The package came on time (actually a day early), but the steelbook had a small dent on the front cover.

This is a CLASSIC re-telling of a wonderful classic story! This version mixes the original animated edition with the LIVE broadway musical version. The cast is outstanding - Emma Watson as Belle is wonderful - BELLE is a much stronger female character then in the past which is exciting, and Dan Stevens as the BEAST is very exciting! I loved his HUMANITY buried under all that fur and growl! Theres a LOT more to this version than weve ever seen before - some of which still has me asking questions that id love DISNEY to answer, but over all this is a GREAT movie with gorgeous visuals, great new songs and a very rewarding movie experience! DONT miss the bonus material - its very rewarding in itself!

As a fan of the original "Beauty and the Beast," I was curious about this live-action version. The movie has a great cast, starting with Emma Watson. I've been a fan of hers since the first Harry Potter movie. The actors who voice some of the other characters, like Emma Thompson, Ian McKellan, and Ewan McGregor, are terrific. I love the songs, too. Although I don't think that every animated film needs to be turned into a live-action movie, this was one that was very enjoyable and worth watching.

The 1991 animated version of Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture, and it deserved it. This live action version with Emma Watson is just as good. It stays faithful to the original songs written by Howard Ashman, Alan Mencken, Tim Rice, and Elton John, while adding a few new numbers that fit with the originals quite nicely. Emma has a lovely voice, and the special effects work well, with a terrific cast of voice actors. Don't miss this one!

A beautiful Remake of a Disney film

I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but it took two years to finally seen this very inventive and retelling of this classic movie from Disney! I first seen this movie on TNT but it didn't show the important scene where Belle went out onto the hill and sang the reprise of Belle expressing how she wanted adventure in the great wild somewhere. So I bought the DVD/Blu-ray and enjoy the longer version without the commercials!!

Since the plot is so well-known, I'll touch on details and minutiae that made this film more meaningful for me. Like many, many others, I loved the original animated version, but, still, it IS a cartoon. The difference in the empathy and emotion drawn forth by having human actors is amazing. I FELT Kevin Kline's aching sense of loss for his beloved dead wife; Belle's impatience at the constricts of living in a provincial village; Gaston's insufferable self-love, the Beast's anguish at the predicament that he KNOWS is of his own making, the castle's inhabitants grief and regret at not having helped the prince be a better person.. The settings recalled the real darkness of the original French fairy tale. The prince is a prisoner of his own arrogance, selfishness and anger, and the intricacies of the Beast's cursed castle show that so well, metaphorically: everything is entangled and entwined with sharp, brittle branches and dark, dark, dark. The scenes where Belle and he begin to interact to get to know each other become well-lit and brighter, as if the Beast is slowly letting go of his own destructive tendencies. The mob scene is truly horrifying, as I could feel the hatred that Gaston is whipping up, and the villagers so quickly fall for. The obvious "lessons" are here as well: appearances are not all there is to a person as well as (sorry, Lloyd Weber fans) love changes everything. The humor is still here, as is the wonderful score of the original. But the score is so much more lush and full, and the three new numbers enhance both the plot and the character development very well. The opening prologue shows in just a few minutes how shallow and self-satisfied the prince is. "How Do You Hold a Memory" is so achingly sad (and I'll be some imagineer at Disney had a fabulous time making the clock that Belle's father is working on). "Days in the Sun" could be about any regret of not grabbing every chance you can to learn about and/or live life as fully as your circumstances allow. And what can be said about "Evermore"? As many versions of this fairy tale as I've read and/or seen, nothing else captures the agony of the Beast's finally finding love and realizing that, for his beloved's happiness, he must give her up, knowing full well what that will mean to and for him. Yup, I cried. "Beauty and the Beast" has always been for me, the quintessential romantic fairy tale. This rendition captures all the romance, pain, love, and self-sacrifice that the best fairy and folk tales offer in explanation of the human condition. A couple of small details: Belle's favorite book is "Romeo and Juliet," a play written in the 1600s, and the fact that her mother dies some twenty years before of plague (probably the Black Death), which they assert happened in the mid 1300s. I have just finished listening to a set of lectures on the Black Death (available from The Great Courses), and that outbreak was neither the first nor the last outbreak of the plague. The plague (of which there were three variations) returned many times through out the centuries. Cases still appear today, in the US as well as other parts of the world. There are antibiotics now to stop it, but the symptoms are so little known/recognized and the disease so fast-acting that those who contract it often die before a correct diagnosis is made. The library in the town is not well stocked with books. Historically, it wouldn't necessarily be: even though printing had been around for a century or so, books were still nowhere as readily available as they are today. As well, not many people in that town would be literate nor interested. Remember that Belle was harassed for teaching another little girl to read.

Great scenery, story line and voice acting!! Got have a classic disney movie. Love knowing Belle is still our daughters favorite charactor, which brings back memories for us and her childhood. First movie, our 30 something now son, sat through as a child of 2 and half. The songs are amazing and on Broadway it's like still seeing the movie on screen.

Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite Disney movies since I first watched it as a kid. So I was excited about this human version. It was everything I hoped it would be. I think Belle should of been played by a different, prettier actress; but the one chosen does a great job acting. Definitely a movie to add to your collection.

I loved this live action movie. The animated one is great as well but this version is as good if not better and the acting and singing are fantastic! I bought it for a present for a toddler friend of mine for Xmas. I bought some toys as well like a Belle doll to go along with the movie!

I like when Disney does live adaptation of an animated favorite and keep everything the same like the upcoming Lion King movie. My only Issue was I had to buy two copies becuase I never got digital code and couldn’t find my receipt but price was great to buy it again.

This is a remake of an old story but now incorporates all that cinema has to offer. The color, music and magic make this an interesting, delightful movie to watch. It's a little intense toward the end and at a couple of points within, but it's a good story.

While I have not watched every live action film Disney has put out there yet, this one is a must see! It's not exactly like the original film, which in my opinion is great! The acting is top notch and it is a favorite in our household of old and young alike!

The live action Beauty and the Beast plays just like the cartoon movie of years ago. The only difference here is that you have a song or 2 added & a bit more of a storyline. Otherwise, it really does playout the same way as the cartoon movie. Loved it.

Great movie. At first, I thought that Beauty and the Beast would appeal more to children, and may not keep my attention as an adult. However, I loved it and I was pleasantly surprised. I think anyone of any age can enjoy this movie.

After seeing "Cinderella" in "human" form, had to have "Beauty and the Beast". Loved it - my husband even enjoyed it! A few parts might be a little scary for the younger kids - they involve wolves, on the whole a very nice movie.
