I don’t usually leave reviews, but after using the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED for 4 months, I felt this one deserved it.
The first thing that blew me away is the OLED display. Colors pop beautifully, blacks are deep, and watching movies or editing photos feels like a premium experience. For anyone who works long hours, the anti-glare and eye comfort features are a lifesaver — no more headaches from extended screen time.
Performance-wise, the Intel Core Ultra 5 with 8GB RAM handles everything I’ve thrown at it — from daily productivity (Microsoft Office, browsing with dozens of tabs open) to light creative work (photo editing, some video trimming). It boots up almost instantly, apps launch quickly, and multitasking feels smooth thanks to the 512GB SSD.
Portability is another win. It’s lightweight, thin, and stylish, which makes carrying it around campus or to work super easy. Battery life is impressive — I can get through most of my day without constantly searching for a charger.
Little touches like the responsive touchscreen, great backlit keyboard, and solid build quality make this feel like a laptop that punches way above its price.
Overall, ASUS nailed it with this Zenbook. If you’re looking for a laptop that combines power, portability, and a stunning display, this is an easy recommendation. Easily one of the best purchases I’ve made recently.

This laptop’s OLED screen is stunning, with deep blacks and vibrant colors that make movies and creative work look amazing. Performance with the Core 5 is solid for everyday tasks, but if you need more power for gaming or heavy multitasking, the Core 7 is worth considering.
The build feels sturdy, the design is sleek, and the keyboard and trackpad are comfortable. Battery life is decent, though OLED screens can drain it faster. Overall, it's a great choice if you want a top-tier display without sacrificing performance.

Extremely happy so far. For my use, this is the perfect laptop at the right price. I already have a Mac desktop and didn't need a Macbook (well, I didn't need the PRICE of a Macbook lol) and I simply wanted a lightweight laptop that I could use without needing to head upstairs to my office to use my Mac. I have a chronic illness and there are days where I have to limit trips up and down the stairs in my home.
My use is mainly for light work within Autodesk Fusion and Bambu Studio for 3d printing, as well as internet browsing. With this in mind, I'm ok with the 8GB RAM especially at this low price point. I do wish it wasn't soldered in, but it not a deal breaker for me.
The build is excellent for this little laptop - the aluminum feels sturdy and doesn't creak or bend at all. I was a bit nervous about its dark color, but so far it doesn't seem to be much of a fingerprint magnet so I'm very happy about that. The screen is gorgeous - I of course use dark mode on everything to help prevent any possible burn in since it's OLED. I do wish it wasn't quite so reflective but it's a minor gripe. I specifically wanted a touchscreen because for me personally, I prefer that ability when working with my 3d printing models. The keyboard is solid and the keys are nice and responsive and not mushy. Love the backlight on it which is hard to get at this price point. Overall, it's a very premium feel on a budget.
So far it's running cool and quiet for what I'm putting it through, can't speak to battery life in detail just yet, I'm not going to get the 15 promised by Asus but it's shaping up to give me about 8-10 hours of use which is more than enough for my purposes.

This laptop is a great Macbook alternative with good build quality and premium features for much less than the competition. It has a beautiful screen, a great tying experience and a long battery life.
I upgraded the SSD with a Silicon Power 2TB NVMe M.2 PCIe that I got for cheap. I also setup up dual partitions for both Window & Linux after cloning the original Windows drive.
Both Windows/Linux environments run flawlessly, with the Ubuntu distro running out box without any tweaking (touch screen, Wi-Fi etc).
Not only can the laptop handle basic day-to-day tasks, but the Intel Core Ultra 5 can do intensive duties as well, since it's very fast. I'm a very happy camper and feel most will concur after purchasing this item.

Ram is soldered, no upgrade available so not for gaming, very fast and powerful though, sleek and with a feeling of neatness, really reminds me of a new Mac but better, and the screen isn’t glossy bc of touchscreen like I’ve read, highly recommend for work or school and a bonus to be able to light gameplay. NO SD SLOT

