    Quietest dishwasher on the market

The Bosch SHP9PCM5N Benchmark dishwasher is by far the quietest dishwasher on the market. When I set a decibel meter 3' away from it, it actually stayed around 38 - 39 dbA. It does not get above a hushed tone every in its cycles. I recently tried out a Cafe dishwasher that was rated at 39 dbA and it regularly registered at 42 dbA and had numerous 1 minute long spikes of 46 dbA (at 3 feet away). Apparently GE (Cafe) does not measure their dishwashers with the same standards as Bosch. So, I returned the Cafe model and bought this Bosch model. The only regret I have is that the racks in this Bosch model are not nearly as nice as those in the Cafe model. I would recommend to Bosch that they stop trying to save money and increase profits by putting cheap racks in otherwise excellent (and expensive) dishwashers. Out of all the dishwashers that my wife and I looked at in Best Buy (in the $1000 and up price range), the Bosch ones had the lowest quality racks. In the end, I decided that I could live with the lower quality racks and that the silent operation and excellent reputation for quality were more important.

The Bosch Benchmark is remarkable in every way. When running and doing its magnificent job of cleaning AND drying the dishes and cookware, it’s almost inaudible. An incredible machine and worth every penny.

If you use delay start — ever — do not buy!

I was shocked and disappointed by a major oversight in this otherwise high-end Bosch Benchmark model: there is no way to set a delay start directly on the machine. Let me be crystal clear for anyone considering this appliance: If you use delay start — ever — do not buy this dishwasher. Unlike earlier Bosch models that allowed you to simply press a button to start a wash in 2, 4, or 6 hours, this unit requires you to physically press Remote Start on the machine, then open your phone, launch the Home Connect app, and manually initiate a “Smart Start” with a vague “best time” window. That is the only way to delay a wash — and there’s no option to set a specific time or duration like “start in 3 hours.” I’m addressing this directly to VP of Product Management for Bosch dishwashers: Removing physical delay start from a premium appliance is a tone-deaf decision. You're asking users to take a multi-step process involving a smartphone, an app login, and a network connection — just to delay a load of dishes. This is not progress. This is over-automation at the cost of convenience, and it punishes users who don't always have their phones handy — or who simply want a basic feature that’s been standard for decades. Your product management team should be embarrassed. The dishwasher itself is quiet and cleans well, but this fundamental usability flaw is a deal-breaker for me and many others. Our electricity is cheap at night and the feature is important to me. Had I known this in advance, I would not have purchased it.

A very good appliance to have in one's kitchen. Of course, it has to be a Bosch. One can barely hear this model dish washer operating. The dishes, pans, glasses silverware etc are cleaned so well that they look brand new!! Never have to go back to touch up a missed smudge as when doing it by hand. Ease of use has been well designed. Many options for cleaning is available. Just set the controls once and reuse them at will. 'Soft touch' to select the options, no need to press using any pressure. It's just a matter of loading the dirty dishes, adding the cleaners, turning on the power, closing the door and letting Bosch do the cleaning.

Very quiet just like we wanted. Can barely tell it is on when we're in the kitchen. Cleans very well. Gets cheese off cooking dishes as long as it isn't baked on to a crisp. The app lets you fine tune the settings but we rarely use it. We usually select from the few direct control options and let it go.

It's been great having a dishwasher, especially the one we bought, Bosch Benchmark 800 series. I did a lot of reading into many different dishwashers. My granddaughter uses it the most and is very happy with it. It's very quiet and you can even use your phone to operate it, if you wanted to. The three racks are great. Since she cooks a lot and uses all sizes of utensils, it is perfect for those large and extra large items to fit. A big thumbs up for such a terrific dishwasher. It doesn't have a heating element, but instead it uses very hot hot water at the end and the dishes dry easily from that process. Some things need a quick wipe off of water droplets, but things dry nicely.

Our previous dishwasher (a GE) started burning up motherboards at only 4 years old, and after the 2nd board in less than 1 month went dead, I decided it was time to dig deep into savings and buy this gem. I live off a well, and the hard water is tough to deal with. So I wanted this model that has the water conditioner built in, as well as the other great features that makes it their Benchmark series. It has NOT disappointed! I have pre-washed my dishes my whole adult life, and it is crazy stressful to load dishes with food remains, sauces, etc. to dry for 2-3 days and then wait on pins & needles to see the results. Yet every load has produced perfectly clean and shiny dishes, flatware, bowls, and utensils. Not a hint of an issue, dry plastics, and no spots! Built well, very solid and beautiful. I really love this dishwasher!!

Best dishwasher I have ever had! Glasses are crystal clear and dry. The rest of the dishes, no matter how dried on the food is come out sparkling. Love the 3rd rack and the light inside. Even has a dispenser for salt if you have hard water. And QUIET!

