Switched to AVG from Webroot and couldn't be happier. This is the type of products that if you are having issues on a recurring basis, it is not doing it's job. I like that I can download it and not have to worry about being protected. Setup is a breeze. Just install the software and plug in the access code. Once activated, the program scans everything and you are good to go. I have never had a problem with AVG products and this one is no different!

I'm not a huge fan of this software. Although the software guides you through setup, it's not immediately clear what is and isn't included in the package. There's lot of opportunities to "upgrade" yet it never provided an opportunity to input my activation code so it isn't apparent if I don't get certain access or just need to enter my code somewhere. The program does offer helpful suggested next steps to grant access to your phone but the suggested steps never actually lined up with my phone so I still had to guess my way through. I was also a little hesitant with some of the acess requested. I use my phone for work and have some restrictions on my phone for work security so it made me a little concerned that some of the selections required will negate device requirements for work and I'll end up having to uninstall the program. I would have liked more information explaining what I was granting them access to rather than just steps to give them access. Overall, the program seems good but not a good fit for me and there are a few usability issues that could improve the overall experience.

I'm using this on my android and so far it's been easy to use and scans fast. It will scan all files and apps, boost RAM, clean junk and set up VPN protection. There is also app locking for extra protection, photo vault, wifi security, auto daily scan, firewall setup, and power save features That's a lot of protection. It is good for up to 5 devices for a full year making it a great deal.

This software is basically paid adware. Outside of the basics which can be obtained for free from reputable sources, AVG wants to charge for advanced features. I get a random popup every few days saying my IP address is exposed. Of course it is exposed! That is normal. Then it has a "solve" button. I click it and it wants me to buy their VPN service which I do not need on my home computer. Another popup said my computer has some unnecessary software slowing it down. A scan gives me a list of problems. They allow me to download the software to fix the problems for free. But to run the software, I must either do a 60-day trial or pay for a subscription above and beyond what I already have. The only positive thing I can say is that the software does not bog down my computer and it found a suspicious file that my free scanner may have missed. However, AVG also quarantined a paid application that I have had for many years which no other scanner has questioned. I do not know who to believe since the application works and has never been flagged by anyone else. This service comes with some features to prevent ransomware attacks but there is obviously no way to test it. I like the idea of it. However, I have noticed that some of my files stored in the cloud do not seem to work on other devices now. It could be coincidence or it could be that AVG applies some type of protection that means well but it still has some bugs. I needed a file a few days ago on my phone which worked perfectly before I applied this service. Now, it will only open on the machine where it resides. I will most likely be deleting the software and going back to the free options that do not harass me to spend money.

I'm sure there are some very nice things about this software package, but I simply can't use it without having to babysit the scanning checks, closing the program when the "advanced threats" scan locks up, and then have to close out nag screens trying to sell me an upgrade after letting me know of "performance issues" and "security issues" and "privacy issues" that have been found. I'm sorry but when I use security software I expect it to work smoothly and fix the alleged problems it detects. BABYSITTING: when starting a scan, there are 4 sections of the scan "browser threats" > "viruses & other malware" > "advanced issues" > "performance issues". Each one of these will run and then stop, waiting for a "next" button click to move on to the next section of the scan. LOCKUPS: when the "advanced issues" scan starts, it will lock up the computer or freeze at about 50%-ish and I have to close out the program, re-open the program, and then see the results. Some may say "low specs" on my computer, but hey this is an I5 with 16gbRAM and solid state drive, Windows 10 Pro with all updates... sorry but if this software won't run smoothly without locking up on my computer I don't think I will be the only one having this issue... NAG NAG NAG: well after babysitting the scans, restarting the program to get the results >> I am informed that I have oodles of "system junk" + "broken registry items" + "programs slowing down your PC" >> and drum roll please when I click the "Resolve All" button I get an advertisement to "Get AVG TuneUp to resolve your PC issues"... sheesh I have just fiddled with non-user-friendly software for the privilege of getting a nag screen to purchase more software. IP ADDRESS VISIBLE: (nag screen spoiler alert) >> OK I am seeing that my IP address is visible and my online activity is not secret. Well just click the "Resolve" button and you get ANOTHER nag screen for the "AVG Secure VPN" - good grief! Hey no kidding I now have TWO NAG SCREENS going at once, both trying to sell me something. BROWSER HIJACKING: Well my default browser just got changed to the AVG-protected browser, which is swell I am sure but all my stuff is on the browser I have been using without issues for some years >> didn't know I would need to change browsers as part of the deal >> no thanks and nobody asked for my permission anyway. Geez... ANDROID PROTECTION - MEH: I am sincerely trying to give all this a chance to so I can fairly evaluate the software package, and it seems to me that the "included" android protection is something I can already get for free and as a matter of fact is essentially an "app" that came with my Sony phone that I found to be bothersome and uninstalled the first week I had the phone. Maybe I am mistaken but by this point I honestly don't care enough to fiddle with it any more. Sorry but this package just hits all the wrong buttons with me, even if it does a good job and helps keep my computer protected and so forth... Just my personality I guess but I don't care to use software that rubs me the wrong way in several different directions every time I use it. "Hey thanks for letting us scan your computer and here are a couple advertisements for something that our scan has shown that you should buy!" NO THANK YOU. How it works: click/wait > click/wait > click/freeze > close/restart > click/NAG > click/NAG > click/goodbye. Honestly I am used to a nag screen if I use "freeware" or similar, but not after shelling out money to buy the latest and greatest, only to find that I opened the door for for a marketing campaign. Thanks, but no thanks.