Unboxing:
Nice touches on packaging. When you open the box, the laptop “pops” up. It is a little aesthetic detail but it makes a nice presentation and does make it easy to grab from the box.
Layout & Design:
The keyboard is great for the most part with the exception of the power button. For some reason the power button is not the top right button, the “Delete” button is. It was a little dark in the room when I tried to turn it on the first time and I kept pushing delete instead of power. This isn’t a huge deal but definitely odd.
The laptop itself looks like a well designed, high quality aluminum body. It checks my must-have boxes on size and weight. I like laptops that are 15mm (~ .6”) thin or less and under 1.3kg or less than 3lbs. It makes the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED a very good, portable option. I really like the matte finish, however, this leads to fingerprints on the finish like most matte finish laptops.
There is not a fingerprint sensor to unlock the PC but it does use facial recognition, much like iPhones of the past several years. It works well in the light or dark.
External Monitors:
I use two 32” 165hz external monitors and a docking station for much of my computing needs. This ASUS Zenbook can push 1440p and 165hz to both monitors through on USB-C port. The laptop this ASUS is replacing can only push one external monitor at a refresh rate higher than 60hz per USB-C port. This is a big upgrade for me because it is much cleaner for my setup to have once cable do the work of two.
Fans:
This is a good news, bad news situation. What do you want first? Okay, bad news first. The bad news is that the fans run a lot. Typing this review with two Chrome windows and a total of four tabs open, driving two monitors with the lid closed, the fans have been slowly running almost nonstop. The good news is, they are fairly quiet. I really only notice them once in a while, but I do notice them.
Performance:
This is the first device I’ve used with an Intel Core Ultra Processor. So far I have noticed the ASUS to be very snappy and responsive. I haven’t used any programs that are too heavy so it has performed very well. The 8GB of RAM is… well, okay. More on that later.
Battery & Charging:
This laptop has fantastic battery life so far. ASUS claims up to 15 hours. Based on my usage so far, I would say they are not too far off. I have easily gotten 10 hours and been in the 20% range before I plugged in.
The charger is USB-C, which is great since it is so universal. The detail I do not like about the charger is that it is all one piece. I much prefer a charger with a separate USB-C cable. If the charging block and cable are separate pieces, either one can be replaced if they are damaged or worn out. With this charger, in the case of damage or wear, the whole charger will need replacement.
Sound:
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Laptop manufacturers throw names out there like harmon/kardon, Bang & Olufsen, among others, but most laptop speakers are only good enough for basic tasks like listening to audiobooks or a quick video. Most people are using headphones if they are watching shows or movies. That said, the harmon/kardon speakers on this ASUS are a little above average. I find them to be plenty loud, without much distortion, to casually watch a show while I work or browse.
Issues:
I like this ASUS laptop. It has a beautiful OLED screen, it’s lightweight and portable, but there is one main issue I have with it and it is in regards to the RAM.
This laptop comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 memory, which is pretty fast, but insufficient for 2024. Web browsers like Chrome and Edge eat RAM like nobody’s business. These days RAM is cheap (Best Buy has a 16GB DDR5 stick on sale for $39.99) and ASUS has made two errors (in my opinion) with this laptop. The first is, it should start with 16GB. This is the minimum needed these days to have a laptop that runs quickly and lasts for years to come. IF ASUS still believes 8GB is enough in 2024 and beyond, the minimum they should do is make a slot for expansion. This is the second mistake in my eyes because the RAM is soldered to the motherboard. Iit is cheaper and saves space to do this, but unfortunately this move also prevents the laptop from being upgraded in the future, ensuring it becomes e-waste sooner rather than later.
Overall:
Depending on your usage, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED may work well for you. If you use it to watch movies or other videos, casual web browsing, pay bills, basic games, word processing, or other such activities, this ASUS will work just fine. It has a nice keyboard (minus the awkward power button placement), a beautiful OLED screen, great looks, and is nicely sized and portable.
If you like to have 47 Chrome tabs open or use more memory-intensive programs you will eventually run into issues with only 8GB of RAM.
If I could use decimals in my rating, this laptop would be 4.3 for me. I went with four stars because I can’t get past the memory concerns I have. It’s a great laptop so far, checks almost every box I have for a laptop.

