    A must-have for pet owners

The Pet Hair Eraser vacuum is a champ, pure and simple! We use the pet turbo tool to clean the stairs after our Shetland sheepdog and my daughter's cat are done romping through the house. This tool picks up pet hair and dander that are deep in the carpet, so our 7-year old carpet looks a little newer and a lot cleaner. Other attachments work equally well, with no loss of suction--something I would have expected from a more expensive upright. At this price, the Pet Hair Eraser is a bargain. I also like the fact that Bissell is committed to promoting pet welfare through adoption--cats, dogs, horses, birds and other critters.

Overall this is one of the best cheap vacuums out there. I have 3 cats and a one bedroom condo, so you know there is plenty of fur all around. From day one it worked perfectly well, but only after a few months has it begun to lose a little power. I would recommend this to anyone - I have tried a few of the $100 range ones and this is by far the best. I can't speak to the comparison to the higher priced vacuums like Oreck or Dyson though. If I were to make any suggestions it would be to have a retractable cord for plugging it in the wall. Or make it easier to dump the stuff you pick up. It can get messy when it gets fuller.

This is an overall great product. I really do not see a reason to spend the 400 - 500 + on a dyson animal vacuum. The first time I used it it made my carpets look like I had them professionally steam vacuumed and pick up 4 canisters of pet hair/dust. The only draw backs, and I'm really stretching on this, would be the weight and its ackward to use on the steps becasue it really doesn't fit on them. I would reccomend this product to anyone, whether they have a pet or not. You really can't beat the price.

I never, ever, write reviews, but I thought this purchase deserved an A+. I have a very light colored carpet and people sometimes call me a "neat freak". I bought this to replace an older Bissell model. I was shocked. The suction was amazing!!! It picked up the smallest of lint. The only small con is that it is extremely heavy to push around....I am 30 years old and it is hard for even me, but it's worth it for the way my carpet looks. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone!!!

Decent vacuum, but it needs some work. A litttle heavy and the cord is too short, so the vacuum has a tendency to fall over when using the hand tools.

Logically, no person should be as excited about a vacuum as I am about my new 'toy' but I cannot help it. We have a large property, four dogs and four cats that move in and out all of the time...and a lot of dust. Past vacuums have never been able to stand up to the job and I was about to give up when I came across this product. I'd heard a lot about the Dyson in the past but couldn't justify shelling out 500 bucks for a vacuum. Thank goodness I checked out Best Buy. All of these great reviews couldn't possibly be wrong and believe me, they are not. From the moment I pulled it out of the box, I knew this was something special, and after slipping in three quick screws, I was off and running. This piece of equipment is amazing and, for a very reasonable price, I added a four year extended warranty onto it, though I'm not anticipating any problems. I've had it now for about a month and while I have to change the canister often (because it sucks up so much stuff), I'm certainly as happy as I could be. It weighs about 20lbs, I believe, but for me, it's not been any trouble at all and I personally think that the little extra weight helps it move smoother across the carpet. No complaints on this thing! What it comes down to it- If you own a pet (kids, or a husband), you need this machine! I'd suggest stopping your search now and then running out and buying this.

Just bought it, brought it home and was very amazed. It will show you where you need to steam clean! Amazing on dog hair and dirt. I've never seen my floors so clean and I clean a lot! Reviews show shoddy parts and I can believe it. Very squeaky when running, and this sucker is loud. Canister is pretty darn small and I could see how the filter cleaning could be messy. BIGGEST PROBLEM.....NO BAR SHUT OFF!!!! Sit it on carpet at the highest setting for a couple minutes (about the time to do the stairs) and you'll see how big of an issue this is. I now have an area of carpet that has been sucked higher than the rest and it really shows. The knap of the carpet has been untwisted and looks very frizzy. This is a fatal flaw to this vac. Let's hope it lasts past the magical three week period. Not holding my breath. I'm writing Bissell next!

