DC Animated Continues Their Dominance

Much like Marvel has captured the live action market, DC has claimed dominance in the animated realm and this movie is no exception. The story builds off a fantastic video game franchise and expands the landscape with the addition of the Suicide Squad. The voice acting is terrifically cast like all DC animated features. It is great to hear the one true Batman take up the cape and cowl again. Also the Joker was well done for not being Mark Hamill. I can't wait for any kind of sequel or prequel to this movie, incorporating the other chapters of the video game franchise.

I would rate this just under 4 stars. Definitely not for very young kids but if you are like me and my son, we like to pick up these superhero blu rays we've never heard of when we are passing through best buy. Without saying much about the movie itself, it was well written, has quality animation and a good mixture of recognizable characters as well as new faces. If you are familiar with DC Universe, the team in this is similar to Task Force X, led by Amanda Wahler and Cadmus. If I remember correctly, it was previously led by Colonel Flag. Good voice acting as well. Worth a watch.

Though the claim is that this movie ties with the Arkhamverse, it doesn't show how or when this entry ties in. Perhaps it will be revealed in Batman: Arkham Knight. From the character designs and story it is apparent that this is a mix of the New 52 and Arkham series. The story begins well, but towards the end, character's actions become more jaded and you feel that the writers may have been running on fumes at that point. Which is why I would give it an 8.5/10. As far as the Best Buy limited edition figurine, it is of simple design and made of cheap plastic, but it is a collector's item and is pleasant to own.

A new evolution to DC Animated Films

I don't do spoilers so that said this movie is fun and showcases some DC characters that have never been included into the animated universe - that alone is a great reason for a true DC fan to watch. Having the Arkham angle and being a fan of the video games I really enjoyed this film. I would like to note that the animation isn't as good as a few DC animated films but overall it was still enjoyable as a movie. I also believe some of the things they did are pushing boundaries of what we usually see in a DC animated film. Enjoy!

Not as much Batman as you'd think--which is good!

The movie may feature Batman on the cover, but this is first and foremost a "Suicide Squad" movie, and I could not be happier! Think "Ocean's Eleven" with "Reservoir Dogs" in the DC universe and you get the jist. DEFINITELY not for children, despite the Batman branding--features edgy nudity and content you do not want to have to explain to your child--which is a plus and shows the thought put into keeping the characters true to their origins. One of DC Animations best and gives me hope for the live action version!

This is my first DC animated movie I purchased. I bought for the free ticket to see "Batman vs Superman" and I'm glad I did. I wasn't sure what to expect but the fact that it was rated PG13 intrigued me. I'm also a fan of "The Suicide Squad." Aside from the violence, which is graphic, there is a love scene. Another of the highlights is Kevin Conroy voicing Batman. The movie takes certain liberties with some of the supporting characters, but it's what makes the film interesting to watch. I'm looking forward to expanding my library with more DC animated movies.

I own pretty much all of the DC cartoon movies that come out & I believe this is the first one to really put the Suicide Squad in the drivers seat & it's about time. Very refreshing & almost allows Batman to sort of become a backseat player in the plot. Has the Cleaner more Artistic & refined Animation style I've become more fond of.
If you love DC world/Batman story movies & especially getting deeper into the background mythos adventures of the villains as well, then you'll thoroughly enjoy this story!

Huge fan of Batman and the villains of the DC Comics universe. These animated movies are always great, include plenty of action, and have a well-written story. I never bought the Blu-ray of Assault on Arkham so I grabbed this 4K edition and am very happy to add it to my collection. If you're a fan of comic books in general and have an interest in these characters, definitely picked this one up, as you're bound to enjoy it.

I've seen movies with twist similar to this, but with identifiable characters and the action that ensued was epic. This is one of those movies you can watch over & over again. I wasn't bored one moment, this movie kept my attention the entire length of it. When I watch anime I tend to get really bored with those that don't get my attention right away. The storyline was great, at times I forgot I was watching an animation. Really good movie, I would recommend this to all who are interested.

