I was really excited about this movie coming out. I have read a few books about Whitey Bulger. He's a very interesting man. I am also a fan of Johnny Depp. While I did like the movie I think I may have hyped myself too much for this as I expected more.

Makes you feel good when our FBI gives short time to cold blooded killers to get one guy and the 1 agent takes the fall for the whole corrupt field office. The movie is good but being from Boston I already knew the story before it come out on video.

Excellent movie. Thrilling and entertaining. Can't go wrong with blu-ray. Grest deal as digital copy was included. Great for your collection. Johnny did an awesome job.

This movie gets mixed reviews, but when judged objectively you need to admit it's very well done. It's a great flick to watch when you have a few buddies over, but it's likely not a 'first date' movie to sit through with a prospective girlfriend.

Depp has never been more menacing. There is no doubt that he will harm you if he feels you have crossed him. In addition to Johnny, the supporting cast was very good. The fact that he didn't get an Oscar nomination was very disappointing.

Great gangster film! Thought I would have a difficult time with Johnny Depp being bald & portraying Whitey Bulger. But he did really well. Great writing and just the right amount of mob action! An immediate classic if you love the mob genre!

Johnny Depp masters this character...he is a monster in the shadows. this role was perfect for him. once again this is based off of actual events. if you like mafia movies, classics, you will love this one...its a must see..

Black Mass was okay. It wasn't great. Depp does a good job, but his make up looked pretty bad at times. I never really felt connected to any of the characters and didn't really care what happened to them. I think if this wasn't based on a true story it would be completely dismissed as another "run-of-the-mill" gangster movie. Overall, I'd probably give it two stars if it wasn't a true story. I usually think that this is worth at least one star by itself, it adds meaning to a film that can't be ignored even if the film itself lacks the energy, depth, immersion, and storytelling that makes great movies great.

From beginning to end, I was so intrigued with the story. Can’t believe it’s based on true events! Johnny Depp did an amazing job and the directing was top notch

It was nice to see Johnny Depp get back to some real acting. Don't get me wrong. He's great in kids movies, but he takes so many weird and quirky roles. This is a great portrayal of Whitey Bulger. Watch it. You won't regret it.

I didn't know much about the history of Whitey, but upon referral from a friend, I bought this anyway. Movie is an instant classic and Johnny Depp played his best performance in recent years. Highly recommended if you like mob movies.

Cold cruel and smart. Johnny depp once again aces a character this time a gangster! Movie is based on a true story and is sometimes a bit choppy but with such a strong supporting cast movie is a must watch for any gangster fan!

I really enjoyed this movie and as usual Johnny Depp gave a great performance. He almost never fails to completely take on the persona of the characters he portrays and this film showcased his immense acting talents once again.

This is a no nonsense fact based movie! I enjoyed the story plot and action sequences. Depp was amazing and to the point! Don't watch this film if you have a sensitive stomach lol definitely a hit and highly recommended to watch!

The film on "whitey" bulger was very authentic and good, however while I enjoyed Johnny Depps performance, the hair, makeup, and especially the fake blue contacts distracted a lot from his performance in my opinion.

A very well done account of a real-life living gangster, masterfully portrayed by Johnny Depp. It was hard at times differentiating him from the real Whitey Bulger, and kept my interest from the first minute to the last.

In my opinion Black Mass was the greatest film of the year. It is the best film in history depicting gangs, mob and crime leaders. If you liked Public Enemies, Black Mass blows it out of the water. Incredible film!

I don't want to ruin the story for you, so let me say it like this: If you like gangster movies you'll enjoy Johnny Depp's portrayal of Southie gangster James "whitey" Bulger's rise to power to his FBI most wanted list fall.

Such a great story! Extremely well acted. Johnny Depp disappeared and all I saw was James Whitey Bulger. A+