    Excellent Vacuum

As others have mentioned, this vacuum WILL clean your carpet. You'll be amazed how much it picks up. For a point of reference, I have been using a Hoover Wind Tunnel for the last seven years or so. I want to say right off, that contrary to what some others have posted in their review, I didn't find the vacuum to be too loud at all. It rolls very easy and has a nice, long cord. I want to say again, it really sucks up the dirt and carpet fibers. It is nearly perfect. The things that kept me from giving it five stars are: The cup that holds the vacuumed material is pretty small; I had to dump it five or six times during the vacuuming of my 1500 square foot house. I'm hoping that number will decrease after I have used a few times and brought my carpet up to snuff. The other thing about the cup is that it is open on top, so I found that I needed to jiggle the cup a little before removing it to dump, in order to get the loose material in the cyclone to fall into the cup instead of on the cup seat. Also, the hose doesn't sit in the side holder as snugly as I would like. The hose kind of dangles at the bottom, but never came out of the holder. Finally, the vacuum is s bit top-heavy, so because of the location of the electrical cord, be careful when pulling it behind you when using the hose/wand. It will be prone to falling over. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying this vacuum, because as I said, it really does it's job well, and that's what is most important to me.

If you have pets- stop right here, get in your car and go buy this vacuum. I have two cats a bird and a messy husband. I am a "nesting" pregnant lady and have suddenly become obsessed with uber clean floors. I am a clean person and our bedroom was vacuumed a week ago. My husband just took out this marvelous machine and proceeded to fill the canister TWICE with what appears to be another couple of cats!! You can actually hear it sucking the tiny sand from deep within the carpet!! This vacuum is amazing and actually does everything it says that it does. My husband keeps coming downstairs to show me just how disgusting our carpet has been all this time which really is quite disturbing. TRUST ME, BUY THIS VACUUM!!!

    Most Amazing Vacuum

I was shocked at how well the pet accessories truly worked as well as the superior job this vacuum has done in my house of two cats (one a serious fluffy wonder). You know I had to do the vacuum test (first vacuum with old and try new)- I was just disgusted at what my other Dirt Devil left behind that this one found. I haven't seen a vacuum this good since the days of the old heavy weight Kirbys - and I have to admit this one surpasses those just by the attachements ease of use, flexible hose and filter indicator. This is a serious MUST for a pet owner. And who needs self propelled when this one has so much powerful it practically drags you through the house. Definitely a technique to master when it comes to vacuuming a rug of any size - it's so powerful and even with attachments - vacuuming a rug is a bit of a trial. Oh and as far as my "con" goes.. I had this delivered, and it was mostly put together in the box, but of course minor assembly was required so I relied on the instruction book - the book already assumed some parts were on that were not - so I had extra parts to figure out, ended up having to remove what I did put on to figure out by images where the others were meant to go - but even with all this it was very quick to put together. Would've appreciated a more thorough 'how to' guide though.

    Favorite vacuum

This is my 6th bagless vacuum and my favorite! I tend to replace vacuums about every year or so, because they do not live up to my expectations. So far this one has been fantastic! My husband keeps asking me if I shampooed the carpets and I say No, just used the Pet Eraser. This has an amazing ability to pick up hair & dirt. The dirt cup is not small in comparison to other bagless vacs that I have used. It is not too heavy for me to carry up and down steps. I do feel that the placement of the cord is a little low and I end up holding the cord in my free hand to keep from running over it. I seem to have some difficulty getting the curved wand back into it's correct place, but that could just be me. I wish that the rotator head shut off when i'm using the attachements & lay the vacuum down so that the beater brush doesn't continue to run in one spot. Overall, I love this vacuum and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great vacuum @ a fair price. I had considered buying one of those really expensive ones, but after comparing the reviews, couldn't justify spending that much on a vacuum and am glad that I bought this one.

