It's an ok laptop, fast enough to multi task with open websites at the same time. Large screen great for editing videos. Screen quality is so..so.... The sound is bad, hardly hear it....The keys on the keyboard is hard to see on certain times and lighting. But u guess for the price i am ok with this laptop

    Good laptop

This is a good laptop. The positives are the screen size, speed and storage. Its a sturdy feeling laptop with good hardware. Battery longevity seems to be pretty good. The negatives are the contrast of the keyboard buttons vs the color of the printed letters on the bottons. The keyboard does not have a backlight. The screen is not full 1080 HD. For the price I rate it as a good laptop on a BAD-GOOD-EXCELLENT scale. I would recommend this laptop to a freind depending on intended usage.

Very good computer for the money. Works really well with Windows OS (runs smoothly). I am a software engineer, and use the computer to work. You can have multiple programs running at the same time. Secondary memory (SSD) access is pretty quick, and space is plenty. I tested the processor with a very simple benchmark (not rigorous at all), but it seems to be about 3.5 times faster than a 7th generation i5 that I had, in general. There are indeed much faster computers out there, but this one really satisfied me for the price. Note: I had some problems with wi-fi firmware in the linux-based OS's that I tested (Linux Mint, Fedora and Ubuntu). In the end, I had to use a ethernet cable and adapter to manually download it, but it is working fine now. Finally (for those that plan to run Ubuntu or a similar system on it), this is probably a software issue from Ubuntu's side, nothing to do with the laptop itself, but the Bluetooth service sometimes crashes and the whole computer starts doing weird things, as of time of writing.

    Amazing Strengths, Detrimental Weaknesses

This laptop is really good at some things, but detrimentally poor in others. The computer runs smoothly and is great for multitasking, amazing at it. It's screen is large and gets quite bright, but the quality is slightly above average, nothing great but passible since everything can be seen clearly. The speakers? May as well not have any, there has to be dead silence for you to hear anything. However, here is the worst part *ATTENTION*... the battery life is terrible, expect to have your laptop connected pretty much at all times, the battery life doesnt last long at all. To be fair, I've never had problems with the laptop overheating, it rarley gets hot (even when using while charging). I'll be honest, this laptop is great, but if I knew the battery life was this bad I would have thought twice about getting it. Good luck.

Pros: Laptop boots up fast. The screen is fairly large. Capable of running several programs and browser tabs open at same time without any significant slowdown. Cons: Terrible camera. The screen is hard to see unless you have it at the right angle. Heats up fast. Fairly expensive. Overall good laptop, recommend purchasing it while it’s on sale, otherwise might be too expensive.

I got it for my sister... she loves it and it been working since I gave it to her. she uses it for business so it crucial that it does not fail, so far so good in about 10 months of usage the price was attractive for the pecs and I have to admit that it is pretty fast... if you are going to buy a notebook DO NOT BUY ONE WITH A MECHANICAL HARD DRIVE. SSD means Solid State Drive, that and as much RAM as you can but 8 GB at a minimum is what I suggest

I was looking for a faster laptop with a bigger screen for under a thousand dollars. This seems to fit the bill. I have never worked with ASUS before but for the price I was willing to give it a go. Before I get into the laptop itself, I just wanted to comment how impressed I was with the packaging of the computer. There was plenty of packing to keep the laptop secure and the box was in a plain brown box so nobody knew what it was. I really appreciated that. The laptop comes with a charger, warranty and a brief pamphlet that simply tells you how to hook up your charger and open your computer. There are SO many keys on this keyboard I don't know what they're used for. It would have been nice if they had a break down of all the components of this laptop and helpful tips. Thankfully, this isn't my first time setting up a laptop with windows, but if you're new to this or not tech savvy... find someone who will do it for you. It was a pain, but I mainly blame Microsoft for that. The webcam/microphone is not the best quality. It is a huge disappointment, but it will work if you HAVE to use it. The picture quality of this laptop seems very transparent to me for some reason. The colors aren't very bright/dark as I am use to with my other laptops. I don't know if that is because of the brand or what. If you are looking for a laptop with super graphics... this isn't it. I imagine that has to do with being more budget friendly. The battery life isn't great, but it isn't horrible. I would say it is about normal. The charger is smaller than I am use to (which is nice) but it does get really hot really fast. The laptop also has hot spots. When I'm downloading something it does sound really, really loud. My old laptop did that so I just assume that is what laptops do. They get hot and run loudly sometimes when you're working. The mouse pad hasn't given me any problems. It works very well. I just prefer using a wireless mouse. The keyboard doesn't light up. It is harder to see at night, but not a huge deal breaker for me. Overall, I am happy with it and it suits my needs for now.

I've only had the laptop a few weeks. Geek Squad set it up for me well. The ASUS starts up nicely. I was able to connect to my printer via Wi-Fi fine. I connected a Bluetooth device fine. I've connected to the internet via Wi-Fi fine. So far my only disappointment is that the keyboard is difficult to see the keys, especially the F keys. I'm not the best typer. Gray lettering on the gray keyboard provides little contrast to see well. The laptop lies very flat and I prefer to support it from the rear to get a little tilt.

I bought this laptop because of the SSD drive, my top priority. The 16GB Memory was also something I wanted. The machine is light and the screen size is excellent. While not quite as vivid as my old HP, the screen is certainly if acceptable. The best part is something that is often overlooked...placement of the ports! On my old laptop, the USB port on the right side was so low that I had a big issue using my mouse. No problem with the ASUS! Ports and other access points on both sides are high enough so that cables are out of the way...and I can use my mouse without fighting the USB connector sticking out from the port. Brilliant! The keyboard feels good and I never used a backlit keyboard anyway, so I don't miss that feature. There are no issues with speaker drivers as I found on my older computer, although I do use external speakers because my hearing is "old." I am still running an Asus desktop PC that I bought in 2013 and it has always been reliable. So, when it was time for a new laptop, I hunted down an Asus. This model is a much better buy than a comparable machine that I looked at. I discussed this machine with my brother who was looking for a new laptop and he bought one, too, and he's also very happy with it.

You would think 16gig ram. 1 tb ssd sounds good. Then i find out its only 1.3ghz processor. Not happy about that. Especially when it is not stated in specs or description of product. Cant play any game that are more complicated than solitaire. Just a very expensive chrome book. Cant do any more tha. Chrome bk. Except cost 4 times more.

      Dear Tjcr,

We certainly understand your concern about the CPU speed showing 1.3GHz.

The advertised information regarding the CPU is correct. The Intel i7-1065G7 processor has a base frequency speed of 1.3 GHz and maximum turbo frequency speed of 3.90 GHz. At idle mode the default CPU speed will show 1.30 GHz. The laptop is not a gaming computer but it will play games if the unit meets the game system requirements and just ensure Windows is up to date.

I love this laptop! Has many features that make managing my company go smoother. Being able to store everything in one place and it be easily acceptable is AMAZING! The S Mode is the only frustration I have. Where is I got the laptop specifically for that because of all of my business information is in my laptop so I thought more secure the better however I had to get new printer and a scanner things like that to accommodate for the S mode. I thought I researched it pretty well but somehow missed that I was not gonna be able to use 90% of the apps or get to the websites that I need to do to security reasons so it’s a little frustrating trying to get around that but I can appreciate them trying to block me from going into something that is unsafe.
