I haven't had much of a chance to play, but so far, it's Borderlands like you would expect. My biggest worry about this project, considering that it wasn't being done primarily by Gearbox, was that the comedy and writing would drop off a bit. If anything, I think that's the shining gem of this game, so for those who have enjoyed Borderlands' previous snarky, and self-deprecating tone, you will be greatly amused.
The game itself is just as solid as previous titles, but maybe missing a certain new flare one might expect from a third entry into a well-developed franchise. I had also been a little worried that too much would be changed from previous titles, but the graphics, the mechanics and overall gameplay feel like fans would expect. I suppose that might actually be part of the problem.
Somehow, it feels like not ENOUGH has changed. While the overall meat of the game was identical from BL1 to BL2, there were enough tweaks that it felt like it had earned its place as a new, stand-alone addition to the franchise. So far, this Borderlands feels like an expansion, or extended DLC pack meant to be tacked onto the framework of BL2. To some people, a full-title price might feel like overspending for this (again, so far) underwhelming title.
Of course, all that is getting a little too nit-picky for a Borderlands title at all. It's what comes from digging into the nooks and crannies of the different aspects. If you're familiar with Borderlands at all, then you know it's not the type of game that seems like it is setting out to win any awards (not that it couldn't), but it's not the sort of highly stylized disappointment that Destiny ended up being.
What the Pre-Sequel really comes down to is whether or not you're already a fan. If you are, then you are likely chomping at the bit for anything that will satisfy your BL fix and this is basically a no-brainer purchase. Even if it doesn't quite feel like a fully fleshed-out title, you will enjoy it and you will feel like you are happy with buying it.
By the same token, if you have played even one previous BL title and aren't already hooked, then this game likely isn't going be the one to do it. Its "more-of-the-same" kind of presentation won't suck you in.
If you aren't already a fan, but haven't really had any previous experience with the BL franchise, there might not be enough here in the way of introductory offerings to be worth a purchase. I would recommend getting yourself a now-discounted version of the Borderlands: Game of the Year edition. For probably around $20, you can play through the original, and see what you think. If that grabs you, then you should DEFINITELY pick up BL2 and this one shortly thereafter.
In the end, if you like crazy, off-the-wall concepts mixed with pretty solid FPS gameplay and character customization, as well as gathering a BUTTLOAD of loot, then this game is for you.
Stop reading and pick it up!!!

Borderlands the pre- sequel is a great RPG game. Its not as big as borderlands 2 but has new gameplay. Such as anti gravity, new weapon types, and new characters. The story is pretty good. I think people should try borderlands the pre sequal.

It feels like it's predecessors but it's a good thing. The game still plays great even though the formula has been around for quite some time. The story starts out as a telling of the events leading up to Borderlands 2. The game feels a little more accessible as the ability upgrades are much more forgiving if you didn't ration your points strategically. The difficulty is bumped up a little more from the previous games. It is a multiplayer game and it is emphasized, and even so, the difficulty scales up and becomes more difficult with your full group of like leveled team members. It's never quite a walk in the park. The loot drops in my experience was a little slower than the past two games. Still a great formula, and if you enjoyed the past games, you will still enjoy this return into the franchise.

This is a solid FPS/RPG. It is very similar to the other games in the series in terms of gameplay mechanics. If you enjoyed Borderlands 1 & 2, you will most likely enjoy this one as well. If you didn't, there won't be anything here to change your mind. The biggest change to the gameplay is the fact that a large portion of the action occurs in zero-gravity environments. This allows you to jump higher and glide through the air, but it also means that you have a limited oxygen capacity. The basic gameplay structure is the standard Borderlands formula of shoot, loot, and repeat. The mission variety is pretty decent, but most missions boil down to "go here, kill stuff, retrieve something, and come back." The story is entertaining, as you see how Handsome Jack becomes the villainous fiend we all know and love/hate from Borderlands 2. The new characters and classes are a welcome addition. I played as Nisha the Lawbringer, which was fun. This game is a solid addition to the Borderlands franchise, and it has plenty of content to keep you busy for hours on end.

This game is a great to play and it's even better with friends. It contains a lot of humor just like the other Borderlands games. Even though the story is a little shorter than the others, it is just as satisfying. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed Borderlands 1 and 2.