WOW! What a great vacuum! Not only did it pass the pet hair test (3 cats and 1 dog!), but also passed the Christmas tree test with flying colors. I bought this vacuum the day my tree came home and I realized that my older vacuum just wasn't up to task anymore. It did a great job and I ran around with it doing the rest of the house. One of the things I really like about it is how long the accessory hose is. My other vacuum was also a Bissell, but had a detatchable canister for the ease of stairs. I was worried that I would end up lugging this heavier vacuum stair by stair to clean, but that wasn't the case at all. I parked it at the bottom and the hose was long enough for me to do the entire flight of stairs without ever even knocking the vacuum over or overstreatching the hose. And the pet hair attatchment did a great job on the carpeted stairs as well as the micro-fiber furniture. And the final test? The huge pile of pine needles once that dried up Christmas tree was finally removed! What a champ this vacuum is! I would absolutely recommend this vacuum to anyone with either pets or Christmas trees that shed on the carpet!

My son has allergies and I needed to clean up the dust and pet dander left by my friends dog. My last vacuum broke down (a dirt devil with hepa) and I started researching vacuums that are good for pet hair and allergens. I read all the reviews for the Pet Hair Eraser vacuum on this site and others, and decided to give it a try. The reviewers were right! This vacuum is awesome! It has very strong suction power and I couldn't believe the amount of dirt that came out of my carpets. It actually made me queasy seeing it and knowing that my 6 year old had been playing on those carpets and lying down on them. The attachments work well for my stairs and furniture. The only thing I don't like is that the canister doesn't have a lid or safety, so when you pull it out, it's easy for the contents to spill out. Therefore, I always detach the canister right next to the garbage can so nothing spills back on the floor. I love that it has a canister instead of bags, because buying bags is pricey and inconvenient. All in all, a great vacuum for a low price and I definitely recommend it.

    Forget Dyson

After my wife's expensive filter queen seemed to quit working like it was supposed to I decided to start looking for a new vacuum. I was looking at a dyson since I had only heard good things about them but decided to do some research and read some reviews and boy am I glad that I did. We have two inside dogs that are shedding really bad this time of year so I was looking at animal vacs. Before reading the reviews here I was ready to drop $500 in a dyson. After reading the reviews on this vacuum I decided to give it a try since it was only $160 and that was with the extended protection. Assembly was very easy and overall I was impressed with everything that came with it. We had just use the filter queen a couple days earlier and I decided to try this vac out to see if it lived up to all of the reviews. This thing sucked up everything the filter queen left behind and then some. I had to empty the container twice just using it in the bedroom. If you are looking at a dyson consider this one for 1/3 the price you will be glad you did.

To many times you see the comercials on tv that show a product that doesn't even come close to doing everything it seems to do on tv. You will not get that here... This vacuum is wonderful!!! I was totally happy with my older upright before I purchased the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.. I only bought the Bissell because my wife and I recently added an English Bulldog to our family and my old upright did not have the means to vacuum the sofa where she loves to lay. The vacuum arrived, my wife started vacuuming the carpet just to see how well the new Bissell would work and almost instantly you could see the dirt and dust spinning around inside the bagless container!!! I could not believe my eyes.. Before the room was completely vacuumed, we had to stop and empty the container.. I was blown away, I lay and play with my children on this carpet!! We went from room to room and received the same results.. If you are thinking of purchasing a new vacuum, I know you will love the Bissell and acheive the same results as my Wife and I did!

Horrible! My Worst Product Purchase - Ever !!!!!!

I have had this vacuum several months and wish I had noticed all it's problems earlier on. My husband usually vacuums but after a few attempts he gave up with this vacuum. He kept telling me how bad it was and I didn't believe until I started using it myself. Unfortunately, time has passed so now it is too late to return it. This is just a terribly designed product. My partial list: the area for the cord storage is too short so you reel and reel the cord on, the hose falls off while vacuuming and drags on the floor, it's too heavy, when you clean the dirt cup the dirt falls all over the vacuum/floor and you (I end up cleaning the vacuum every time), while vacuuming dirt spits out the bottom back of the machine, dirt spews out the side hepa filter, you need to clean out the bottom filter which again spits out more dirt, the attachments don't work IF you can pry them off the vacuum (another problem), the attachment hose must be in a certain position when not in use and it falls off causing yet more dirt to fly out of the vacuum and there is a strip on the front of the vacuum (velcro strip) of no value whatsoever, but when it is disengaged it prevents you from adjusting the carpet setting on the machine! This past weekend whiie I vacuumed the carpets with this machine my husband followed behind me with his shop vac to pick up the fluff and stuff that came out of the vacuum or was left behind. I have been in touch with Bissell and they will replace this vacuum with another one - same model so what's the point unless they have made many improvements, This vacuum is a worthless mess - don't waste your money. I am in the market for a new vacuum after just 4 months of having this one. This vacuum spits out so much dirt that I must always dust after using it. Lot's of fun! This isn't just the worst vacuum I've ever owned it ranks as the worst product I've ever purchased!

