Black Mass - 3rd review This is a well done film about the reign of lifetime ciminal Boston Whitey Bolger. Bolger was able to leverage his realtionship with the FBI to operate untouched for years, so it's a great story to see how the incompetent or complicit FBI agent made things happen. Johnny Depp was pretty good in the lead role.

I'm from the Boston area and everyone was familiar with the situations presented in Black Mass. However, Johnny Depp's portrayal sent chills down my spine the whole movie. Mob movies take a whole different turn when they are real and are local to the viewer. This is an accurate movie for backdrop, appearance and actor performance.

This movie shows the rise and fall of one of America's most ruthless gangsters. He took on a hands on approach doing many killings himself. This movie also exposes the corruption of the government and law officials in the FBI allowing this gangster to be untouchable for a long period of time! Definitely worth the purchase!

While it's not the best Gangster movie ever made, it still offers solid action, story and acting. Well worth seeing and owning if you're a fan.

The movie black mass is one that i will watch many times .it is a good movie. Johnnie Depp portrays the character very realistically. I liked the content of the movie. I also liked the period of time that was covered for the true portrayal. The purchase price was very reasonable as with Best Buy products.

Johnny Depp was incredible. As his second outing as a REAL Gangster hit you to the core with a scary and authentic portrayal. Definitely recommend.

Black Mass is based on the true life story of Boston gangster (don't call him) Whitey Bolger..Was he as vile and sociopathic as portrayed by Johnny Depp? I would hope such a person could not exist. Depp gives an incredible and complex performance buried under tons of make-up and pulls it off.Recommended.

Black Mass is based on a real-life story that my husband and I are fascinated with, so when we heard this movie was coming out, we were very excited! We missed it in theaters, so couldn't wait to get ahold of it on video. Best Buy had great online delivery service, and Johnny Depp did great as the lead role!

Very good historical drama on the Boston Irish mob! Depp shows he can excell inany role they give him! He shows the cold, cruel, essence of the character without making him cartoonish. Warning: Some extremely violent bloody scenes. Depp shows what makes this monster tick. Well worth the time and price.

I did a paper of Whitey in college and the movie was pretty accurate to his real life. The writers just filled in the little details with their own accounts, but still a great movie. This is one of the most believable mob movies I have yet to come across. Ruthless, calculating, and very meticulous!

Johnny Depp is no stranger to playing odd and strange characters. In this movie he shows how well he can stretch into a part. He plays a more modern gangster in this movie and it is engaging to watch. i would recommend this movie. The film is rated "R" so use your judgement as to the younger viewers.

Ugly Johnny Depp is funny and the things that his character does are quite amusing although brutish and historically accurate. A great story for the mobster/history buff in all of us. Might be slow at part but does not lack an edge of your seat tension on "what will he do next."

It's been awhile Since Depp has been cast in a good movie role.His last several efforts have been pretty much a bust This one though is excellent in only my opinion. He worked his magic in ways I didn't think he could. If you enjoy crime, violence and drama it's worth a look.

Depp is brilliant in this movie, his performance is so intense, and the rest of the cast do an amazing job as well. One of the best crime films of its genre. A must own for movie collectors in my opinion.

If you are from this area where the movie was about you will get more information through out the movie over and above what was read in the newspapers. This is a great movie with a bunch of great actors.If you are not from the area this is still a good movie with a great plot.

It took a couple times of watching the movie to get through the whole thing. It took me a little more time then some movies to really get into it but once I did I thought it was a good movie that I am happy to add to my collection. Johnny Depp really is a great actor.

Johnny Depp is my all time favorite actor, he plays many roles but i must say in this movie he does an excellent job playing his character this movie is a MUST see and MUST own for your gangster collection of movies amazing story amazing action just all out Blow out movie.

If you like Johnny Depp then this is a must see. As with a lot of his movies, his makeup and acting skills make you completely forget it's him in a very short time. You can always tell how much he researches a character by his performance. Once agian a great job by Depp.

Black Mass may be Johnny Depp's best movie yet. The make-up and clothing really immerse you into his character and forget it's him playing someone else. The Blu-ray extras are fantastic and shows how Depp was transformed into Whitey Bulger. An excellent movie.

Saw this in the theater on a whim, loved it. Couldn't wait for the blu ray to not only watch it again, but have it in my massive collection of blu rays. Loved it especially because it's a true story, also recommend watching the Netflix documentary on Whitey Bulger
