Customers are impressed with the Blueair Classic 605's ability to improve air quality and its ease of use. Many appreciate the filter's long lifespan and the multiple fan speeds, although some find the highest fan speed noisy and the unit large. The app functionality is a point of contention, with some users experiencing difficulties. Overall, the purifier's positive impact on air quality is a significant selling point.

Efficiently purifies poluted urban air

Very powerful fans circulate air in 3 different directions through 3 separate filters. Silent on low, whisper on medium, yet pretty loud on high, comparable to a small car idling. When running on the high setting you can truly get a feel of how strong this purifier is and its ability to quickly filter a room of smoke from the stovetop or urban air on days with poor air quality. Construction is all steel, making it strudy and adding to its overall longevity. The app is barebones, this is my only complaint, but I was aware of that before making the purchase.

Blueair air purifiers improve indoor air quality

Fresh air without odors, particulates of dust, allergens, bacteria and viruses, and more. That’s what is possible with Blueair Classic 605 Smart Console Wi-Fi connected air purifier for spaces up to 775 square feet. $830 at Best Buy.
**WHAT’S IN THE BOX**
• Blueair Classic 605
• Three installed identical filters
• Instruction manual and documentation
**THE SETUP**
Hypersensivity in all aspects of life due to the COVID-19 pandemic has consumers interested in improving indoor air quality scrubbing bacteria, viruses and other unhealthy contributing factors. According to a statement found on the Blueair Website in anticipation of this question, “Blueair purifiers are not tested against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).”
Highly rated and solidly built, Blueair purifiers are at the upper end of air purification products and enjoy an exemplary reputation for effectiveness and longevity.
Following the instructions in the manual, step one is plugging in the unit to a wall outlet (110 Volts in the US), opening the flip-up lid and pressing the airflow speed touch button. This causes the WI-FI symbol to blink, putting the air purifier in Bluetooth pairing mode.
Download the Blueair app. Check.
Having done these things before, I went online to the blueair.com website to create an account so the username and password could be copied and pasted into the mobile app.
NOTE – There is a flaw in the Blueair app at this time – February, 2021. The issue prevents users from copying any passwords and pasting into the password field in the app. Blueair support confirmed the issue with no indication of when an update would be released. In the meanwhile, and only temporarily, it is suggested to use a password with fewer characters than optimal and easy to enter one character at a time through the phone’s keyboard until this issue is resolved.
The app prompts to connect the device’s Wi-Fi to the phone. NOTE – as with most, not all, Wi-Fi connected appliances, this one operated on only the 2.4 GHz band, not the 5.0 GHz band when pairing the device to Wi-Fi. If your Wi-Fi setup offers both bands, be sure that for the setup only, the phone is on the 2.4 GHz band. After pairing and setup, be sure to switch the phone back to the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band. All of this assumes the user has both of these bands available in a modern, recent vintage Wi-Fi router. If issues are encountered, be sure to contact Blueair tech support for assistance through the support link on their Website.
After successful app pairing, it is now possible to control the Blueair Classic 605 through the app. These controls include ON/OFF and three air flow speed settings.
Beyond these app basics, a child lock setting is available that prevents operation by the on-board touch switch under the control panel lid. Name the device as the user chooses. Adjust the LED brightness along a sliding continuum. Choose to set a schedule with time on and off and a repeating schedule of the user’s design. Within the schedule, select LED brightness, after schedule instructions that can change the fan speed and further adjust LED brightness.
Finally, set their Zip code, which looks for the nearest weather reporting station that also has air quality measurement equipment. In most urban areas, these special weather stations provide air quality readings that serve as a guide to users and machines such as this so as to suggest the possible need for higher air flow speed during times of high pollution. There is no internal connection between that data and the settings on this Blueair. If there is high pollution reported, users can decide to increase the air flow speed, providing greater filtration.
Speaking of filters, this model is equipped with three filters already installed. As explained in the manual, these are HEPASilent™ “standard” particle filters. The manual also indicates these filters grab PM2.5 (PM or Particulate Matter refers to air pollutants with a diameter less than 2.5 micrometers, more than 10 times thinner than a human hair). In addition, dust, mold, bacteria and viruses, dust mites, and pet dander can be trapped within the three installed filters. This filter is called a particle filter, made from, “thermally bonded fibers containing polypropylene and polyethylene free of chemicals and binders. Fiber shedding resistant.”
