Jack Of All Trades
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS - Does it all (including dehydrate) - Easy to clean, dishwasher safe baskets/crisping trays - Dual baskets with synchronized cooking - Powerful at 1800w - Helpful booklet full of tips and setting guidelines CONS - On the larger side - Trade less surface area for more vertical volume Air fry, roast, broil, bake, reheat AND dehydrate? Air fryers sure have come a long way and at this rate, it may just make toaster ovens obsolete and officially make toasters a thing of the past. Usually when something tries to do too much the majority of it overall suffers but with my experience so far with the Bella Pro Series, it's been up to the task. I've had one air fryer prior to this and we always thought it was great. While it only had a single function, everything came out better than it had before compared to microwaves or ovens. While the size was good for the two of us, we yearned for something bigger for our growing family or when we have company over. With the Bella, we cooked various foods and couldn't believe that everything came out even better. We were particularly impressed with how the fries and vegetables turned out compared to our previous fryer - both of which otherwise cooked ok besides not being able to fit much and the amount of time it took. But the Bella has cooked everything we've tried much faster and more thoroughly. I even tried out frozen waffles on the bake setting and it came out better than it ever did in the toaster oven. At 1800w, the Bella sure has power. I thought maybe when you use both sides it would significantly decrease it's efficiency but it doesn't seem to slow it down much, if at all for smaller items. The booklet is full of times/settings based on single or dual use which is extremely helpful but I didn't have to increase the time for anything yet when using both baskets at the same time. DESIGN/FEATURES Using the controls was a little tricky at first but I quickly got the hang of it. It gives you a huge display making everything simple to read. Some of the touch buttons were more finicky than others but it's not a big deal. I also thought the pause button was broken at first because the unit doesn't immediately stop cooking, it "cools off" before finally pausing so that threw me off before I figured it out. Temperatures can be set by 5 degree intervals anywhere from 170-450 degrees (dehydrate is 90-170 degrees) depending on the setting, really giving you complete control. A couple of additional things worth noting is the option to add a shake reminder where it notifies you with beeps half way through cooking and the synchronized cooking feature which is an absolute treat. While it certainly has a little heft to it, It's actually a bit lighter than it looks. Bella was conscious enough to mold out grooves on the bottom of the sides to help with grabbing and moving which I really did appreciate. The baskets are completely flat (no vents) making it much easier to clean which I definitely love. My previous fryer's basket was nearly completely covered in vents which trapped food when washing it and it was annoying. I was particularly excited for the dehydrate setting. We used a mango for our first try using it. When placing the slices in the baskets we soon realized you can only put so much since you can't crowd when dehydrating. We weren't able to fit the whole mango which was disappointing but more on that below. It's an all day process (mango took 8 hours, possibly more according to the booklet) so it's going to take some getting used to. However, I must say it came out really good. I look forward to trying out some kind of meat next. FLAWS There's only a few things I would consider negatives with the machine and most of them are really just compromises. Since it is a dual basket air fryer with separate elements, naturally the size of the unit is on the bigger size. It will only fit into larger cabinets if you intend to store between uses. In my case only my bottom cabinets have a wide enough opening to put it into so anyone with only average sized or smaller cabinets be warned. It looks plenty nice enough to leave out all the time, though. Considering it does so many different things it really gives you a reason to anyway. Another potential issue compared to other single basket air fryers is each basket has a little less surface area than I would personally like. While you can always use both when cooking the same foods, it can be an issue if making two different foods and/or whatever you are making needs more width as opposed to height. Thus causing you to stack food (fries, for example) which would require longer and more involved cooking. This also comes into play if you care to use the dehydrate setting. After trying to dehydrate the mango for the first time, I felt like I was not getting much out of something that takes 8-10 hours and wonder if doing certain fruits is even really worth it. Smaller fruits would offer a better yield for your time I'm sure as would meat although I can't yet speak directly to any proteins just yet. Finally, my only true problem with the machine is I really wish you had an option for the shake reminder to pause the cooking instead of just flashing the display while giving a short beeping sequence. The beeping is not loud by any means either, so it's easy to miss. You'll still want to set your own timer if it's imperative to turn over/shake whatever it is you're cooking if you aren't close enough to hear it. While almost perfect, like anything else it has it's little quips but for most people they would be none-issues or at best, minor compromises. This makes the Bella Pro Series air fryer as perfect as it could be.

Not user friendly
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is nice but the buttons are not user friendly, you have to touch it in just the right spot and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.. it is very frustrating, the screen will time out while you are either changing the time or the temperature.
