    Nice....BUT.....

Others have pretty said all there is to be said. We think the quality for the money is excellent. Nice looking, easy to use & set-up with audio instructions while setting up is great! Biggest beef is we can't find add'l handsets anywhere including AT&T! CAUTION: NEVER walk over to the base & pick up the receiver while you are talking on a handset or you will loose your hearing due to FEEDBACK! . I tend to do this when talking on a cordless that is about to die - I try to get to the corded base phone to switch over. You can't do this on this system as the handsets are integrated to the base system & you'll get blasted out of the room when you pick up the receiver on the main base. BEWARE & avoid doing this - keep those handset extensions charged on their bases and you won't have this happen to you....

    Great Phone

Our Uniden crashed after only a few years of use. Since I wasn't about to throw more money down the drain we tried two others before we found a phone that fit of use. It is only a few days old, but so far so good. We needed a phone that was usable if the power went out and a cordless for working from home. The first two did not work outside (too much static) and there was an echo (GE Edge-horrible phone!!!!) when you spoke into the phone. This phone is great. The clarity is fantastic, you can take it outside and there is no static. The phone is a little expensive, but after purchasing two others from two different stores save the gas and time and just buy this phone.

A nice phone with one flaw

I like this phone. I just purchased it yesterday because I wanted to upgrade and this seemed like a good buy. It's a bit pricey, but to have receivers in the places where I can get to them quickly is a really cool feature. This is a digital voice phone, so much of the static that comes with analog phones is gone and the voice is crisper and more easily discernable. As I noted in the Cons, though, you cannot raise or lower the volume of the voice. I'd like to raise it on my phone because I want to be certain that I understand the person I'm talking to. Despite this one detriment, though, I'd definitely recommend this phone to anyone willing to spend $90 bucks for it. A little pricey, yes, but nice enough to warrant the cost. I'll give it 4 stars. That inability to raise the voice volume is a quality lowering problem for me so I cannot justify a 5 star recommendation.

    Finally, a keeper!

This is the fourth phone I've purchased in the past three years because of various problems with the others. Unlike the others, the quality of the sound is excellent in both talking mode and in retrieving messages. My most recent phone was beautiful, but the volume of message retrieval was dreadful. The phone before that couldn't record an outgoing announcement that didn't sound like cheapo 1968, and another phone didn't even have a toll-saver function! I paid more for all of those phones and was very disappointed. It's true that you can't see the message waiting blinking light from any distance at all, but the 10 second beep indicator is just too annoying when someone else is near the base. I don't know how good the cordless range will be, but I never take my phone very far, so that feature isn't important to me. Combining a corded and cordless phones in one package is very clever, and getting two cordless phones at this price is amazing!

    Taking it back

I just bought the phone yesterday and I'm taking it back tonight. I had Uniden phones before but I couldn't find them so I chose what I thought would be comparable. While I guess the phones are comparible I actually received more for my money with the Uniden product. More phones - base and two extensions and more capabilities on the phones. Room monitor, caller ring selections, date and time displayed etc. more memory to store phone numbers. I was really frustrated with it. It does look great as I said and for basic phone function it worked well - sound quality etc.

A Quality Product with Advantages & Disadvantages

    Posted .

[Note that all my comments will pertain to the main, base unit and not to the supplementary cordless handset (which is very nice and well-made in its own right).] First, a previous reviewer stated, "you cannot raise or lower the volume of the voice." With all due respect, that's simply incorrect. (Just use the handy volume control at the far right of the layout.) On the one hand, I do love this product A LOT. Messages (& outgoing announcement) all sound (nearly) distortion-free (much superior to most cheaper products, and virtually as good as the best competing products). The overall "look and feel" evinces ultra-high class and durability, virtually "as good as it gets" (unless you want to spend a small fortune, that is)! On the other hand, I can't help wondering if AT&T (the phone-service company) didn't influence the design of this (so-called) "AT&T" phone (manufactured by "Advanced American Telephones," a Chinese company), for this phone lacks any bright, conspicuous LED light to notify you that its built-in answerer has received a new message. (Instead, there's merely a relatively inconspicuous indicator within the LCD display that you might not notice if you've got your mind on other business. But at least you can--via a menu option--"permanently" activate the built-in "Message Alert" beeper to HEAR that you've got new messages, and that subtle beeping every ten seconds DOES work very effectively to notify you of new messages, which is a key reason that I still feel comfortable recommending this product.) Curiously, however, there IS a bright, conspicuous LED LIGHT to notify you (visually) that you've received a new VOICE MAIL message; however, in order for THAT feature to work, you must subscribe to your local phone company's (AT&T's?) voice mail service! Why couldn't the designers of this phone just include a basic, red, flashing LED for its built-in answerer?! (Very curious! And a bit frustrating!) Analogously, if you don't subscribe to Caller-ID service, this phone's LCD never visually displays any sort of "current time and date" information. (Instead, you must press a "CLOCK" key to HEAR the current year, time, and day of the week.) Competing models' LCDs DO display some or all of that "clock" information without requiring any Caller-ID subscription. So, it just depends on your needs and sensibilities. If you do like precisely the features that this well-constructed product happens to include, then you should love it, for it's one of the classiest-looking phones of this sort available!

Base: can't work without power & no headset plug.

    Posted .

The headline is it. Don't buy if you want a phone that can be used in a thunderstorm or when the power is out (it may work with batteries alone, but that's not something one can rely on). Don't buy if you wanted to plug a headset into the base unit. (two salespersons assured it would, but I should have opened the box on site; as the specks are misleading - in only plugs in the cordless.)

    Good Purchase

This phone has been a solid purchase. The convenience of having three phones in the house on one line is fantastic. The digital answering machine works very well. The only down side is that I find the range on the cordless phones to be somewhat limited, but that might vary from house to house. All in all, a good bet!

I've just recently bought this phone for our new home. I didn't need anything fancy but wanted a phone that works well and can hear other people clearly. This phone does this. I haven't read the instructions and have adjusted the various features with relative ease.

    Great Phone

This has been a great purchase for me. The sound is clear even after dropping the phone um-teen times. I can talk on the phone while I go and check the mail which is probably 50 yards from the house. The battery life is pretty good, I have no complaints. The answering machine is easy to use and very clear.
