Great computer but the touchpad does take a lot of pressure from your finger before it clicks. This doesn’t matter though if you just use the touch screen or tap to click like me.

Actually would have given 4.5 stars if an option....
The keyboard feel and travel is very good, and back light is great addition with different levels. Had a laptop from a different manufacturer with similar specs - but had silver keyboard - somewhat difficult to see, so the dark backlit keys are certainly a plus.
The narrow bezels keep the overall size to a minimum. Construction and fit / finish are excellent. Screen color / brightness is good - with a very minimal amount of light bleed in some areas of the edge on a dark screen. Screen touch function works well.
Sound was good - and through headphones, excellent.
Performance was very snappy, boot time extremely quick, updates went smoothly. Even though only 2GB dedicated video, runs many action / 3D games well. However, it does heat up under the load. I have not seen any "throttling back" but would advise a cooler when running games.
The "NumberPad" is a neat touch, but so far haven''t been utilizing it, so cannot vouch for how handy it could be. Maybe quite useful or some....
Battery life is so-so, seems average - around 5 to 6 hours depending on what is running and settings.
Blue tooth paired and worked well.
There are a few negatives with the computer....
A bit pricey - a little more than some competitors with similar specs.
Technical support is not good. The first contact will be off shore - sometimes difficult to understand, reading from "script" for common issues, but not able to answer highly technical issues. However, this seems to be the "new norm" with many manufacturers.
Overall, still an awesome machine more than capable of all day to day tasks, multitasking, and moderate gaming in a fairly compact form factor.

Powerful, decent price. Surface Pro replacement

I was replacing a Surface Pro 3 that went belly up after 5 years. I needed a machine that would handle video editing tasks along with graphics apps running simultaneous applications such as Photoshop, Snagit and After Effects, plus lots of browser windows and Office apps. I wanted a slightly bigger screen on the unit, though I have a large 4K monitor at my desk.
The first Zenbook I brought home had a defective micro-SD slot, so returned for exchange. I've been very happy since--this machine has dealt well with everything I've throw at it so far. Battery life is excellent--PROVIDED you do all the updates (Asus BIOS updates as well as Windows update). I did install Notebook FanControl because there was excessive fan noise--but I suspect this is before I got all the updates installed. That hasn't been a problem in any case (others have mentioned fan noise on these and similar models).
The only feature that's a little twitchy sometimes is the touchpad keyboard. I've used it and it's definitely handy when you're keying numbers into the calculator. The touch sensitivity varies, however, so (particularly in the first machine I brought how), it's not really possible to verify that you've entered a number because there's no tactile feedback. Unless you look at your screen, of course, but that detracts from the usefulness of a keypad, doesn't it? Not a big deal for me.
The keyboard is excellent--I realized how I'd been conditioned to the decent but inferior Surface keyboard.
Overall, I'm happy with this unit and saved about $700 over the equivalent Surface Pro. I added a 512GB microSD card so now the machine packs a TB of storage.

It does things quickly. I'm happy with processor speed and the graphics card. It plays games like League of Legends without lag. I'm happy with the stylus though I don't use it much. (For those that can't get it to work out of the box, disassemble the stylus and take out the plastic sheet between batteries and contact point.) The touch screen works well. The outputs are adequate. There's no Thunderbolt, but I don't need one. The size of the laptop is great considering the power. Tip: I got it on sale in November, probably the best time to buy a laptop for a good price.

So, I feel like I have searched high and low before finally settling on this wonderful laptop. The Asus- Zenbook Flip 14" is amazing!
I have literally tested out 9 laptops over the last month before feeling like the the Zenbook is my true companion. I tried the 13 and 15 inch gem cut HP. I tried the Lenovo 14" i7/512gb, a couple times, I even tried the 15.6 Asus, but non compared to this one. I wanted something lightweight, aesthetically pleasing, i7, at least 512gb and 16gb RAM under the hood. Oh yeah, and with a lot of ports. The port thing is what ultimately sold me. I know Asus is known for their game laptops, but I'm not a gamer, but I wanted premium hardware in a small frame and I got it.
The Asus Flip is fast, reboots quickly, has two legacy usb 3.1 ports, a usb-c and HDMI ports as well as a micro sd card slot. It has everything I need to get my work done. Great work, Asus!
The only thing that is missing, and for me it's not a huge deal, is a toggle switch for the camera to turn the privacy on and off. It seems like all of the other laptops in this class has that feature.
If you are looking for fast, with the ports, lightweight in a good design, the Asus Zenbook Flip 14" is for you.

