This vacuum is a complete waste of money

After owning this vacuum for one year, it was a complete waste of money and I am once again on the search for a new vacuum. When I first brought it home, I loved it. My two 'cons' were that the vacuum was slightly heavier than any other vacuum I had used and the dirt canister was not very large. However, it worked great. Picked up all kinds of dirt and hair. After reading mixed reviews on the vacuum and deciding to take a chance and buy it, I was very happy with its performance within the first 6 months. After 6 months the suction became less and less. When I use the attachment tools, it blows dust and dirt out of side. And now after a year, it hardly picks anything up and makes a burning smell after being on for a few minutes. I have cleaned out the vacuum, made sure the belt is fine and cleaned the roller. I am not sure what more I could do with it but it does not function for my two dog and toddler household. I am very disappointed in this product and hope that this review will help prevent someone else from making the same mistake, because $150 is a lot of money to only get 1 year of use.

    Awesome vacuum

This vacumm is probably the best I have used EVER. I only have one cat and I vacuum almost everyday. I was SHOCKED by how much pet hair this got off of the floor. The tools are great, and it doesn't seem to lose suction, like other vacuums tend to do. The downsides- the exhaust is hot (no big deal) and the hose is about a foot too short...

My aunt recommended this vaccum to me and at first I was really happy. Then the second month it began to loose suction. So my aunt told me to clean all the filters, I did and the suction may have increased a little. I have had this unit for probably about 7 months now and it whines and acts like something is caught in the brush, but I can't find anything. I have snaked the hoses and the suction is just getting worse. It makes a great doorstop. I guess it is true, you do get what you pay for, so I am moving up.

I love this vacuum! I have had it since Christmas and everytime I use it I am surprised how much pet hair and dirt comes out of the carpet. I have three short haired dogs and it is amazing how much they drag into the house. If you have pets you need this vacuum! The price is right buy it now! Best of Luck! doe

I used my old vacuum first. Then used this one to test it. It blew my old one away! Within minutes I had to empty the canister. More than once! I have two yellow labs that are in the house and it removed more hair than I thought was there! To be honest I kinda felt dirty! Lol, Great buy.

Bought this vacuum a year and a half ago. Tools are worthless. They don't pick up pet hair at all. When I vacuum it gets the floor better on the belt side then the other side. I've gone through a lot of belts also. My old vacuum ($50 new) didn't go through belts this much. I went to use it this morning and it won't turn on. I know it only came with a year warranty but for that amount of money you would expect a longer usage out of a vacuum. I would not recommend this vacuum.

Bought this vaccum for a Christmas present and have heard nothing but praises from my wife. She loves that there is no more bag changing and with two German Shepards there is no dog smell with the built in filter. Highly recommend this product for the price.

While using the attachment for stairs the brush continues to rotate on the bottom of the vaccuum. The first time I used it I put the vaccuum on the carpet and it made a white "fluff" mark. Be careful to only set it on hard floors while using attachments.

I have 2 shelties and 2 cats, so I have a lot of hair in my house. I vacuum everyday and this vacuum picks up the dander and other gross stuff. I did not realize how much my other vacuum sucked. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with pets.

    Not worth the money

I'd rather have bought two "disposable" vacs than this one. It simply isn't worth the money. It has no more power than a cheap Dirt Devil I used to have. I have to go over my carpets several times before I achieve any success. I doesn't draw in hair well on low pile and hardwood floors. I have to hunt the hair out of the edges and corners. Hair constantly gets stuck in its various chambers and has to be cleaned out with every use or you will lose suction. When that happens it makes so big of a mess that you actually need another vacuum to clean this one out (my cheap disposable one that doesn't clog). The Bissell has a "cute" way of making it seem like the detachable/portable portion of the vacuum makes it better or worth the retail price but it just isn't worth spending a $100 more than your average vacuum. Again, buy two "disposables" before buying this one. As a matter of fact, I own several Bissell products (two different carpet cleaners, etc, I bought them all at once with the vacuum) and they all have grossly underperformed and proven to not be worth their investment in a very, very short period of time. I have been in contact with Bissell about it. Both carpet cleaners broke within a couple of months, about a dozen uses. I have bought several vacs over the life of my two dogs (because I wear a vacuum out) and hands down the Eureka Boss upright has been the best I have had yet. I should have just bought that one again but I thought that spending more money would mean a better vacuum.

Next time i'm spending more then $150 for a vacuum and buying something that lasts. THis vacuum is great for first 6 months to a year. After that it looses a lot of suction power and does not pick up the cat hair as easily as it did before. I have a black angora who is constantly shedding and have to vacuum twice or three times a weeke. This "pet hair" vac just doesn't cut it over a long period of time. Save your money and invest in something that lasts.

As a professional housekeeper I use units that cost 2 to 3 times as much and this doesn"t let me down. I don't know about longevity yet, but it seems to be well build. The best price I found was at Best Buy.

    I hate this thing...

I would love to push this thing right off a cliff. I bought it about a year ago, and during that time, it has become completely useless. I have hardwood floors; the only carpet I need to vaccum is a medium-sized living room rug. I have 2 shorthair cats, so we're not talking about a huge amount of hair to pick up, and I use a hand-held wet/dry vaccum to pick up the hair on my hardwoods. Anyway, when I first got it, I thought it was great at sucking the hair off the rug. But shortly thereafter, things just went down hill - even when the container is practically empty, it doesn't function well. I have to go over the same area repeatedly, and even then, it still won't really pick up the hair. This past weekend, I went to vaccum the rug, and noticed that the vaccum has now started to spit what little hair is in the container back out, leaving more hair on the rug than was there before I started vaccuming!! That's what prompted me to write this review; I've had it. I am now in the process of looking for a replacement. This was NOT money well. spent.

Could Not Recommend This Vacuum Cleaner

This is one of the worst vacs I have ever purchased. I have purchased quite a number of them. I get only 3 or 4 years out of each one. The dirt this vac picked does not go in the cup, it goes everywhere else on the machine. I spoke to a person at Bissell, and after being instructed to take apart the (brand new!) machine, this did improve somewhat, but not completely. Everytime the machine is turned off it leaves a little pile of dirt where it sits. I bought the machine for the pet hair remover brush. The brush has NO suction. There are 4 holes on the side of the brush that bleed off all suction. There is also an insert sheet that instructs that the brush is to be pulled toward you "in a gentle raking motion". Lint brush anyone? I get better results with a lint brush and then picking up the hair with my old vacuum, as I have always done. Needless to say, this machine is being packed up and taken back to Best Buy. I will continue to use my old vac until I can find something better.

    Hate this vacuum

I bought this vacuum in August 2008. It worked wonderfully at first, even the first 6 months, I thought this was the best vacuum ever! After then it started to not be. I show American Pit Bull Terriers, so I have four of them in my house, a cat, 2 pet rats, and 2 pet hedgehogs, so we have our fair share of pet hair. I am also severely allergic to dogs, so we vacuum daily. I would not recommend this vacuum. It is always getting clogged with hair or small fluff from a shredded dog toy. Yes, I do pick up big pieces before I vacuum the floor. I have never been so angry with a vacuum before. I had a cheap little $40 vacuum, I luckily still had in the garage that I have started using now, because even that one works better than this one. The price on this one was good, especially if it would have continued to work as well as it did at first.