After only two hours of playing this game, I had a deeper understanding of the characters and story than I did after playing Destiny for thirty hours. While the engine for the game is familiar, the new characters classes and environmental challenges (i.e. jumping) make this game a different enough experience from B2 to keep me engaged. Definitely helping me forget the disappointment that is Destiny.
The Borderlands trilogy is a triumph of function over form; it is pretty enough, but the gameplay, versatility, and diversity of weapons is amazing, Destiny is a pretty shell with nothing inside. It is the video game equivalent of a formulaic, big budget Hollywood film.

I purchased Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel after having played Borderlands 2. The graphics and game-play are solid and the story is interesting. It supports offline 2 player CO-OP through the campaign which is what I was interested in. Overall, it is an entertaining sci-fi game.

My son loves this title. I have played it twice and really enjoy it so far. If you play, be sure to lay at least one of the previous games. Story is good as long as you enjoy brutal reality. Have enjoyed so far

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my teenage son and he says it's a lot of fun. My only criticism is the price -- $60 for a previous-generation game. I bought it on sale, though, so I'm satisfied.

I love this game! Its so much fun. The characters are unique and fighting styles are all new from the previous borderlands without sacrificing any of the great Borderland's game play! The atmospheres are pleasing to the eye as it takes place in multiple atmospheres and planets, the moon walking and flying vehicles adds a whole new dimention to the already versatile 3D open landscape. I don't wanna spoil anything but if you are an RPG or FPS fan, this is a must play!

This version of Borderlands has it minor flaws, but it is a worthy game in the series. There are some weird things to have to deal with (constant need for oxygen early on) but that shouldn't make you want to stay away. There is still the Borderlands game-play experience. There are some frustratingly difficult bosses and areas if you are quite prepared for them, so you will end up farming a little to get the necessary experience and/or gun types to help you through some tight spots. I've played this game primarily single-player so that's where I've run into some issues. I imagine that running through in co-op would alleviate some of the weird difficulty spikes. The same held true for Borderlands 2. Enjoy the game. Play it. You want be disappointed as it is still more fun that a lot of games out there.

If you liked or loved the previous borderlands games then you'll probably feel the same about this. It really just feels like a big DLC pack for the previous games which isn't necessarily a bad thing mind you. Bosses and story are as creative as ever. Australian accents are a nice change, oxygen nonsense is neither a negative or a positive, it's just there.

My son loves this series. My only complaint is that they waited to release it for Xbox one. I would have bought the special edition with all games from the series if it was available. But, it is a great game. He plays it all the time. Got it for xmas and he's still playing now, 3 months later.

This isanother borderlands game. While the wonky gravity and a few other nuances vary things slightly, this is a Borderlands game at its core. There is a more than satisfying amount of loot to be had, and some of the new character abilities introduced are serious fun. Still, the gameplay does get old this many iterations in.

I have been a fan of the series since the first one came out in 2009. It is a fantastic first person shooter that will have you grinding for hours trying to find that rare loot. It is fun solo but even more fun with a friend or 3. I don't want to get into the story because there are some great surprises that shouldn't be spoiled. If you enjoyed Borderlands 2 you will enjoy this one as well. There is also a season pass of DLC available for $29.99. If it is anything like the DLCs in the series it is a must buy. Personally I am bummed this isn't available for the Xbox One but either way I am happy there is a new installment in the series

This game is a good addition to the Borderlands franchise. If you liked the action and gun play from the first two, you will like this one. I didn't give it five stars because it seems a little watered down in comparison to Borderlands 2, not a step backward just not a step forward.

Bought this for my brother; he has enjoyed the series and seems to have enjoyed this game.
Only downside is there will likely be a "Game of the Year" edition (maybe not on Xbox 360 or PS3) that has all the DLC they eventually put out.
Still, buying this cheap makes it worth it.

The third installment of the Borderlands franchise improves on it's predecessors. The controls are very responsive and the game play is smooth. The first Borderlands game could lag in large fire fight battles. The game is played best in cooperative mode in my opinion to share in all the main and side quests on Pandora's moon. The comedy is still there that made the previous games memorable. And with that said you can now play as the wise cracking Clap-Trap robot! Although not on the newer generation of consoles the game still holds up with it's gameplay and story.