AVG has long been my favorite antivirus protection for windows. It was great a few years back when I started using it. It runs smoothly in the background and doesn't hog many of your computers resources. It is currently using less than 300mb of my system memory and It is running a scan! It checks your browser for threats, scans for viruses and malware and is frequently updated. You can opt in for added features but it costs a bit more. I trust AVG to protect my computer from malware. It's a must have, especially if you have family that may accidentally wander off onto some sketchy websites or emails. I've had it installed for about a week now and I do not see any slow down on my computer. It didn't affect it's boot up time and doesn't bog down its processor and memory. AVG has always been pretty good about that and continues to improve. Pros; Wide range of protection. Protects your files, browser, emails, privacy, and defends against hackers. Does not use up alot of system resources, so it runs smoothly even while actively scanning your computer for threats. Cons: No complaints from me.

This was very simple to use. Once I installed it and performed the first scan it found a couple of sensitive files that could be a potential risk and secured them. I've been browsing normally and notice no ill effects of this software. I'm happy to have this extra level of security.

With all the scammers out there you have to have some type of internet security. I have been a fan of AVG when they came out with a free basic protection and now supplemented with an upgrade. The price is right and my computer seems safe. I’m not sure if this bounces your VPN around but peace of mind for a cheap price works for me.

I work on both a Mac and PC laptop - the Mac doesn't really need a anti-virus app but hey - nothing is really immune. Right off the bat the installation was pretty straight forward on the PC. For some reason it was a little more complicated on the Mac which caused me to go through a few extra steps. But afterwards everything was pretty simple. The UI on both the PC and Mac versions was 80% the same from the images from the AVG website there is suppose to be another button "privacy protection" but that was no where to be found on the MAC version. But despite those dissimilarity, I am easily able to scan my Mac and choose between 3 different option: Mac scan - scans the most vulnerable areas of the Mac Deep Scan - intensive malware scan File scan - scan specific files or folders What I also like about the program is the ability to also "quarantine" threats, the "ransomware protection" which is suppose to wall off personal files, blocks phishing websites, and detects fake sites. Despite the good... there was a lot of places for room for improvement such as including VPN protection which the program does remind you that you VPN isn't secure and that your location is vulnerable. And there are some areas where upselling occurs such as "tuning up" your device requires a different program but I guess for the price the AVG internet security is a basic package. Though I wish it would be a bit more clearer in what their definition of what "internet security" really means.

Works as advertised. Use it for Android phone and tablet. Only downside is they try to get you to upgrade for additional ad ons. Scans daily for viruses and helps with cleanup of old files and junk which can be removed.

