. I did some research on many laptops needing to upgrade my 10 year ASUS. I was reluctant at first since there were no reviews yet on this model. I took the chance and boy am I glad I did.
- Great processor with the Ryzen 7 4700U with 8 MB ram upgradable to 16 (which I will do later if needed).
- The fingerprint sensor is great for instant login to Windows 10. I am not a big Cortana fan but its fun to play with it for certain commands (set it to on demand only).
- The screen is Full HD 1920 x 1080 @ 15.6" size which is prefect for me. I don't plan on taking my laptop out of the house too many times, but when I do, I want a good size screen. There were some reviews online about the screen being too dark and believe me, that's not the case at all. The screen only dims on battery power to conserve battery life and I ran the laptop all day about 10 hours on battery without issues.
- Wifi works fast with good USB and HDMI connections available. - This keyboard is comfortable and smooth with number pad. - ---- Touchpad is smooth and responsive as well.
- Its also so much lighter than I expected. The case is not aluminum like some other models are using, but honestly, it feels and looks good with the Indie Black finish.
I consider myself a techie. I used to overclock AMD back in the day and push cooling, etc. Processors became more reliable and fast as well as run cooler while running heavy applications like gaming and video editing. I actually went over to the Intel side for desktops but stayed with AMD for mobile processors. I am impressed with the RYZEN 7 series AMD processors. Check out the comparisons to Intel i7 and see that this one beats it out in almost all categories at a lower price point by a big margin in some cases.
On this particular model, they did offset lower 8 MB memory with a much larger 1 TB M.2 SSD Drive which is not a easy combination to find. Most laptops are offering 256 GB or 512 GB which might be ok for most but the operating system plus 5 different large programs will take a good portion of the smaller 256 GB. The 512 GB would be better to lean towards but this one hit the sweet spot for me.
I highly recommend this laptop for its value and performance. ASUS brand has been good to me for years.

Great Work Laptop with Great Hardware

Excellent hardware specifications and performance. No issues so far (about 5 weeks). It is small and light for a 15.6" screen, the touchpad seems just right, wi-fi is fast and stable, the fingerprint reader is fast, and the fan is fairly quiet when it runs (which it rarely needs to). I also like the keyboard feel and the small power supply. The display out of box was disappointing (a bit dull), and I considered returning it, but it was greatly improved using the Radeon software. Disabling Vari-Bright and Color Temperature Control (with Custom Color enabled) helped brighten the display and improved color saturation. You can adjust color as well, or use Color Calibration in Windows (which also helped). The panel in this model does have slightly better specs than the panel used in the Intel-based VivoBooks, but none at this price point have full color range, so it is not good for critical photo editing (unless connected to a good monitor). I also discovered that the on-board Radeon graphics includes 512mb of dedicated memory, a plus. It is not a gaming machine, but works great for MS Office, e-mail and Internet tasks. I did deduct one star because the webcam requires good light or it will provide a noisy image. I have read that this is common in laptops in this price range.
One thing to watch out for on any new Windows 10 computer is OneDrive, which is baked into Windows 10. Consider your options carefully before enabling OneDrive during setup! If you already have another Windows 10 computer and activate OneDrive on a new computer using the same MS account, be prepared to have everything in the Documents folder on your other computer moved to the cloud and shared between the two, even if you had not set up OneDrive that way on that computer! Backup your files to a portable HDD or SSD before using OneDrive! Not unique to this computer or to ASUS, just be warned!

Beautifully designed 2 & 1 laptop. Boots to the desktop in less than 30 seconds. The touch screen pen that comes with it works exceptionally well. One of the fastest laptops on the market for the price. I am very impressed with the AMD Ryzen 7, 8-core processor. I would definitely recommend this laptop, even at full price.

Have had it now for almost a month now.
Does what I need it to do for browsing and checking emails. This is my first laptop/PC with a SSD and start up is really quick. I don't game so wasn't looking for something with high specs. Was skeptical at first going with AMD processor with previous bad experience before with major slow downs after time but heard how AMD has improved a lot.
Cons so far are that it is a HUGE Fingerprint magnet and screen is not very good in well lit areas with brightness flushing out the screen

I love this laptop. After struggling with a slow laggy really old one for years, this one is a dream. Also really love that it didn't come with all kinds of crapware installed like the Walmart ones. Thanks!
