The End of an Era

The Batman: Arkham series that started back in 2009 with Asylum has since become an icon in the industry. It changed the way consumers and developers look at ways to use comic book properties in video games. The series has always been immersive, passionate, and of the highest of quality. It is all the more impressive when noted that developer Rocksteady had only a single game published prior to bringing to light their concept for a game starring the Caped Crusader. Even WB Montreal did a fine job of keeping the universe in sync when they delivered their prequel Arkham Origins. It has been a long six years or so, but the team at Rocksteady has done nothing but impress each time and they delivered immensely within Arkham Knight.
Arkham Knight takes place nine months after the events of Arkham City. *SPOILER* In light of the Joker’s death, crime is at an all-time low. It is a case of too much of a good thing, and Commissioner Gordon knows that it cannot last. It is Halloween, and Scarecrow has plans to make it a long one. Mirroring events of the classic Batman comic The Long Halloween, Gotham is evacuated after Scarecrow warns of an imminent city-wide fear toxin attack. Batman and the entire GCPD are called to action as criminals and riots wreak havoc all over the mostly abandoned city. As soon as players are granted control of the Dark Knight, you can feel the true depth the game has. As you are perched, a grand vision of Gotham lay right in front of you. It is the most alive the city has felt across any of the games. Police choppers scan the area, crooks speed by in cars, and a city of equal parts old and new all meld together with a heartbeat you can feel. As the rain runs down your cape, the power of our new shiny current gen systems has hit a new peak. Complete with gorgeous cinematic moments, this is the best looking game on new consoles without a doubt.
Batman Arkham Knight is a masterpiece, there is no doubt about it. Being such a big fan makes it hard not to be biased, but I can see where the game fell short. I am always going to want more from the universe, and the lack of dynamic side missions or boss fights hurt it. The over use of the Batmobile and massive amount of Riddler trophies also made for tedious moments too. Where the developers dropped the ball however, they certainly more than
made up for everywhere else. Top notch production within the graphics and voice acting made for one of the highest quality games I have ever played. Aside from the troubling PC issues, the game rarely ever underperformed on my Xbox One and ran beautifully. Some big moments in the main story fall flat, but it has enough immersive moment and twists that you will not second guess it one bit. Arkham Knight brings end to an era of wonderful games that may never be topped. It is a work of art and a homage to fans of Batman and gamers alike.

Fantastic Game Overall

The Batman Arkham series has been a shining example of how to make a great superhero game. The reason for that is simple: the gameplay makes you feel like you are Batman himself. Batman Arkham Knight is no exception. From the combat system that lets you feel like you're living out a choreographed fight scene, to the many gadgets you have at your disposal, Arkham Knight nails the whole Batman experience. One of the new gadgets (if you can call it that) of this entry is the Batmobile. This was a neat addition to the game but after a while it starts to become somewhat tedious. It's not that the sequences when you use it are bad, but they just aren't as fun as the Bat Punching or Bat Face-Kickings I'm used to from the series.
The story of the game is also very well done. The plot, the dialogue, and the characters were all very solid. When the story was over, I was left wanting more. That was because if I wanted the true ending of the story, I had to complete every side mission in the game. While normally this isn't a big deal, in this game it essentially means that I must search the entire game and find every hidden Riddler trophy and solve every Riddle. What I did instead was I completed every other side mission and then watched the true ending online.
Overall, this game was a blast. If you're a fan of Batman or of action games in general, it's worth your time and money. With only a couple things weighing it down, this is a Batman experience you don't want to miss.
P.S. The Limited Edition of the game is also worth getting, but only if you're a big fan of Batman, the Arkham series, or both! The statue is cool looking, with a hidden switch that turns on lights at the base to make it look cool in a dark room. The art book is also fun to look at, the comic book was a nice touch, and the Steelbook is pretty sweet to store your game inside.

First off, the limited edition is very good. The statue is a good size and, even though plastic, it has an impressive look to it. Steelbook is what you would expect, but the art book is very well made. Nice hard cover with dust cover and sturdy pages and binding.
Now on to the game itself. The story is one of the best complete Batman stories in any form of media (outside the actual comics). It pays off extremely well and has some great suprises. Even more if you are not an avid comic reader. The gameplay is as refined and fluent as ever. The addition of the batmobile is great, though the tank battles often get repetitive. Overall, this game is Rocksteady's magnum opus and cannot wait to see where they go next.

There are those of us who view Batman as more than just a character. He means a lot to us, has been a major part of our lives since we were so young that we don't have many other memories. This is the first time, even including Rocksteady's two previous Batman games, that you can really, truly feel as though you're the Caped Crusader. The addition of the Batmobile, which handles like a dream and never becomes tedious in the least but instead adds endless variety to combat scenarios, is a welcome one, but the enormous open world, improved combat and gliding mechanics, and incredibly detailed, moving story are what makes this the greatest superhero game ever made. Villains that have been too long ignored by most Batman writers get a triumphant turn here, especially Scarecrow, portrayed menacingly and unforgettably by Fringe's "John Noble." Do not miss this game. You'll regret it forever.

Let me start by saying Batman Arkham Knight is one of the best games in the series. With the addition of the batmobile, it truly feels like you are the Batman. Now for the collector's edition. This version was easily worth the money in my opinion. The statue was nice, the art book was cool, the comic was great to read while I installed the game, the skins were neat (now free for everyone), and the steel case is a great addition for any collector(especially since they gave you the regular game box as well.)
Overall amazing game and great collector's edition.

Rocksteady finished their trilogy on a high note. The graphics are the best in the series and the story drives the game from beginning to end. The voice cast did an amazing job bringing these wonderful characters to life in the game. Even if you haven't had a chance to play the previous entries, I still urge you to give this game a go, you won't regret it.
The Statue, while not as detailed as the ones that came in Origins and City, is still an amazing piece of work and the light up function is a neat touch.

Batman Arkham Knight is action, fun, and great story. But fails to truly make this the true final best arkham game due to over using the batmobile and boss battles that seem hype are fails to make a true satisfying end of comfrontation with each one of them.

Love this game. The open world aspect of it is more to my preference. Since I got the limited edition version, I did get a few bonus items. The comic that came w/ it was the only one I needed, but didn't have, to complete my set. I will say the statue looks awesome. It comes w/ batteries, I believe, and it lights up. Turn off the lights and watch it shine.

This game starts in a dramatic fashion. Each hour of gameplay is jammed packed with lore, missions and combat to keep you hooked for many, many hours. I've only completed about 30% of the game yet I still feel there's still so much to do especially with riddler's trophy's. Overall great game for all levels of gamers!

I've played the Arkham games since they first came out and I was not disappointed with Knight. Lots of people are complaining about the usage of the tank in missions and such but I don't mind it. It changed the gameplay up from the previous games. There wasn't a whole they they could've done differently. It's hard to please everyone. Either way I think this is the most fun I've had out of a game this year so far.

I was very excited to open this limited edition Batman when it arrived in the mail. The statue inside to my surprise was a heavy vinyl so no need to worry about it breaking. It also lights up to show the Dark Knight standing above Gotham. Amazing deal with my gamer club unlocked discount.

I have loved all the Batman Arkham games so far and Batman Arkham Knight is a perfect ending to this trilogy. More bad guys, neat side missions, and several wonderfully crafted story twists make this a must play.
