This is a very competent game. Compare to SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy, it is the better game with lot's of indie game and small studio game characters.

We are getting spoiled with fighting games on the Switch. So much so that I sadly think this game will get overlooked. It is actually a fantastic, simplistic fighter. It is easy to get into but still has enough depth to satisfy most fighter fans. Much better than SNK heroines.

As an indie crossover fighting game, this game delivers in so many ways. While there is not a ton of characters to play as, the simple but fun gameplay will keep you coming back for more.

This is a great crossover fighter! Has some balancing issues, but considering it’s not going to be a big competitive title that’s more acceptable than it otherwise would be, and for first attempt it’s well done. Hoping for a sequel at some point.

A decent fighting genre game. The game has shovel knight and Isaac a nice perk. But, the graphics is subpar from other fighters in the market. The game is fun and enjoyable.

"Blade Strangers" is a 2D, one-on-one fighting game which features characters from Nicalis games. Notable inclusions are Solange from "Code Of Princess", Shovel Night, Isaac, and Quote/Curly from "Cave Story."
Simplistic compared to other 2D fighters, "Blade Strangers" ousts the traditional complicated special move commands in favor of single direction inputs plus a special attack button (think Smash Bros.). This is a good thing for the Switch, since the standard Joy-Cons are not fighting game friendly. Don't assume it's a complete cake walk, though...there are definitely combos that require creativity and finesse that'll give veterans of the genre a bit to chew on.
The standard array of modes are present (story, arcade, survival, online), but "Blade Strangers" falls short in the story and graphics department. The hand-drawn profile pics of the characters look great, but during play the animations are pixelated and appear as they were upscaled from a PS2 game.
With around 14 characters and a lower price tag, "Blade Strangers" is a respectable entry-level fighting game. While it can't compete with the likes of "Samurai Showdown", "KOF 14", or "Street Fighter 5", it makes for a decent casual fighter on the go.
NOTE: This launch edition comes with a manual and a keychain bonus. Very nice!

I will admit that I got this game to support the developer because it's AMAZING to look at. The animation, fluid movements and the characters are all amazing. The game play itself is alright, but honestly, I'm not a huge 2D fighter fan, so please take my thoughts with a grain of salt. If you can get into this game, do it. If you just want to watch the animation and be amazed at how gorgeous it looks, that's what I'm doing too.

A little more simple than I had hoped, but the Art alone is worth it. Makes it easy to play with people less familiar with games.

Whether you were a beginner or an experienced
with fighting games, this game has a little bit of everything for everybody! The move sets may be basic, but they are easy to pull off and definitely make an impact the more you play. This is a great game for those who find the controls difficult to wield another fighting games, such as street fighter or Mortal Kombat. If I had one complaint, it would be that the game is a bit short but definitely has a lot of replayability. Recommended!

This is basically an indie fighting game. This looks like it will be fun to play with friends who are fans of the indies represented here (cave story, binding of isaac, gunvolt....etc) but playing solo against the computer is a bit on the easy side. It is easy to cheese the moves and beat the computer (down + B, then repeat as they get up) so the value here is if you have a second person to play with you.

Smooth animation, good hitboxes though I don't recognize a lot of the characters so it's not as interesting as say DBFZ

Blade Strangers has a cast of its own characters thrown in with some characters from indie games which is a nice touch. Big characters and nice fighting makes this a good pickup.

This game was surprisingly really fun and easy to learn the mechanics. I’m hoping they add more characters in time because this game has a lot of potential.