What you need to know

For my intendent purpose this machine is perfect.
The design, size, weight and aspect ratio is just perfect for a compact grab and go machine that I use mostly for journaling and surfing the web.
The keyboard is perfect for Journaling, back lit, easy to read letters, good travel and feel, keys are well spaced, not many typing mistakes.
The track pad is also great, smooth like glass, quiet press, easy to press, perfect size and excellent palm rejection, the cursor doesn't jump all over the screen while am typing.
The machine is very lightweight, which makes it a joy to handle, very portable, it inspires you to pick it up and use it and take it with you.
The actual color is beautiful, it is a dark gun metal gray, almost identical to Apple space gray color, which I love and prefer over silver gray or anything else.
The machine doesn't produce heat, I do most of my typing with the machine on my lap and have no heat issues. No fan noise issues either, very quite machine so far.
The display doesn't wooble as I type, it is very sturdy. It is not a flip display, but it goes down all the way flat, which is very important so that I can adjust it to my perfect angle of view depending on my sitting position.
Because it is not a 2 in 1 flip display, it means the lid is not heavy, it doesn't require a stuff hinge, and it passes the 1 finger lift test, nothing worse than a clamp shell that doesn't want to open. The display lid on this machine pulls up very easy with one finger, no resistance.
The display is low resolution, only 2k or 1200 pixels, that means when using it for typing, the text are not super sharp, you can still see some pixels with your bare eyes. But the videos and movies look good, and the display is plenty bright for indoor usage.
OLED display, once you go oled is hard to go back to regular IPS/TFT displays. The oled display on this machine is good, the colors can be adjusted and calibrated to look very natural. Not the sharpest display, but better than most affordable machines.
The sound of the on board speakers is good for podcast or spoken word but not much more. I pair this machine to my Anker SoundCore Liberty 4 NC, and they match very well for watching movies and listenting to music.
The ports, it has one legacy USB 3.2 which is good for thumb drives etc, and it has two USB C full ports, but both USB C are on the right side which is awkward for charging the machine. I wish it had one USB C on each side instead.
Processor, it is not future proof, this machine has little ram and only an i5 processor, but as of right now it feels very snappy, and it loads webpages very quicly, so far it feels fast enough for my needs and its intended purpose.
Overall, I am very sitisfied with my purchase, and I recommend this machine for its value proposition, its pleasing astetic, OLED display and ease of use.
I purchased this unit used for $370 at Best Buy listed as in Good Condition, which means the item looks and feel like brand new, but it doesn't come with original packaging, just the computer and the charger inside a generic box.
I do recommend you clean and disinfect the device before use. Do not use robbing alcohol on the display, buy special cleaning wet towels for the display, see pictures.

Fantastic laptop for my mobile office

I’ve been in the market for a new laptop to use mainly for work. At my job I need a very mobile laptop for working remotely with customers and in various offices on a day-to-day basis. I need a laptop with quick processing abilities, good battery life for working in the field all day, and at a good price. I am not a gamer and I only do light video editing, so having the most powerful/expensive computer is not what I need. So I decided on the Asus Q415 laptop and after using it for several days I would say that I found exactly the laptop I was looking for.
Initial impressions:
It is extremely light and thin which is exactly what I was looking for. As mentioned, I work out in the field all day meeting clients/customers in their homes or offices. This computer has been excellent for that purpose so far. The backlit keyboard on this computer is a welcome addition (the older you get, the more important this is!) and I love the tactile keyboard, feels great when typing and very responsive.
The OLED touchscreen is outstanding. Colors are well-saturated, bright and crisp. I usually use an external mouse with laptops, I’m just not as productive using touchpads, but this computer has a touchscreen, the first that I’ve owned. I’m finding that the more I use the touchscreen functionality the less I need a separate mouse, so that is an unexpected bonus. The speakers in the laptop are remarkably good for such a small/thin computer. The clarity is very nice even at the loudest setting, and it gets fairly loud.
Regarding battery life, it has done exactly what I’ve needed thus far. After working in the field for a few days with the Asus it has plenty of battery life at the end of the day, usually over 50% remaining. I didn’t stretch it to the limits to see how long it would last before it died (I have customers, I need the computer to be working!) so I just recharge at the end of the day in preparation for tomorrow and I have no problem with that.
I am no computer expert so I cannot rattle off technical jargon regarding computer latency but I will say this from a businessman’s perspective, this computer is extremely fast and responsive. There is essentially no lag time when processing commands with all the programs and software that I use, I mean it just responds instantaneously.
This laptop comes with 8gb of ram and in doing some research apparently it is not upgradable. I saw a review on Youtube where the guy said you should probably get the version that comes with 16gb to get the most out of the laptop. I guess he has a point, but for my purposes as stated above this computer is plenty fast, very capable and at a very good price. I have no complaints whatsoever and I highly recommend it.
