Before purchasing this case, I saw the other reviews about the case cracking. Of course I disregarded them, because it looked like a nice case and I wasn't expecting the case I picked to be majorly durable. After all, I only use my iPod at home (i.e., have not taken it to the gym, work, or even into my car). Still, I like to take care of my things so I wanted a case to protect the outside from any light scratches that are inevitable with any kind of use. Would you believe the case has already cracked? How? I cannot answer that question, as I have never dropped it. I noticed the cracking after I added an Invisible Shield onto my iPod. I've provided pictures. The cracking is in the upper right corner, which from its design is an obvious weak point. Was not expecting this though.... The corner of the case is close to breaking off. My case is already broken after minor use within 3 weeks of using it. I tried to go on the Belkin website for customer support in hopes of getting a new one since it's been less than a month.... This case/model isn't even listed on their product list on the Customer Support site. So disappointing. :(

it cracked a little at first on the second week. then the next week another part cracked off. most off the top part has cracked off and the bottom cracked

The most important thing to me in a case, is that the edges go slightly above the screen, to assure a drop straight on it's face doesn't result in a broken screen. This covers that issue. It's clear, so you can see the colors and anything else you have customized on the back of your iPod. I actually bought the newest iPod, and this case is for the generation immediately before it, so it has the hole for the old tether cable (which I wish was still included on the new ones). My only complaint is that dirt still gets between the iPod and the case, and it causes small scratches on the device if you do not clean it very very regularly.

The Belkin Snap Shield Case offers good protection from mild drops and everyday use. I like the case because it doesn't alter the appearance of my device. Very thin and lightweight. Would give 5 stars if the case didn't scratch so easy and the price was more reasonable for what you get.

I wanted some cheap just protect my iPod touch, nothing fancy, this one is a nice clear case, but doesn't protect ur main screen from getting messed up. Very limited selection of products, plenty if u have the phone version, overall not bad for price.

This case is perfect for my new ipod: it is slim and does not add bulk, it provides adequate protection, and I love that it's clear and shows off the bright blue color of the ipod.

Here's the thing: If you're interested in the protective function of a case, this one is good for a little while. If you're interested in the protective and aesthetic functions of a case, this one is good for about two days, then it starts to disintegrate fast -- literally. I assumed when I read everyone else's reviews that their experiences were based on ordinary, average use of an iPod Touch, one that involved putting the device in a pocket or bumping it around in a bag or dropping it on occasion. Mine, however, sits on my desk (believe it or not, I use it for work) and it rarely leaves my desk at all. Yet I'm plagued with the cracking and chipping problems that everyone else seems to have. I'm not really sure what's causing this — it could be that Belkin focused more on the aesthetics than they did the function, and that led them to choose cheap plastic. Or perhaps it's just too tight a fit. Or perhaps it can't handle the temperature that iPod Touches can sometimes reach when used for prolonged periods of time. That said, my device is fine. For now. There's a lot of places where the case has broken off, leaving parts of the aluminum exposed. I guess I'll eventually have to buy another case, and when that time comes, I'll probably have to look beyond Belkin.
