Office on opposite side of home gererally had signals of 1 to 2. Plugged device in to my office outlet -- just to try, to move it half way between router and laptops. Rand the instalations, Extended both the 2.4 band and the 5.0 band, and rebooted. One laptop using 5.0 band now has singles constantly at 5, and the other laptop which uses the 2.4 band has a single constantly at 4. I decided to leave device in office, because I could also use the wired feature on it.

Tech support isn't great. spent an hour on the phone asking a question that should have been answered in 5 minutes. rename the router name to the same name as your main wireless router. I guess it's working because I'm not going over my data plan for our phones.
