With a house full of wire-free devices additional performance was needed. Also with number of the Wifi devices running 5Mhz it was time to upgrade. I have 3 floor (basement) and 2700 sqft and the device fills the house even in a not so central location. Easy to setup, easy to maintain (new levels of security) and I also dropped that 1 TB USB 3.0 drive for storage onto it and I have all I need in a home router for some time.

Purchased this device because my old router was dead. Did not want another Netgear and was familiar with this brand name. Easy setup out of the box. Liked the fact that I could setup multiple accounts to access the router (so I could create accounts for friends and guests the remove or change password and not effect any of my devices) it has better range and faster than my old router. In short good buy and easy setup

Bought this in Rochester NY area. First one lasted about 27 hours and then stopped working. Was a bit baffled due to the great reviews of this and other Asus routers. Took it back to the store and exchanged for another one. Have had no issues since. Up and running for over 2 months now.
Very fast throughput. Have had multiple devices streaming internet feeds at the same time, some devices running more than one. Since my IP connection is about 20MB/s this will bog down long before the router throughput would be reached (Router has much higher throughput than the internet connection).
It has a great user / web interface that is easy to go through and set up. It can be changed out for alternative O/S's if desired (States in the instructions). I have not done this on this router, but have on an older wrt54g. The alternates have alot more options, but since the installed O/S suits my needs, why screw with it!
I have not set up the cloud drive as I use a NAS system, but it is a nice feature to have (I used on an older linksys before the NAS).
Range seems to be good, though I do live in a smaller ranch style home. My tablet does connect OK while pulling into the driveway when getting home from work. When summer gets here, I will play more with that feature as I like to stream radio outdoors (Way to cold here now!).
Just a note for those who are comparing models... This router is not the same found online at other retailers, it is specific to BB. Note the "P" on the end of the model number. Other retailers and online stores have a "U" or "W" at the end of the model number. The CPU is slightly different and rated slightly faster (GHz).
If you are looking for a fast router with lots of features, this one is a great pick! If you are not into the need for speed and are just doing basic web surfing and email, not streaming music and videos or other things that require alot of bandwidth (Several users etc), then save your money for something that better fits your needs. Do remember you get what you pay for, buy cheap, get cheap. I have been running on older routers for years and upgraded to this due to aging and slowly dying equipment. This is like going from a little compact car to Cadillac Escalade as far as features and quality goes, but to me, worth the change as my older equipment just wasn't handling the throughput without having to be rebooted daily, sometimes several times a day.
If you buy it, enjoy it! A great product in my opinion.

This router has worked flawlessly since I first connected it 2 months ago. Set-up was a breeze, and the user interface is excellent. I have used nothing but Linksys routers for nearly 15 years and always thought they were pretty good. However, my last one seemed like a bit of a lemon and now that Linksys is under Belkin, I decided to give this Asus a try. I'm really glad I did. The interface is way better then the outdated stuff from Linksys, and everything just works the way it should. It's been very stable and I have not needed to restart it since I installed it 2 months ago. The build quality seems excellent, and the coverage is great. I very a very strong signal throughout the house, upstairs and downstairs. A+

I am new to setting up a network but, was tired of the service installs from network providers and the equipment that left me wondering? It seemed that I really did not get the performance that they promised? And/or it was limiting access and capabilities below what I was paying for? So I did some research on routers and based on what was available in my area(service, mbps) and price I thought this particular model was the right choice.
I have not been disappointed, it was easy to set up and I was able to access the GUI and make changes according to my needs and have not had a problem doing so even though I have very little knowledge in networking.
I usually have three devices running at a time, never have access problems, speed is faster than my devices...must upgrade so I
can actually use what performance I have available : )

I bought this router to upgrade an older dlink wireless n. The setup was easy and straightforward. Wireless signal, strength and speed are great. No drops from my devices. My cell phone is only device so far to use the new ac protocol. I've had this router for a few months now and am very happy with it.

I was surprise by the difference in speed and coverage. I had an old Belkin router which was 10 years old and, really, wasn't expecting much of an improvement. Man was I stunned and impressed by the performance. The coverage area was doubled and the speed was almost tripled. I have Time Warner for provider. When I downloaded data I went from 1 MB/sec to 4 MB/sec. I did my research like I do with everything I buy and this router was always in the top five and most times it was the top rated router. Definitely a must buy—you won’t be disappointed.

I bought this router to replace an older ASUS router that just wasn't pushing good signal through my entire house. This thing is a monster though. I've got it in my basement, and I still get clean, steady signal all the way upstairs (2nd story, or two floors up from the basement).
Not only do I get solid 2.4 gHz, but the 5 gHz signal also comes through full-speed. I'm getting over 60 Mbps on 5 gHz wireless on our second floor with the router in the basement!
It's a big deal. :-)
The setup was pretty easy, but the firmware it ships with is a little buggy. I definitely recommend grabbing the latest from ASUS (use their website, not the update feature in the router firmware, as it doesn't seem to find the file).

I've only had this router for a month now, so I can't definitively give a complete review. I have noticed that the router signal strength is stronger & more even than the last router I had. We have a ranch style home that is over 60' from the office where this router is to the room on the other side of the house where my daughter lives. I had to buy a wifi "repeater" to put in the middle of the house, but the last router had a hard time maintaining signal strength for the 30 - 35' distance. This router has no trouble at all providing a strong signal over that distance. We needed to get something of this caliber for my grandson to be able to do his video recording & streaming.
Performance is reliable & steady; don't have to concern myself w/ it at all. The last couple of wifi routers I owned degraded over a few months time. I'll wait a few months then report back. If all continues to go well I'll probably up my rating to a 5.
Price is a little steep, but hopefully it will pay off over the long haul.

Instant setup. Plugged it in, followed a few steps and bang. Still using stock firmware. This router SAVED MY BACON too. Running WinXP, have a 5TB seagate expansion drive that WinXP doesn't recognize (its too big). Plugged the drive into the USB3 port on the back of this router and enabled DLNA, went to My Network Places on WinXP, and BINGO, there it was, all glorious 5TB. Backed up my XP HD before OS upgrade. FAST too. My Android LG4 has clocked up to 433mbs. NOTE: Router placement is CRUCIAL (and ASUS says so up front). 5ghz signal gets weak after going through a few walls. Make sure you put it in a place with the fewest obstructions if you can.

This product was top rated and lived up to it. Easy to install and setup. I used this to cover the other side of my house and now I get coverage at my outside pool. I have Verizon and used their router for DHCP. Highly recommend. GREAT RANGE. Dual band is awesome; however, it is not obvious what speed my devices are capable of. Ran Ookla speed test and got max speed from every connected device and no more dropouts. Only tricky thing was antenna orientation should be mode detailed as the end ones need to be oriented at 45 deg in opposite directions and planes. The picture on the box says it best.

Its exactly as shown on the box, easy setup, good strong coverage area, built in firewall, the anti DoS work very well as well. I did not mess with the child protection. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it.

If I had known that my network would have become so much better after hooking up this router, then I would have bought it a long time ago. My previous router was dropping out all the time, I was having to power boot it every other day. I chose this router because of good reviews on every website that I checked, especially cnet who had it as the best buy. I am amazed at how much more range this has than my wireless n router, and how easy to set up it is. I intend on hooking up my external hard drive as a cloud set up, but haven't done it yet.
