Its great at first, it does EVERYTHING you can imagine or want. Unfortunately, it has a known issue that it LOSES your notes and the screen says "RENDERING NOTES".
Major disappointment.

Brand response from Product Expert

There is a new Firmware update 3.2 being launched for current and previous devices. In the meantime, the device can be simply re-booted, the notes will remain in the device and will fix the current issue.

This is a great product if you’re looking for a tablet that is better for your eyes, and less stimulating then the full color tablets. The writing experience is the closest to paper as I’ve ever experienced! Overpriced tho.

Easy to use and great for reading. Great for PDF reading and annotation and perfect for large PDF files, ebooks and for students who want to read long periods without eyestrain.

Boox is a nice product but I decided to go with the SuperNote. Boox was too much like a tablet and I wanted more of note taking device.

Note Taking and Reading on a Big Screen

Amazon isn't too worried, but this is somewhat of a competitor. I've owned nearly every model of theirs since 2009 to the 32GB Paperwhite. It is sad they lack innovation and that's why I bought the Boox Note3 and the Boox case that custum fits the device (not adhesive). Hardware is flawless. Quality build with the latest components. It's a mixed bag on the software side. Why? documentation is poor as the manual is difficult to follow in terms of logic and chronological order. This difficulty was overcome with YouTube and Reddit posters. Boox has a strong following among techies. Also, the parent company Onyx has been around awhile and their older devices have held up well.
Who should buy? If you want a big screen, this is your device. If you want to remain with the traditional Amazon Kindle...it runs great, but page turns are slower than Boox's software native reader.
Not a techie? You might expect this device would have more manufacturer support and it simply is not here. If you can roll up your sleeves and learn from outside sources it might work for you. They do have a support arm in the US, but it's in developmental mode. Although it has Android version 10, it follows the Kindle software model. Android is under the skin of the interface.
I am still in developmental mode myself after several days with the device: note taking and such. I do love their native "Neo reader." So far, things are working well. I'm sure that Boox will improve software and documentation moving forward. If you are expecting a benign Kindle or iPad experience of up and running on day 1, it's not going to happen if you are new to the Boox platform tho. The reward is great tho if you are not in a hurry. Mastering the device will emerge in time.
