This shooter has been labeled as an "RPG Shooter" by most gamer magazines. It does have elements of an RPG such as inventory, upgrading, leveling up, etc. but it's mainly a "smart shooter". Within a few minutes of playing the game for the first time, you realize how addicting it gets. You literally have tons and tons of stuff you can find and there are so many different types of guns, shields and skills while you have 4 different characters to choose from on top of all that. The fun just doesn't stop. If I had any gripe, it would be some of the bosses in this game. Not much skill needed other than to empty out your clips and occasionally hide for cover. But overall, the experience with this game is most excellent! Definitely worth buying!

Since I heard how great the co-op part of this game is, I decided to not buy it until I knew someone that already had it (in order to experience the co-op). I finally got sick of waiting and strong- armed a buddy into buying it the same day as I did. You will not be disappointed however, if you are going it alone- it is still fun and there is a match making lobby. We have spent hours upon hours playing this highly addictive game and can't wait to play more. Everything about this game is great. The AI could be a little stronger for a more realistic play I guess. The graphics, environments and sound all have a hand in making this game a ton of fun. I highly recommend the game!!!

A first person shooter set in a SF atmosphere. The crew of the Serinity would find themselves at home in Borderlands. Graphics are pretty good and the story line easy to follow. You don't find yourself finishing a segment of the game and then wondering which direction you need to go.

I was excited for this game to come out because of the uniqueness of the graphics and the much touted customization features and the rumored 1,000,000 gun combinations. (I'm level ten so far and haven't figured out what that's all about. I've been able to customize nothing!) Unfortunately the game play stinks. The weapons thus far are junk. I have a rifle that holds 4 rounds??? does an amazing amount of damage yet doesn't pierce the bad guys skin? What? And the reload times are absurd. my assault rifle holds 36 bullets...I empty the bullets into a bad guy and barely dent his armor...then have to spend the next 20 seconds reloading the magazine while he flits around never missing me with his pistol? Really? The amount of ammo you can hold is so ridiculously small....and to use a medkit you have to change screens and actually click a button to use it...all the while in real time. Yes! they still shoot at you while you are trying to dodge fire, switch screens and push a button to use a medkit. That just plain stinks. While the graphics are very cool in a cartoonish sort of way, the game play is cartoonish in a very bad way. The reviews I've read about this game were mostly posted before the thing even hit store shelves. adding insult to injury, there doesn't appear to be a difficulty selection setting to tone down the bad guys beefiness....One difficulty fits all I guess. The game play is ponderous and repetitive, you are only permitted to hold a tiny fraction of the ammo you need to take out any of the more dangerous bad guys...and the guns presented do a miniscule amount of damage to everyone. Its really absurd. I hit one bad guy repeatedly doing "critical" hits to his head with a sniper rifle and it still took NINE of them to bring him down. The game is frustratingly bad in terms of game play and anyone who is a fan of shooters may feel the same way about this one as I do. RPG fans will be bored - character customization is almost non existent. You can change the paint color on your armor. That's it. Really? Are you kidding me? So long story short, fans of Halo, COD and any of the better shooters might do well to rent this one before buying it. :-)

this game is amazing. i have all the downloadable content and im on my second playthrough, yet im not even close to bieng bored of this game. the graphics are different which gives the game its own unique feeling and there is a huge world that you can wander around in and explore.

Borderlands was such a great game in so many ways. Ive always loved FPS and RPG's, but when you mix the two of them you get what is Borderlands. You go through the world of Pandora Looking to find the Vault, and you have such a huge variety of Guns and classes and it mix's so well. It has a lot of replay ability to it. The game gets even greater when you go online and play through it with some friends. I want to see more from this game and from 2k and gearbox.

If you like loot based games and non-linear gameplay with loads of quests, this game is for you! This game combines the better parts of FPS style games and mixes in a (simple) level and loot based system. If at all possible, play this game with at least one other person. The more people you have the more fun this game is. I would not necessarily recommend this game to anyone intending to play through as a solo experience. Great game! Give it a try.

I liked the graphics in this game. Pandora was huge, you could drive or teleport from place to place. The creatures on Pandora were interesting. Best of all i liked the controls, they were easy. I had some trouble remembering where to turn in to receive my rewards. I have'nt played multiplayer online just yet so i can't review that. Overall, i like this game and would purchase Borderlands 2. Maybe the campaign will be better.

I can play this game for hours on end, it is very much the best elements of video games brought together by some stroke of genious by some man/woman who i will love forever!

First game I've played in awhile that actually had enough programming to make it last in game play. Lots of chances to earn money through challenges and bounties and get awesome gun and skill upgrades. Most annoying part is many tasks are distances apart and if you have to walk, it takes a long time.

I have played a number of gearbox games and liked them all. This one is probably the most entertaining with the graphics and animations. I finished it in about 4 days, without rushing through it. I liked it so much I am playing it again at the next harder level. ;)

This is a great game. I love playing this game with friends online. If you're stuck at a part, you can just have your friends join your game and help you. If you like single player, this is a must-have.

Game is very addictive, i am not a everyday gamer so this game is really really fun for me, co-op is even more exciting. My brother plays it to and he is a xbox guru and enjoys it.So i would recommend this game for everyone. Not even close to boring or slow.

This game is fun, colorful and great. Also it can be annoying sometimes when you beat the mission you will have to sometimes refight the people you already killed, kind of makes no sense. But besides that I really like this game.

What more can a person want, Tons of weapons, tons of things to kill, and you get to earn cash and drive vehicles!!!!! I love this game it is for sure one to have if you like killing stuff and gettin' paid!!!!!!

This is a great game that blends the first person shooter style and adds in some role-playing elements like leveling up, gaining abilities and such. Game has a great look to it and is like nothing else on the market which gives it a fresh feeling. Has 4 player online co-op and split screen co-op. Game has unlimited amount of gun combination's which also adds to the refreshing new feel to the game. the one problem I have is that the enemies in the game re-spawn which means that after you kill them and go back to that location again there back. This really takes away from the experiences and feel that you get immersed in. Overall a great experience and I'm only 15 hrs in!!!

in borderlands you play as one of four customizable characters exploring the planet of Pandora, which is very fallout 3 like, a wasteland basically filled with freaks, mutants, and bandits. there are tons of quests, and most importantly tons and tons of guns. the graphics look like they are from a comic book or graphic novel, the only bad thing is, for example, when you shoot something like a bottle on a table or something nothing happens. this near perfect game has a high replay value and is loads of fun, highly recommended!

This is an awesome gamw if you are a fan of Fallout and Diablo. It is fun and the weapon selection is bad@$$. The minute yo start playing you do not want to put the controller down. As soon as you want to quit, you gain new weapons and want to try them out. Sniper rifles are fun but gotta watch monsters...they are quick when they see you. Have submachine gun ready for those quick action sequences. Vehicle chases are fun and better with two...one in turret and one driving. I am olny level 11 and in second area only with so much more to explore. Worth everything until later games like Assassins Creed 2 or Modern Warfare 2 comes out.

Great game and i love the customability. but you will be obsessivley checking weapons for minute abilites trying to balance you arsenal it will make you crazy

Borderlands has it all!!!! Action, Fun and Co-Op. But there is one down side once you drop one of your guns you may never see it again