Also offered is a “Carbon + Particle filter for greater filtration. Activated coconut shell carbon. Non-woven gradient Polypropylene fibers. Free of chemicals and binders. Fiber shedding resistance.”
Each Blueair Classic 605 is equipped with a time-of-use counter that measures the approximate number of hours the purifier has been powered on.
When the timer approximates about six months of 24/7 use, the touch panel filter indicator will turn orange indicating it is time to replace all three filters. The app will also generate a notification.
Blueair offers convenient, cost-effective genuine Blueair filters one triple-pack at a time or through a regular interval subscription. A set of three standard filters with free shipping is about $80. Three DualProtection filters are $150. DualProtection filters are denser requiring a higher speed fan setting to move the air as effectively as when standard filters are installed.
This air purifier is also said to be Alexa-compatible, but . . . this does not work! This, too, needs an app revision and update. I saw similar comments going back to 2018.
This Blueair purifier can be turned on and off and have speed adjustments made from smartphones wherever there is cellular service or available Wi-Fi.
Here is a specification worth noting – this air purifier specifies, “Completely filters air in 698 ft² room every 12 minutes.” Keep this in mind as we come back to it in the conclusion.
**PUT TO THE TEST**
Upon app launch, the fan speed was set to its lowest. Sound is barely perceptible. Decibel measurements were taken in the same position relative to the top of the unit.
• Fan off – 28db
• Lowest speed – 35db
• Medium speed – 46db
• Highest speed – 68db
The purifier was placed to evaluate effectiveness near a corner at the front of the family room area, a large and open space without walls leading to the kitchen with its included dining area, about 700 square feet.
Quick bursts were sprayed from a room deodorizer in the kitchen at the stove area, the farthest point from the air purifier, then at the threshold to the family room, about mid-distant between the stove and air purifier, and directly in the corner opposite the air purifier.
We sat sensing the pervasiveness of the scent and how quickly we perceived its dissipation with and without the air purifier being on.
We concluded that the Blueair purifier effectively reduced the strength and duration of the spray’s lingering scent.
**CONCLUSION**
In this anecdotal review, it appears that Blueair Classic 605 has performed as advertised during the three days devoted to this evaluation. I am impressed!
But wait, there’s more! Some consumers may look for other useful features and characteristics. Blueair has models with even more advanced capabilities. Blueair Classic Series 680i, $900 at Best Buy, is identical in appearance to the 605. The 680i adds automatic operation, taking into account particulates and airborne VOCs, and can adjust operation accordingly.
Other Blueair models available at Best Buy offer a more modern design profile as well as more advanced air circulation patterns. There are less expensive options also featuring automatic operation.
A newer HealthProtect line, including model 7770i, $840 at Best Buy has all the important boxes checked. Among them:
• Automatic operation with HEPASilent™ Ultra filter technology, removes a wide array of pollutants, including 99.97% of airborne particles like viruses, bacteria, and dust, then kills 99%³ of the germs caught in the filter (according to Blueair)
• Wi-Fi
• Advanced air flow output pattern
• On-board air quality sensor with GermShield™ technology proactively monitors and activates to kill germs and prevent growth on the filter
• Realtime air flow monitoring through RFID-embedded twin filters alerts users to replacement need based on failing performance resulting in less cost of operation
• Sensor can be cleaned with a burst of compressed dusting air, also available at Best Buy for as little as 2/$10.
• Quieter than Classic line:
• Noise specifications –
• Low speed – 33db
• High speed – 62db
• More
Who wouldn’t opt for state-of-the art performance? Clearly, some users, and that is the beauty of choice. Smaller, less expensive models designed for smaller spaces are also in the HealthProtect line, so be sure to explore all the Blueair options at Best Buy.
It is clear there are many product options available in the Blueair family to maintain their excellent reputation, quality and that meet most consumers’ desire for improved indoor air quality.
In conclusion, Blueair air purifiers appear to do as advertised and offer the likelihood for long-term high levels of consumer satisfaction.
**WARRANTY**
Blueair Classic 605 Smart Console Air Purifier comes with the manufacturer’s one-year parts and labor warranty. Online registration extends the product warranty to five years.

Blueair hit a home run with this purifier!

