Customers admire this vacuum's powerful suction and excellent carpet cleaning capabilities, frequently praising its ability to remove pet hair and dirt. However, some users find it heavy and report issues with the belt breaking and a high noise level. Other concerns include the motor's durability and the need for frequent filter cleaning.

I recently adopted two cats and since summer started , they have been shedding like crazy. My old vacuum (Dirt Devil Reaction D2) wasn't meant to vacuum pet hair so it wasn't working well anymore. I searched online and found all of these customer reviews, which were very accurate and helpful. This vacuum does a great job of vacuuming up all pet hair (even cat litter and bits of food), as well as dirt and everything else. The Bissell pulled up so much stuff from my carpet that I had to empty it 4 times while vacuuming my small apartment (I was in awe).
The hoses were a little difficult to maneuver while vacuuming (you kind of have to unwind them) and dirt collects under the dirt container, but those small inconveniences still made it well worth the purchase. I don't think I've ever enjoyed vacuuming before - but now that I have one that works, I don't mind!

My last vacuum was also a Bissell and it appeared to keep my floors clean, but when I used the Pet Hair Eraser Bissell I was so impressed. We have 3 dogs, 2 kids running around our house.
When I brought the vacuum home I thought my carpets were clean. To play around and test the new one I plugged it in. By the wat it only took 5 minutes to put it together (only 3 screws to assemble). I could not believe how much dander and hair was still in my carpet that was collected in the canister. And the other thing I noticed was the dog hair was not all caught up in the rollers which happened very frequently with my other vacuum.
For $150.00 this is well worth the money, my sister saw how well it worked and thought I paid $400.00 for it. I actaully had to show her the receipt because she could not believe how great the product was for that price.

I love the vacuum and how it really cleans my floors and couches. All the attachments work great. The longer hose is really nice when you are vacuuming the stairs. I would recommend this to anyone with pets. I really wanted a Dyson but couldn't spend the money. I'm glad Bissell came out with this vacuum.

Recently my old Eureka went and died on me so I decided to do my research and buy a new top of the line model. I was about to shell out the dough for a Dyson until I read all the reviews for the Bissell pet hair eraser. I decided to take a chance and man was it worth it!! I was able to vacuum my entire home without unplugging once and got all the stubborn pet hair out of all the nooks and crannies! My carpets look like new. I was really disturbed at how many times I had to empty the canister since I thought my house was clean. I can't believe the stuff that was lurking in my carpet! I am in love with my vacuum and I hope my husband doesn't get jealous!!

This thing pulls up so much stuff you'ld think you hadn't vaccumed before! It really does an outstanding job! It's kind of big and heavy but I'm willing to overlook that since it does such a good job! I'ld buy it again.

I had this vacuum cleaner for app. 8 months. I had to replace the belt and roller after 4 months and then had to replace the roller after another 4 months. It appears that dirt gets clogged up in the roller housing. Then the roller will stop spinning and then the motor overheats causing the plastic roller and/or belt to melt. Works well on carpet but no so great on bare floors.

A great vacuum for picking up pet hair on furniture and on stairs. I love the ease of cleaning with the removable dirt bin and the extra accessories are PERFECT for whatever job you may have. I love this vacuum!

Do not buy this product if you own a home or more the one pet. The bottom foam filter has to be clean constantly, brush collects hair. Cord is in an odd spot and in the way. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Yes it does pick up some hair but with a total of 4 animals I am not impressed at all. When I saw it said pet hair eraser I was expecting a lot more. Apparently it is just for if you have one pet or a pet that doesn't shed much.

Cleans well, but...

This vacuum does clean well, but trying to empty the canister is a challenge. It generates static electricity in the cyclone so the fur always gets all over the place when you empty it. You must exercise caution when putting the canister back into place. Very easy to not get it lined up properly. Then, you get a bad seal (and little suction).
Power cord placed oddly. Should be higher.
Good vacuum overall. Does pick up well. Should hire new engineers for the next model. Perhaps they could test it before it went to production.

Just bought this today. Made our carpet look 10 times better than it did before. We had our carpet cleaned by professionals and it still had dirt marks. After using this thing those dirt marks came out.