    Won't complete virus scan

I've used AVG in the past, but I had switched to another antivirus platform. Having not used it in a few years I was happy to take a look at their premium offering. Sadly I was very disappointed. Installation was smooth, there were no problems. I downloaded the client, ran the installer, then one mandatory restart later I was back in business. One thing to note, there is a box ticked by default to install the AVG secure browser. I missed this during the installation so I figured I'd check out the browser. I already use a 3rd party VPN for security purposes and nothing I saw in this browser was useful to me. It's optional, so if it's something you don't want on your machine pay attention as you're clicking through the installer. Once installation was complete I launched the software to perform my first virus scan, perform security updates and so on. Right off the bat I noticed that this current version of AVG doesn't look like any AVG product I've ever used in the past. It looks shockingly similar to a rival product which I have been using ever since I jumped ship. The menus, overall layout, even the color scheme were identical to this other software. Weird. This made it easy for me to navigate the software because I'm already familiar with the layout, but I've never been overly fond of the way different tools are hidden under different headings. Anyway I ran my first scan and ... oh wait it wouldn't finish. It hung at 62% and wouldn't complete. I figured maybe it was just a bug and a restart would fix it so I did that. Hung again at 62%. Weird. I let it run for 90 minutes without it making any progress. After reading on forums and scouring the AVG support section I gave up, I was never able to successfully complete a scan. I'm unwilling to install this software, which doesn't seem to be working, on other machines in the house other than my own. I know what I'm doing and don't mind taking the risk but I have no idea what everyone else gets up to on their pcs. So yeah that's a bummer. The one thing I really want antivirus software to do is to scan for viruses and this software failed spectacularly on this front. I'll give it a go again in a few weeks or whenever there's another update to the software, but for now I'm back to my tried and true app. I did check out the secure browser as stated, and it's fine. If you don't already have security solutions in place I suppose this could be a good way for you to conduct your business and manage your sensitive data online. Since the core functionality of the product is broken however, and I already have a custom solution in place this was useless for me. I checked out the VPN and I can definitely say that it works, though I don't know anything else other than that my ip is obscured. I don't k now whether or not any activity logs are kept, I don't know where these servers are located, I don't know which encryption protocol is being used, nor was I able to confirm whether or not the VPN was leaking DNS information. As stated it works, but that's about all I know. Speeds for regular browsing on the internet seemed unaffected, though I did notice a bit of lag while buffering video. Not a deal breaker if you don't already have a VPN. For me though I just don't trust all of these unknowns, and I already pay for a VPN service which I trust implicitly so this isn't getting used as well. The software says it can protect my files from prying eyes but I don't really see how. That was never made clear to me. Were any of my files accessed? I don't know, they've never been before so i don't really know what to say about this feature. It's the same with webcam security. A webcam test is quickly performed to see if anyone is accessing it remotely, nobody was which is reassuring I guess. Again I've never had an issue with this and my other antivirus software does all of this as well so, nothing to see here. Overall I can't really say much good about this product. I understand that software is always in flux and updates may fix existing problems, or introduce new ones, but considering this is advertised as an antivirus product and I was never able to complete an antivirus scan, I mean what am I to say? It didn't do the one thing I really wanted to see. That's a no from me dog

Was an easy install. Many anti-virus take a long time for the first scan, but this was done in under 5 minutes. I was very impressed. Also has features to scan for malware and improvements to the speed. It showed me exactly what needed to be removed or changed. AVG is very efficient and gives you confidence that your PC is protected.

While it's always a great idea to have internet security, it's never a good idea to use fear tactics to get your customers to continually upgrade. At some point, you will begin to feel even less secure than before you signed up. AVG is a good piece of mind service to start with, but my major qualm is that if you don't buy the full package ie, everything they've got to offer, they will constantly use great tactics to remind you that you aren't completely safe. As much as I recommend getting security software, I don't understand why you would give a customer options that you don't feel are good enough. In the end, it's all of nothing. It's great that it can be used for multiple CPUs, but that just means you'll get harassed on all 5 systems when you log in. I can't recommend people go through that. There's too much stress in life as it is. Pass in this one.

I got this to use on my new laptop. I wish I had just stayed with the software I use on all the rest of my computers. I do not feel "safer" using this. It seems all it cares about is, you need to upgrade to the Ultimate or another one of the products it sells. It tries to block things it should not, but I wonder if it does anything for the sites it should. It has crashed twice in a week; the Internet Security from AVG is disappointing and annoying.
