The larger hard drive and increased RAM came with a larger screen and more advanced I5 microprocessor than my wife's 6+ year old laptop. Other reviewer complaints about screen flickering were not experienced but would have been solvable by exchange at Best Buy in any event. All for under $500 made it a no brained Bday gift.

had an old hp with a intel core duo, wanted a new, faster one, was admant that the new one would have at least a intel i5 or better and a 17 inch screen, looked around and saw that they were going for about $800, couldn't bring myself to spend that much since i only use it for googling things, not much else, then found this one, and bought it, been very happy with it, and was pleased to be able to get 17 inch, i5 core for under $500, the only thing is the keyboard, it flexes, thought about returning it, but there's no other 17 inch with i5 core this cheap, so ended up keeping it, it has worked well for me, no issues

This Asus Laptop is a serious contender for what you need to do! My wife just love's this Laptop, as it has plenty of speed with Intel's i5 Processor, 8 megs of ram, and the 1 Terabyte hard drive, which is plenty of space for all of her Interior Design layouts which she does everyday for her clients. The 17 inch screen size is amazing, and the price was fantastic at BestBuy! Windows 10 is also a nice touch and easy to work with. I have really nothing negative to say about this Asus Laptop, as it is very solid and worth every penny!

Love my new Asus computer! After reading some of the reviews about getting 'kicked out' in the middle of projects or searches, I was a little leary, but I've experienced none of those issues. The keyboard design is adequate and the processor is fast so I'm not wasting time waiting. Since I don't plan to carry it around with me, I'm loving the 17" screen. And the price fit my budget!

I did a lot of research on this computer and finally got a good deal on it as open box item. I'm satisfied with it for the most part. It has three USB 3.0 slots, HDMI, and a VGA Port as well as CD drive. The big screen looks nice. The camera seems to work well, but the microphone picks up more noise like mouse clicks or tapping than voice. It could be more of a Skype issue though. My speakers were buzzing at first, even at low volume. Opening it up showed that a ribbon cable was laying across a speaker. Moved it a bit and now speakers don't buzz. Other reviews mentioned the keyboard feeling cheap, and after typing this, I can agree more than I thought I would. The left and right click buttons are combined into the touchpad. I like how you can press the entire touchpad like a button to click but I prefer the left and right click buttons to be separate from the touchpad space. I usually use another keyboard and mouse anyway. 1TB hard drive should be plenty of space and 8 GB of RAM is a decent amount for multitasking. It only has one RAM slot and it's hard to get to (have take entire laptop apart). Many laptops have easy access to the hard drive and RAM compartments as well as detachable batteries. They are all internal on this. The battery seems to be lasting quite a while even while playing music through the speakers. I haven't timed it but it's a good amount of time. I think this laptop has a feature that allows it to resume in a couple seconds like a tablet. I've noticed that leaving it unplugged for a while in sleep mode tends to run down the battery. I figure this is to do with that feature. I've also noticed that it seems to start up randomly from sleep mode, and I haven't figured out why yet. It could also be due to that other feature or a Windows 10 thing. After exposure for a while I've come to like Windows 10. You just have to take the time to customize it to your standards. I've gotten some old programs and games to run on Windows 10 but having trouble with some others. Overall satisfied. The microphone and speaker situation was disappointing. Not too bad for the price.

This came across one of the 4 hour internet specials and it was a very very good buy. I am happy with it, but recognize that it isn't a top of the line model nor gamer PC powerful--I use it for light photo editing and it is OK..overall the performance is good and it handles windows 10 easily-the worst thing about it is it's VGA/standard resolution built in camera--awful! I can't believe that they even put standard resolution in new computers--If u do ANY webcaming plan on buying an eternal webcam--

Our friend in college needed a new laptop and we found similar models with a lesser processOr. This one had the right combination of processor and RAM it was an added bonus that it was a 17 inch screen. We found an open box model for just over $400 and it has done the trick nicely. Asus does not overload the system with garbage software and free trials for games that you will never use (HP).

This computer is fantastic! It is super fast, has decent battery life, and does just about everything that I need to do with no issues! It can run some pretty graphic intense programs like computer games no problem and processes really fast! I got this computer and within two days of it arriving my brother ordered one as well and absolutely loves it! I have never had a computer this nice that worked this well, so I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new computer. It is great for school work, office work, home use, and gaming, so what more could you want?

Love the large screen and keyboard for working from home . Makes it easy for me to have many systems up at once

Found this one online at bestbuy.com, and picked it for its value for the feature set. No local stores had it on display, so wasn't able to inspect it before buying. Very happy with the performance, but the materials are a little lower end. Only one that bothers me is the keyboard, where the cheap plastic construction really lowers the overall look and feel of what is otherwise a pretty decent laptop.

The keyboard does feel cheap but the price of the laptop was cheap. I'm more of an apple girl, so I'm still in the works in trying to understand the handy things about the laptop.

At the beginning though the screen will be too big but it's perfect, really fast and easy to use, just recommend use a extra mouse cause the kepad is kind of hard to use fast.

For what I use it for, this is perfect! I is bigger than others, but better than a desktop. It has a really nice large screen, but it's not touch screen. It is so much nicer than the dinosaur I was using before and cost just half the price! Well worth the small price!!

So far very satisfied with this purchase. Great computer, fast, good size screen and plenty of memory for what I use it for.

I like the extra large screen size but not the raised key board and lack of a lighted key board. Also, the mouse pad is not easy to maneuver requiring extra pressure

This is a replacement laptop. It's not as sturdy as the HP we had but it has a large screen and a lot of nice functions.

This is a great laptop with a huge screen. I do wish I wouldn't have gotten such a large laptop because I have to carry it around campus but its too late to return it. Some of the settings are incredibly frustrating and impossible to figure out. I would consider myself fairly tech savy and my brother is very tech savy and neither of us can solve some of the problems I am having. I chose it because I needed the num pad and the screen size seemed like a good idea in the beginning.

The big screen is good.I don't like the keyboard, half of the surface is empty and the keys are no so easy to push.

Good price for a 17-inch screen and Intel i5 5th generation processor. I also wanted a VGA port, which is becoming hard to find. The speed is no better than my former computer for what I do but that just shows that the Internet connection is the limiting factor. I do not play games or watch movies so this computer works for me. I wish it had a few more status indicators, like a light for hard drive use. And I will probably miss Bluetooth some day. But not yet.

Very easy setup and operation. Like the big screen and this laptop will be perfect for my new small business.