Very disappointed

I bought one of these about a year and a half ago. When it was new, I was fairly happy with it. It wasn't as good as the Hoover Windtunnel my wife kept when we split up, but it was also $80-$100 less. After about 6 months, the problems became more obvious.
First, the dust bin does not get a very good seal when put in place. Second, the portions that generate the cyclonic action are difficult to get in and out and you can't actually see when it's dirty up there. The vacuum clogs up very easily, and it didn't takemuch cat hair in the dust bin before the suction quickly faded. The height adjustment on the vacuum didn't really do anything, leaving the height at the lowest setting. This overworked the beater and its belt. So it would quickly burn through belts, and I mean "burn" very literally. Every 6 months you would know the belt was going because the whole house would smell like burnt rubber.
Now, the vacuum is completely dead. I replaced it the similarly priced Hoover Windtunnel (UH70120) and it has only made me more disappointed in the Bissel. The Hoover went together with just one screw. The dustbin is much easier to access to empty and clean, and the power button being on the handle makes things a lot easier as well. I obviously can't speak to differences in durability. But it would be really hard for the Hoover to be worse on that end.

Buy the Eureka Pet Lover Instead

I bought this vacuum, to pick up dog hair and other debris. I did some research and decided on this one. On first use it was amazing...picked up everything...couldn't even vacuum my area rugs because it ate them...amazing suction. BUT then, I went to use it a second time.....needless to say I could vacuum my rugs...even on the lowest setting....the suction was completely gone. So i cleaned all the inside filters...everything, and it made no difference what so ever. Also, there was loud high pitched noises coming from it...sounded like leaks....perhaps bissel made the first vaccum ever that is only supposed to be used once. I went out and purchased Eureka's Boss Smartvac Pet Loves vacuum (the bagged one). This new Eureka Pet Lover vac is the best vacuum I have ever used....literally picks up everything. THe attachments are way better than the Bissell. So to all those reading reviews....DO NOT BUY the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser!!! Buy the Eureka Pet Lover instead and make sure it's the bagged version....bagless vacuums just don't cut it.

We bought this vac to replace a 10 year old Hoover we were given. We recently adopted a puppy who sheds like crazy, and we needed a vac that could do the job and withstand the use. So far so good. It was also on sale at the time of purchase which only sweetened the deal.
Like I said, a bit heavy to haul up and down stairs, and the "pet claw" tool may not be the greatest, but it gets the job done. You still need to put some effort into cleaning, but that will never change.

Not an experience I've enjoyed

Because I didn't want to spend 3-4 times what I spent on the Bissell Pet Hair eraser, I went ahead and purchased it. The saying "you get what you pay for" is really accurate for this purchase.
The vacuum is top heavy which makes your arm really tired after just a short time of vacuuming. The machine does seem to have pretty good suction, but when it's time to empty the canister the dust/dirt/hair flies everywhere and you and the machine are dirty and hard to get clean.
The on/off switch is on the front unlike many vacuums where you can use a foot switch. This is awkward and just another step in the process to a job that we all want to be easier not more difficult.
The attachments are plastic and don't fit in their designated storage spots very well. While vacuuming, a couple just kept falling out.
If I hadn't already put this machine together and used it I would return it and spend the extra $ for something easier to use and more efficient.

Works great.... for a month or so

Bought this vacuum because of all of the good reviews. Worked great for about a month or two. I found I had to empty the canister all the time and also clean another filter above the canister.
Then I noticed that the brush on the attachment for pet hair was not rotating. Then I noticed that things weren't being picked up when vacuuming the carpet. I looked closer and realized there was very little suction. Cleaned everything out again and it was still not working well.
I have been trying to use it to get my money out of it but I'm now giving up and will try a Hoover that has a bag.
The other thing I found was that this unit is very heavy. Some people commented on it being light but I find it to be very heavy. I have three levels in my home and it is very difficult to negotiate the stairs.
Speaking of stairs, it does a terrible job on them as well. Based on my experience I would strongly suggest another vacuum if not another vendor entirely.

i needed a vacuum, and did not want to spend a lot of money, i did not think i could get a good vacuum for the price of this one, i was wrong, i like most everything about it. so with that said, i will keep this short, the things i dislike: when the pet hair catcher is flipped up to do tile, it does not fit under cabnets, when it is down it does not get close to the base board, and emptying the container can be some what difficult to not spill any dirt, even being ultra careful and doing so with a little amount of dirt in it. overall good product, good out weighs the bad.
