John Carpenter and Kurt Russell are a famous duo in the world of cinema, having worked together on projects like Elvis, Escape From NY, Escape From LA, The Thing, and Big Trouble in Little China. This movie is a staple in 80's action movie nostalgia. Yes, the story is bizarre and yes some of the effects look a bit wonky and cheap compared to today's standards. But what makes this blu ray worth the purchase is the HD picture quality, the special features, and the fact that this movie's success has always been dependent on the charisma and likability of the actors/characters. Kurt Russell is always a joy to watch and hearing him and Carpenter discuss another of their films together in the commentary is so much fun. Well worth the $10 price point to add to your collection.

If you have never seen Big Trouble in Little China, I'm not sure how you have made it this far in life. You are fortunate. You should immediately watch this movie before it's too late. Imagine taking John Wayne as his apex of toughness. Throw him into a fairly standard Saturday afternoon kung fu movie. Now imagine you take away his toughness ability, BUT he still thinks he's the toughest guy around. That is Big Trouble in Little China. Kurt Russell is at his best with his John Wayne voice, asian tank top, full on mullet and his jeans tucked into his boots. He butchers cliche tough lines and somehow says them without laughing. It's one of the best and most underappreciated films ever. Kim Catrall is beautiful and funny and matches Kurt line for line and scene for scene. Watch it, again and again and again.

This movie is a good comedy action movie, Kurt Russell always does a good job in his part of a movie.

Being Asian in the 70s/80s meant a plethora of things. In the movie culture it could be Kung Fu films (with horrendously bad dubbing), Exploitation films that "poked fun" at Asian Stereotypes such as 'They Call Me Bruce', to such memorable, fun classics as Sixteen Candles (Long Duck Dong) and Revenge Of The Nerds (Toshi). This movie falls into the realm of fun, classics that didn't take themselves too seriously thanks to John Carpenter and a tremendous cast. A definite MUST OWN for an 80s kid/ teen.

This is a silly, fun, cheesy 80’s action flick with a nice array of special features. Give it a shot.