Loving my laptop thus far... great battery life! Built solid. Only thing that bugs me is that when i plug in to recharge it, it gets really hot and thus fan gets loud. Fortunately, it charges fast and battery lasts all day.

This is hands down the best 14 inch laptop. Before this, I tried offerings from Dell, Lenovo and Microsoft ,nothing comes close to this in terms of quality and performance. The design, keyboard, screen sharpness and brightness are amazing, the touch pad could have been better but its not a deal breaker. I played some video games and while they don't run at the maximum resolution, they still run very good. I have heard if you buy a higher wattage adapter that somehow will resolve this problem but I am not sure and I don't need this for gaming. You can't buy this anywhere except Best Buy so thank you for putting it out there!

I ended up choosing this over the Envy with similar specs. This was due to being lighter, having a discrete graphics card, and having a stronger hinge! This laptop feels very high quality, and has some great features and specs. I think this laptop will be great for me for a long time. Its a delight to have the new 10th generation i7 processor, 16 gb of ram, and a discrete graphics card for under $1000! The pen also works very well. If you need something light, with good value, and good processing speed, look no further.

This laptop offers a great display, speed, connection capabilities, build quality and more. The keypad is a nice feature although infrequently used. I do wish that most, if not all laptops nowadays, had USB C charging instead of a proprietary charging port/wire. All in all would definitely purchase this laptop again.
Side note * - The first laptop I received had a thin green line running vertically down the display which was disappointing, but BestBuy customer service was great in processing another order for the laptop, which I got a few days later in perfect brand new condition.

I have had this computer for approximately 8 months. It has been fantastic. Good battery life, very good touch screen, the tablet mode is seamless and pretty handy. The number pad in the track pad, is not nearly as neat as I thought it would be. It is more annoying than useful. Time will tell how the battery holds up

First new laptop in almost 10 years. I took a lot of time researching what to get (I'm a 1st year art student) that would cover all my needs without breaking my bank. Finally decided on the larger Asus 2 in 1, but traded that one for the smaller after realizing the other was just too bulky for my needs.
It's an ok laptop. The sound is good and it feels sturdy enough. Runs pretty fast from what I can tell but if I had the extra room in my budget I probably would've gone ahead and gotten a surface or something else. I needed a device I could take with me and type on my lap with, so a kickstand was out of the question though. Also decided to save for a desktop for upgradeablility, so I didnt want to spend $3k on a laptop.
For normal school work or use it's fine. Typing is great and I do like the adjustable backlit keyboard. The touchpad is a little finicky though. Where my issues start to come in is as an art student. The screen has a very yellow tone to it (even after turning off the blue light filter) so I had to play a lot with the display. Got it better but still a shift away from true colors. (Which for drawings and photo editing sucks) The touchscreen is also lackluster when you want to draw on it. I tried several programs, the stylus that came with it, and a wacom stylus. The pressure sensitivity doesnt catch very much. It's fine for taking notes but I wouldnt recommend it for artwork. I'm planning on buying a separate tablet and monitor to be honest, but those extra expenses still added up to less then the Surface spect out the way i wanted.
Overall it's a decent laptop, but i wouldnt recommend it if you're an art student of hobbiest.

I am very happy with my 14" Asus Zenbook. I had an Asus laptop at a job but had to leave it behind when I left that job. This Zenbook is even better and faster than I hoped. I find the backlit keyboard just right and love the touch screen. The screen resolution is very sharp and colors are great. I was afraid the 14" screen might seem too small but I don't notice the difference between it and the Asus 17" screen I had. I also love the number pad on the touch pad.
As I understand it, this model is just made for Best Buy and when you look for it in the Best Buy store, they have it labeled as a Q Series. The Best Buy employees did not know they had a Zenbook on display but found it because I had the SKU# from the Best Buy website. So you will want to have the SKU with you if you want to see it in store.
Also, not many locations have this model. In fact, Best Buy stores near me (Austin) hardly carry any Asus models. That is a shame because Asus quality is as good, if not better than many of the models on display. I almost got a Microsoft Surface Pro because it was so hard to find this Asus. Glad I didn't give up and go with the Surface Pro, I like this Zenbook much better and feel it was a lot more for less money.