The Blueair - Classic 605 Smart Console 775 Sq is a true and legit air purifier with a lot of bells and whistles you didn’t even know you needed.
I have had over 4 air filters and purifiers over the past 7 years, some of them with UV technology to sanitize and destroy odors. They ranged in price but none of them gave me the piece of mind in getting rid of stale air smell, pet odors/ dander and cooking smells and the occasional cigar in my well ventilated home office during winter cold days.
Packaging: the packaging is very good as the item came in an outer shipping box, and inside it is the color box that contains the purifier and that was firmly fixed in place by a 2 Styrofoam side boards and a plastic bag. when i took it out of the box it was flawless.
Rating and features:
you need to know that this air purifier is rated for rooms or spaces up to 775 sqf, which happens to be a little bigger than the room I intended to use it in. with that being said, the purifier is massive in size and it cant be hidden, but the design is very nice and blends in with any type of furniture color scheme you may have in any room.
this purifier is provided with 3 Hepa Silent filters that were already installed, removing them and replacing them is very easy as you just need to pull and replace.
those HEPA filters remove dust, mold, bacteria/ viruses, pollen, dust mites, pet dander. there is also a carbon based filter that in addition to the above, can remove VOC, smoke, cooking odors, and chemicals.
the 3 filters included are identical, meaning when you want to replace them you can order the same filter from Blueair and you will get a package with 3 filters. a subscription is also available with a great 15% off the price of the filters when you subscribe.
the purifier came in a nice white color and on 4 wheels, ready to use out of the box.
there is a plastic lid you can pull out on the top of the purifier that has 3 LED buttons/ indicators: one for wifi connectivity, one for fan speed ( up to 3 speeds), and the final one would tell you the status of the filter.
The filters are to be replaced every 6 months if and only if you are using the purifier 24/7.
Blueair app: the app is great for many reasons and its available on the app store and in Google play. Once you install the app it will ask you to connect your device and you can follow the steps and connect your purifier within 5 minutes.
Once the purifier is connected to the app you can turn the purifier on and off, choose the fan speed, schedule operating times with multiple schedules, buy replacement filters and/ or subscribe to a filter replacement subscription (I advise you only subscribe after you figure out the purifier hourly work routine). Check the outside air quality thanks to the plug in that shows on the app home screen, integrate your purifier with Alexa or Google assistant (if the purifier supports this feature).
Usage: the purifier has been great and I found that the best setup for my use is the second or middle speed, it doesn’t surpass 44 dba while the highest speed goes up to 62 dba which is quite loud. And here is where the app comes in handy as you can set up a routine and have it work at the maximum speed while you are not in that specific room/ or away from home and you will come back to a fresh smell. It also comes in handy if you want to quickly kill some odors like cooking, frying odors, or get it in an area where you have cat litter or where your dog sleeps incase someone is coming over.
The best selling point for us getting this purifier is that we do have relative who has allergies to cats and most pets and this purifier enabled us to invite him safely to our home and they being able to stay for hours without any allergic reactions of discomfort.
Blueair hit a home run with this purifier and I am extremely satisfied with this product.

Clean Air The Nose Knows!

The Blueair Classic 605 Air purifier is a great unit with good looks and great function. The Air filter is quiet on low and medium settings and only a little loud on high. You will normally use this unit on the medium setting unless you are trying to clear out some pollutant or odor. Use the low setting to allow some filtering with nearly silent operation.
The almond shape with cut off ends is good looking and the white color with black accents give it a very clean look.
The filter replacement is a snap, no complicated disassembly just lift off the top grate remove the 3 filters and replace. The unit accepts two types of filters, a HEPA only filter and a Dual Carbon/HEPA filter. I opted for the second. The DualProtection is about twice as much as a Standard Particle filter for a 3 filter pack. You can save more by buying a filter subscription from Blueair. If you get a filter subscription you currently also extend your warranty to for as long as you continue it. Recommended replacement schedule is every 6 months, this can vary based on your environment
Basic control can be done from the buttons on the top of the filter itself. For advanced control you must use the Blueair IOS or Android App. With the App you can set Schedules, control the Led brightness and control the fan speed. The app also gives you the outdoor air quality in your area. If you have a Blueair Aware indoor monitor you can link that to the app to monitor your indoor quality as well. I was unable to get my unit paired to the Android app but the IOS app paired the app without difficulty. I have a VPN on my Android phone and do not want to disable this as well as mesh networking that forces the phone to the 5ghz connection. The Blueair app requires no VPN active and a 2.4ghz network to connect like most IOT devices. I had to set up a second router to connect the device. This is a problem with many IOT and Mesh systems and I brought it to the attention of Blueair as well as the Mesh networking developers, they were both very responsive and are working on this. I have no doubt a solution will be found. Regular routers allow the 5ghz and 2.4 ghz bands to have different SSID’s, most Mesh routers do not. Some mesh routers have a troubleshooting mode that disables the 5ghz for just this purpose. Regardless of this after the air filter was paired with my "network" it has worked flawlessly. I can monitor and control it from anywhere.
Standard warranty is 1 year, Blueair gives you an extended 5 year warranty if you register your air purifier on the web or through the mobile app.
How does it work??? In a word my nose says great! I was allergic to my office sneezing and runny nose as soon as I walked in! The allergies have stopped since the Blueair has been running. In addition the air is being filtered for odors and particulates including Virus and bacteria. Blueair claims "all Blueair purifiers feature HEPASilent™ filtration technology to efficiently remove 99.97% of airborne virus and bacteria particles." I feel this has made my office space safer for me and my employees.
I really like the Blueair Classic 605 filter, it is quiet, filters are not too expensive and has scheduling. It is great for business or home use. Blueair has put it into a very attractive package. HEPA Air filters are really good for allergy sufferers and will protect you and your family from airborne viruses reducing risk of infections.