Great next animated film by dc. Love all the characters they have in it and the story is enjoyable. My 5 year old loves batman so we watched it and like some of the others it does have some language and violence that kinda made me feel bad for letting him watch but he loved the movie cause he got to see a lot of villains and batman beating them all up. Great movie for all other than if you have kids you don't want seeing and hearing some questionable stuff buy it and save til they are older

Pretty good show but not for kids

It's a pretty good show, but not one of DC's best, and they are the best when it comes to animated superhero shows. It's fine for adults, although a bit over the top, but most folks think PG-13 is just fine for kids especially when all the superhero movies are rated like this. But when you have a shark human eating people, over-the-top violence and an "adult" scene mixed in (apparently you can't put s-x in a Best Buy review), it reminds me of Sin City not Batman Begins; it really should have been rated R. Like I said, fine for adults, but not for kids at all.

This is a suicide squad movie, not a Batman movie. That's not a bad thing, the Bat is a constant shadow through the whole thing and makes some appearances, but really, this is a Suicide Squad movie.
That out of the way, this is a fun romp and you'll love if you like the animated Batman movies that have been coming out. Artwork looks great, the story is interesting and the suicide squad is... well the suicide squad. I'd buy this again any day.

First thing to mention about this feature is it is a Suicide Squad movie with Batman making an extended cameo appearance. The second thing to mention, is this animation feature is more mature in themes and subject matter, then past Batman animation features--It is not a kids feature.
As for the feature itself, it is a very good DC animated feature. While not quite as good as Batman Year One, or The Dark Knight Returns 1 & 2 (which are excellent adaptions of the source material), but it is better then the Son of Batman and Under the Red Hood adaptions.

Batman: Assault on Arkham was an excellent movie! The story featured the Suicide Squad, a team of imprisoned villains forced to work for the government one of whom is Harley Quinn, more so than Batman. Bonus features were great! I particularly loved the featurette on Harley Quinn in the Bonus features, which gave a background on Harley from her creation to the present day in DC's New 52. I also love the little Harley Quinn figurine that came with this Blu ray. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

This is one of the BEST DC Animated titles to date. The action is superb and the voice acting is spectacular. This is a non stop thrill ride that truly will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Batman is at his BEST in this film but ironically he is NOT the centerpiece of this movie; the villains are. This is one of the few times that you will actually be rooting for Batman AND the villains simultaneously. This is a MUST to add to your DC Animated Movie collection.

Overall, Assault on Arkham Asylum is another great showing from the DCU Animated Universe. Better than Son of Batman, but still short of some of the recent JLU animated films, it's definitely a good watch. Note that it focuses more on the villains - the Suicide Squad - than it does on Batman, which for me was a nice change of pace. Another great rendition of the Amanda Waller/Batman dynamic, it's definitely a thrill ride, only cut short by the fact that it's only 76 minutes long. Definitely worth the 17 bucks I paid for it.

This is marketed as a Batman film, but really Batman plays second fiddle to the suicide squad. With Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and Captain Boomerang getting the majority of the screen time. But that's not a bad thing, because it lets you see Batman from their perspective. And it is fun watching them sweat bullets over what Batman is going to do next. Just because this movie is animated doesn't mean it's for kids though. It definitely earns it's pg-13 rating, so parents with little kids probably shouldn't share this with them.

Disapointing Exclusive

You can get reviews for the film anywhere, so I'm reviewing the Best-Buy Exclusive figurine. This is definitely the most disappointing figure in the series. Harley Quinn's body is disproportionate: her legs, arms, and neck are too long, waist too thin. The face is squat, and looks nothing like the character. Granted, this is the sleazier Harley from the videogames and New 52 series, not the wholesome old Harley, but it's still a disappointing figure. A lot more detail went into previous installments in the series.

One of the better DC animated movies released in awhile. Though the title says Batman, the story centers on a group called the Suicide Squad (villains the U.S. Government uses for special OPs), and oddly enough it works. The cast of villains were pretty cool, and I enjoyed their interactions with each other. Of course having Batman and the Joker in it adds the awesomeness of this film. Not a bad release, I'm hoping the next film by DC (Justice League - Throne Of Atlantis) is just as good. Recommend this flick.

This movie is less about Batman and more focused on the vaunted "Suicide Squad". I know they are going to make a movie with Jared Leto playing the Joker. I like the story and Batman has enough of a presence to remind you why he is by far the best menber of the Justice League. Lots of action and the Arkham Asylum backdrop was really cool. There is one inapropriate type seen in the movie so if you are watching with your kids be forewarned.