We bought the Bosch Benchmark to replace an 8 year old dishwasher from another brand that was no longer cleaning well. So far we love it. Dishes come out spotless and dry. This has three racks. Putting the utensils in the top rack takes a little getting used to, but no big deal. I would definitely buy this again and I have recommended it to my friends.

This is easily one of the best dishwashers I have ever used. It is incredibly quiet, to the point where you can barely tell it is running, and impressively smart. The companion app lets you start or monitor wash cycles from your phone, customize settings, and even target specific cleaning zones for extra attention. It is also well-designed for homes with hard water, thanks to the built-in salt container that helps prevent mineral buildup; just top it off occasionally, and it keeps performing flawlessly. Overall, the Bosch Benchmark Series combines top-tier cleaning performance, whisper-quiet operation, and smart convenience in a sleek, modern design. Highly recommended if you want premium quality and long-term reliability.

This dishwasher is a bit over the top but we needed one to replace one that went bad and it was available a few days early… The upside - does the best job I think I have ever had for a dishwasher. Dishes are much cleaner than my old LG dishwasher. App is super easy to use and it allows you to customize your dish washing cycle down to what you have and where in the dishwasher. It is super quiet. I ended up installing myself and the instructions were very straight forward and it included the right parts for a variety of installation conditions. The only downsides are I haven’t figured out how to do the delayed start without the app and it is a bit pricey.

I just had it installed and haven’t used. I bought this on a Labor Day sale with an open box sale from Best Buy. It saved me $600. The Benchmark is more technology than I need but we have extremely hard water and the Benchmark is the only series model that has a built in water softener receptacle. If the 800 series had it, I would have bought that. Or even the highly rated 300 series. I don’t know why Bosch doesn’t have a model with a water softener receptacle for the series 300, 500, 800 as well. This Benchmark is more complicated to learn with all the bells and whistles and is very expensive. I was desperate to get the water softener receptacle. Once I start using it, I may have better feedback. I am someone who bought dishwashers through surplus stores. But we bought a high end house and Boscheems to be the gold stand for dishwashers.

Love the Bosch washer. adjustable shelves, a top drawer we use for silverware instead of the basket. It's very, very quiet as well. We tested it by putting in soiled dishes and silverware (we used to rinse everything completely) and they came clean! Also - we had Best Buy install this, and they were extremely courteous and professional. They took a lot of care to lever the dishwasher and make everything perfect!

I waited until I used my new Bosch dishwasher for one month for this review . I had two high end Kitchen Aid dishwashers in the last seven years and this has been a major upgrade. This machine has great performance and is super quiet. Everything that goes in comes out shiny clean. I am hoping the mechanics of the machine are equally as superior . So far it is extra money well spent .

Bosch for the win. Our previous dishwasher never worked right. Would not clean glasses, left residue. We had it repaired twice. Finally replaced it with this Bosch and I LOVE it. It is so quiet when it runs and and we have an open kitchen / living room so that is a big win. Dishes sparkle and I have even stopped rinsing them before loading. Expensive but worth every penny.

Great unit that may have a limited lifespan

This is a very nice and quiet dishwasher. The display on the outside of the unit that tells you the time remaining is very useful. It cleans dishes well. The adjustable height of the top rack is very useful. I'm still getting used to loading it; it has a very different layout than my old KitchenAid. It dries very nicely, too. The app can give helpful, descriptive error messages, like if the lower arm is being blocked by something. The interior LED light is very nice. Things I wish it had / improvements needed: *A light that stays on that says whether the dishes inside are clean or dirty (something that's very useful when you have multiple family members using it). The outside timer only stays illuminated 10 minutes after completion. *A more easily removable silverware tray. I prefer a basket to this (it does have a miniscule basket if wanted) because you can take the silverware to the drawer, instead of carrying them all out. Perhaps the slide out tray cleans them better / is more space efficient. *For the buttons to lock out if the door is open all the way. Otherwise your legs bump the buttons as you're loading / unloading. *My huge gripe and the reason for the low rating: To have the Rinse, tub clean, 1/2 load, eco, delay wash cycle, or tub clean available via another method than the app. They did not give any way to do this, not even via complicated button presses. The app requires your dishwasher to connect to Wi-Fi, and access the internet. However, Bosch does not have any guaranteed security updates for the app or the device itself. Anybody familiar with internet connected devices knows that once they lose support, they become security risks and maybe even cease to function. This device would not need to be in that case, if there was another way to access these functions. Otherwise, it seems like planned obsolescence is the goal. The lifespan of this unit may be limited by its software support. *WPA3 support *The power button is not responsive and it makes you think you haven't pushed it. Button presses aren't responsive in general at times. It seems like it's using a slow processor or something. Kind of strange that Pong from 1972 was more responsive. *Plastic stuff on the top rack gets blown off pretty easily. There are some adjustments for the lower rack you can do in the app, but not the upper. Conversely, I am glad the upper rack is nice and powerful at cleaning, compared to my old unit. *A manual way to see the rinse aid level. The only indication it's low is through the app.