Air Cleaning Marvel

I have had the Blueair Classic 605 Air Purifier for about a week now. I have a twenty-seven hundred square foot pier and beam house that was built in 1922. As with most pier and beam houses you sometimes get an odor from the crawl space under the house, plus you have the odors from pets, kids, and cooking. Before we received the Blueair Classic we always had candles burning trying to keep the odors down. The Blueair classic is rated for around 775 sq ft., but we placed it in the Den close to the A/C return air vent and we noticed it picks up a lot of the smells throughout the house. The device itself is pretty large machine, but you can stick it behind a chair or couch and as long as the intakes are clear it will do a great job purifying the air. There are three filters that are needed for the machine, all three are the same, so replacing them will be easy. The filter is a particle filter, the structure and the fibers of the filter trap the smallest particles and help to deter the growth of bacteria and mold. The filter is also less dense than a normal filter thanks to their HEPASilent filtration technology, which means they require less air pressure to do the job. They recommend changing the filters every six months if you use the filters continuously, I have mine on a schedule of about 8 hours a day, so hopefully they will last longer. In the app there is a filter monitor to let you know when it is getting close to the end of life.
Initial set-up was pretty easy after getting it connected to the Wi-Fi. You do not have to use Wi-Fi or the app to use the device, but the app has a lot of features that are beneficial. With the app it can be used to set schedules, change the speed, check life of the filter and to check the air quality. The app shows air quality readings for the following information:
PM2.5 refers to particles that have a diameter less than 2.5 microns.
PM10 refers to particles that have a diameter less than 10 microns, inhalable into the lungs and can induce adverse health effects.
CO is carbon Monoxide, which is a colorless and odorless gas, that is undetectable and will easily kill you.
SO2 is sulfur dioxide, which is a gaseous air pollutant which is formed when sulfur containing fuels are burned, such as coal, oil, or diesel.
They use color codes from green to red to show your air quality levels.
There are two minor items that are a negative to me. First one is the control panel cover does not open all the way, it almost feels like it is stuck, but it only opens about halfway up. The other thing is the price of the filters, at $80 for the three that come with it or $150.00 for the upgraded dual protection ones, can add up over time, but if they do last for 6 months or more, it might not be that bad of an investment. It does come with a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

I would give it 5 stars if not for the Blueair App, but more on that later.
Out of the box, the unit is extremely simple to set up. Although it’s just over 30 lbs, it’s on rollers, so it’s very easy to maneuver. You can download the App or just plug it in & set the fan speed (3 options: low, medium & high).
We do a lot of cooking & find lingering food smells undesirable. We also live in a high humidity area, so mold can be a big problem. So far, the App has shown my air quality as “Excellent” every time I’ve checked it (even after cooking something as strong as bacon).
POSITIVES:
- Easy setup & operation
- Able to operate unit without the App
- Rollers/wheels for portability
- Strong metal frame which feels sturdy & built to last
- Low fan setting is very quiet and almost unnoticeable
NEGATIVES:
- Mediocre App
I downloaded the Blueair App & was eventually able to connect it with the unit. It didn’t want to connect with 5GHz, so be sure you have access to a 2.4GHz connection. You also need to register/create an account. My older family members who aren’t very tech savvy wouldn’t have been able to figure out how to connect it, so it definitely needs some work.
The App is pretty basic. It allows you to change the fan speed, view your current indoor air quality & adjust the LED brightness. It will also integrate with Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant. You can set a schedule & view a map of the current outdoor air quality as well.
Overall, the unit itself gets 5 stars, but the prominently featured App is weak. With Spring and allergies on the way, we’re looking forward to breathing better!