My wife and I just bought this vac today and could not wait to see how well it would do on our carpet. We just got a Dog 2 months ago and have a baby on the way so we wanted to get a really good vac to keep our place clean, but not spend $400 for one. This vac does great! We have had the same old vac for about 6 years and it doesn't even compare to this one. Being in a desert climate, there is always dust and dirt everywhere. This vac will pick up everything. We have a 1250 square foot place and we had to empty the canister twice because this vac picked up more stuff than our old vac. I would recommend this vac to anyone who doesn't want to spend $400 on a Dyson and to anyone with any size dog. You will not regret this purchase. Also, get the 4 year service plan. I know a lot of people will think I am crazy, but $19.99 for a 4 year warranty is not too bad. Think of it as a warranty for your car. If somethings wrong with your car,you take it in and get it fixed.

This vacuum cleaner really lives up to all the good reviews I've read about it. I was going to buy a more expensive one this time, but I found it wasn't necessary. I can leave the vacuum on the floor and the hose reaches all the way up the stairs. I also love the contour pet tool. It gets all the hair stuck to the sides, bottom, and edges of the stairs that regular attachments can't touch. I lay the vacuum down to use the attachments so the roller bar doesn't dig into the carpet, as some have complained about. Just be sure to keep pets and children away from the exposed roller bar. By the way, we have 3 dogs and 1 cat, all long haired. It gets up all the hair and more with great suction. The specifications for this vacuum state that it's not self propelled, as some have said, but I can see why they thought it was, because it seems to glide across the carpet. I just love this vacuum! Thanks to all who recommended it. Thank you, Bissell, too!

Worked Good for a few months

First let me say this is an inexpensive vacuum, so some cons are expected. With that said I am very impressed with the suction with this device. I am able to vacuum the entire level of the house without losing suction and not having to empty the bin until finished. We have a large, long hair dog and it does a great job sucking up the hair. The accessories are awesome at sucking the debris off furniture and stairs. Now for the minor cons. The handle doesn’t feel comfortable when using this machine. It has kind of a hoop handle and to me it could have been designed different. Another minor con it that the hose connections fit very loose and tend to pop off from time to time thus cutting off suction to the brush. I just have grown accustomed to watching it and put it back together when it comes off. A more major con is the brush turns all of the time. It seems odd that there would not be a cut off for the brush on a model that boasts its accessories for pet hair. When you use the accessories on stairs that brush just spins away even though it just sits there. For the price I can see it not having the option, but as much as this vacuum is used with the accessories it should have been added even if it bumped the price a few bucks. All this being said I would have still been happy with it until….. After owning it for about 5 months the brush bushings wore out causing a major vibration and making it very loud. I usually vacuum 2-3 times per week (remember a big hairy dog!). The stairs are usually done about once a month. While it may get used a little more than normal I really expected it to last longer. I called Bissell and found out the brush isn’t covered under the warranty. I can understand the belt and filters not being covered, but the brush?! That doesn’t seem right. I will say that “As a onetime courtesy” Bissell agreed to send a new brush out without charge. That was nice and I do appreciate that. I hope the part was just defective and the new one won’t wear out in another 5 months. In closing, for the inexpensive price it does a very nice job. In fact it does a much better job than our more expensive one. However with a part wearing out so quickly the performance benefit you get is eclipsed by the unreliability. If you don’t need to vacuum often this might work for you, but regular to medium use you may be buying a new one sooner that you expect. I hope this helps.