I had an Asus I7 (second Gen) K52J which died last month. I replaced it with the Asus ZenBook.
Overall I am still amazed about everything: Memory (16Gb). Hard Drive (SDD) response and efficiency, double graphics Card (Intel and Nvida).
I definitely recommend this laptop to any professional, Designer / Enthusiast (or if you are looking for high quality at a mid to high budget without paying for a pricey Mac computer.)
Fold 180° and use it as a tablet or just for fun to watch streaming movies / videos.
I am 110% satisfied with the performance, quality, finishes and overall of my new laptop.

I wanted a small but powerful laptop for travel and this ASUS fills that niche for me. It seems very solid and I like how quickly it comes to life and programs launch. I think that's mainly due to the solid state drive. I've only had it a few weeks but it loaded all primary application (Word Perfect Office) much easier and cleaner than my older HP all-in-one desktop.
Only two downsides so far. One; it's a bit heavy when flipped into tablet mode. I probably will continue to use my Samsung 10.1 when I want a tablet. Two; every time I turn it on I get a popup saying ASUS needs to update...now or postpone. I picked 'postpone' the first time but 'now' every time since. As soon as I do, however, the popup disappears and nothing happens until, of course, that it pops up next time. Maybe if I take the time to dig into it I solve this 'minor' annoyance.
Bottom line - I glad I bought it and recommend it for anyone looking for a small powerful travel laptop.

Bought a Dell XPS 13" 2-in-1 Touchscreen laptop from a competing store. This unit was, oddly enough, under powered, despite its i7 processor. Why? That i7 was only running at 1.3 GHz. My antivirus wants a minimum of 1.5. Plus, the keyboard felt odd, I didn't know if it was that hardware or the AV which caused a delay in keystroke recognition, the unit was actually kind of noisy when trying to play music softly, and I hated the dongle game I had to play because of the unit's three ports: one audio jack, and two USB-Cs.
Returned it to that other shop. Then came an HP - ENVY x360 2-in-1 13.3" Touch-Screen Laptop, which my wife thought was pretty. I ordered it, read and saw some reviews trashing it before it came in, then, when it did come in, promptly returned it without opening.
Okay, back to Dell, a 14" Inspiron 2-in-1 with a stylus *and* a stylus holder built into the case! It looked great but always had a noisy fan running, and had a lame, not dead, key right out of the box. This thing behaved like it was slapped together, so back THAT one went, too.
So now, this ASUS - 14" 2-in-1 Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB Solid State Drive - Gun Gray. I like the keyboard. The fan doesn't run endlessly. Its i7 is 1.8 GHz. It includes an NVIDIA GPU although(!!!) that doesn't run all the time by design. See the following thread for why: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?56672-Use-Nvidia-for-Laptop-Display-instead-of-Intel. Its touchpad also has a built-in numeric keypad feature.
Another review of this unit was posted and it's accurate although I like all the ports this unit carries. (It's too soon for *only* USB-C; wait a year or more.) The display hinge is sort of tight but at least I haven't gotten HP wobble. The unit's weight is distributed evenly, making it feel lighter than a MacBook Air. It's keyboard feels great. The display is better than the first Dell I returned. The speakers are harmon/kardon and just plain sound good. Um....
I bought this on sale which makes it a decent buy. ( ̄ー ̄)b