The Blueair Classic 605 Smart Console has worked wonders for our house! It was easy getting out of the box and packing and had it set up in seconds. However, I do feel the app can be better and feels lacking after downloading it on my phone. I live in an old house so it tends to smell old but since running the Blueair unit the house doesn't have that odor anymore! I also noticed a cut down on dust. Just these little signs alone let me the Blueair System really works. I was also excited to learn the filters can last for 6 months or even longer depending on how you run the unit. So far I can't be more pleased and I recommend this to anybody who wants clean breathable air!!

Well Designed, Extremely Efficient Air Purifier

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Blueair Classic Model 605 is a powerful air filter that very efficiently cleans and purifies the air quickly in a 698 to 705 square foot room. Designed to filter a room of this square footage 5X an hour or every 12 minutes, this is definitely the best (or a close equal to one other) that I have owned and used on a daily basis, and I have had many air purifiers since I was a small child. Its simple design and lightweight construction complemented with solid easy-roll casters allow for it to easily be moved within a large area or from area to area. It is designed with both particle filters and carbon-based filters. Between the two types of HEPASilent filters the purifier removes dust, mold, bacteria and viruses, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, smoke, cooking odors and chemical smells. It comes equipped with the particle filter; and if needed, the other is available for purchase.
Controls are more than adequate, yet very simple. Customization can be done through the Wi-Fi enabled app, i.e., speed control and setting the on/off timer. The app even indicates the outdoor air quality and alerts when it is time to replace the filter. The app can be controlled on a mobile device or set up to work through Amazon Alexa or Google Devices.
The unit is rather large, but its sleek design and dynamic function offsets this completely for me. It is 26” H x 20” W x 13” D and weighs 35 lbs. It consumes 15-100 watts of energy, intakes air from the bottom and sides and returns it through the top and sides. It is very quiet on the lowest of three settings (33 decibels), but fairly loud on the highest setting which measured at 62 decibels.
Normal warranty for this product is 1-year, but this can be extended to a five (5) year warranty just by completing the Product Registration form in the ‘My Units” section of your customer account within 60 days of purchase. This can even be done on the mobile app. For the warranty to be enforceable, blueair filters must be used in the product. Blueair recommends these be changed every 6 months and even offers a discounted subscription program to help you stay on track with the purifier’s maintenance and achieve the maximum potential of the unit.
I highly recommend this purifier. My sister purchased one for my parents a few years ago and I saw then the visible benefits of the product’s functionality. To back up my own experience, I rely heavily on Consumer Reports and the independent testing that they do on consumer products. This manufacturer and this model are both recommended by Consumer Reports as an exceptional buy. With the pollen of spring fortunately on its way, I am certainly very happy to own and to be using one.

Absolutely love this item! Seems to have made an immediate difference in our air quality! Machine is a bit large but we were able to find a place in our home for this to "fit in." Very quiet, as we can barely hear it run! We have pets (dogs) and I have allergies, so this was a must! Filters are a bit pricey but understand they need replacement once every 6 months which is not bad. All in all, very please with this purchase!

Purifier does a good job of cleaning air, however, it is very loud especially on high and even medium is a little loud. Have only had it for 2-3 weeks. It is big so you need a place to put it. It has three filters which I guess I didn't realize which could become costly if needed to replace frequently, purchased on sale which I thought was a good price,

Great product! I have two dogs and the purifier does clean the air. For the price, the power of this unit is amazing.

I purchased this purifier and can tell a huge difference! Prior to using it, both of my children struggled with stopped up noses constantly due to cat allergies but didn’t want to give up their cats. I honestly made this purchase out of desperation but was pleasantly surprised that it actually worked! I cannot say that their allergies are completely gone BUT between the purifier and their normal medications, they can now breathe and we were able to keep the cats!

This air purifier seems to work well and is fairly quiet except on it's highest setting. The biggest problem I have is that I cannot connect the air purifier to its much tooted app, Blueair Friend, that would allow me to operate the machine via my phone.