Overall excellent computer

The computer is overall excellent. It is a pretty high-end computer and a better price than other companies' offerings as of this writing. I scored this computer on sale at the holidays, making it a steal compared to the current price. (Some other reviews call it midgrade, but that's hard to argue that.)
The pros, and there are many:
This computer comes with an Intel 10th Generation (latest gen) i7 8x core processor, which is the high end consumer line. There are different flavors of the 10th Gen i7's, and this isn't the top of the line, but as an i7, it's still superior to the mid and lower grade lines. For RAM, 16GB is the upper end of what most consumer laptops offer these days. The parts are premium: a name-brand motherboard (by Asus), a 512GB SSD by Intel (it apparently does not have Optane though), and two graphics chips, the Intel onboard UHD chipset for normal use, and an nVidia MX250 (although unfortunately the lower end of this model, the slower 10W MX250 with device ID '1D52') for gaming and higher-end video use. The video is not sufficient to run top of the line PC games however. That is, it is not a gaming PC in an ultrabook. The case is a metal alloy and the hinge is solid, the wifi is the new standard 802.11ax with 8x8 MU-MIMO, the latest bluetooth 5.0 standard, it has all the current ports people still want: HDMI out, 2x USB-A, 1x USB-C, and an microSD card slot. The camera also supports Windows Hello. Also, onboard speakers are pretty good and loud for a laptop. The light weight and size plus all of the specs above make this a genuine ultrabook.
Cons:
The screen: it seems to have some extremely minor viewing angle issues such that, when my head is centered on the screen, the corners seem a little dimmer. But centering my head on the corners causes the problem to disappear there. The computer I have is actually the second one. The first one was exchanged because this edge problem was worse on it. That first one seemed to have uneven backlighting for the LED screen, but this current one I settled on has much less and is probably (as described) a view-angle issue on the screen design rather than a backlighting issue as the first one was. Bottom line: first thing you should do is create a blank powerpoint presentation for an all white screen, then look at the edges of a full blank white LED screen to test yours. Try using other colors as blank powerpoint slides to test for burned out LEDs too. (In both cases, neither screen had dead pixels, so that's good.) I tested the white screen on a floor model of this and it too exhibited the problem of the first computer I had bought. So check this carefully.
Also, the screen should also be brighter. It is just 274 nits. I would have preferred the option to go much brighter (at the sacrifice of battery of course.) I doubt you can use this computer well in an outside environment. And one review claims the screen is not sufficiently responsive for quality drawing, but the included pen seems fine for casual pen use by business and school users.
Besides screen issues that impact some of these computers, the only other cons: the USB-C is not Thunderbolt, and there is no Thunderbolt support. It would have been nice to have two, with one being for powering the laptop. I also wish there was a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello, though there are super small readers on USB devices now, so an accessory is an option.
For me, I was shopping for a 13-14" ultrabook with a 10th Gen i7 machine that was a touchpad 2-in-1 with great overall specs and an HDMI. This was overall great specs and quality for the money. Top of the line Dell XPS machines at the time had a lower end processor (8th Gen) and less RAM, or to get close to these specs, you had to pay Dell about $1000 over this machine. Lenovo's ultrabook Yogas have brainlessly gotten rid of all ports in favor of Thunderbolt only, despite the reality that the world hasn't yet transitioned to Thunderbolt, and who wants to be forced to carry dongles around everywhere. Plus recent news reports the Yogas are having trouble with their Thunderbolt ports, including difficulty charging them. And HP Spectre, the model of my last machine, has made their 13" smaller than the previous generation to the point that it felt like a puny screen and a tight keyboard, plus they too had limited ports. The Surface Book 2 (the only Surface 2-in-1) was my second choice, but it was priced stupidly high for similar specs.
Bottom line: buy with confidence, but check the screen carefully as described above before the return period ends.
I would rate this 4.5 for screen brightness, but since BestBuy doesn't allow halves, I rounded up.

I'm admittedly an ASUS fan having owned several in the past but this new 2-in-1 is one of my favorites. It has an excellent size format with micro bevels where you get a light, convenient 14-inch screen in a comparable size of a 12-inch device. The screen, keyboard feel, backlight and layout and trackpad with the innovative toggle button activated illuminated numeric keypad are all excellent along with the Image Recognition security. This Flip Laptop is also very fast with its 16GB memory, 10th Gen Intel i7 and has rapidly become my new all-time favorite portable & Travel Laptop.
