Alexa has issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros The sound quality is awesome, Airplay 2 works flawlessly Speaker would play any radio station through iheart app added to any 6 presets set on top of the Bose Speaker. Cons But after few hours when you ask Alexa to play any radio station through Iheart app, it would not work and give you an error “that didn’t work please try again” to my surprise pressing the preset button plays that radio station. To fix the issue you have replug the power cord. Spent two hours with Bose support but they were no help. See the attached screen shot for Bose technicians response.

Bose speaker, somethings loose!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speaker looks beautiful, had it less than a day. I listen to classical music and thought this would a great speaker for my small office, i had turned the volume up just over half and very quickly started to make a rattling sound. When I turnedthe volume down just a bit, the rattling would stop and the music would sound great. I thought there was something loose inside, I turned the speaker upside down but heard nothing from inside. It’s a shame, beautiful design as far as looks but not so much for the actual music.

Posted .Hello,
We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing a rattling. This may be down to the positioning of your speaker and reacting to any bass. Move the system away from a wall or corner to decrease bass response as the rear firing port causes system tone characteristics to change depending on location. You can also adjust the audio settings in the Bose Music app, you can do so by the following instruction; https://bit.ly/3rScD7h If this persists, reach out to us via https://bit.ly/3UNtwsQ so we can assist you further.

Can I give this thing zero stars?
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the speaker to play relaxing music while I sleep. It does not come with a remote control so I have to use my phone which is very inconvenient. About three weeks ago the buggy app disconnected from my speaker and I have not been able to reconnect it. I have spoken with two people at Bose I’ve done everything they told me to do and it doesn’t work. I have three other SoundTouch speakers which they no longer make and the app for that has issues on a daily basis. As much as I like Bose and I’ve been a customer for a very long time I will never buy another product from them again.

Boze great speaker ... horrible customer SERVICE!!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Makes it not worth it!! LOVE THE SPEAKER! I am not tech savy... brought it down to show me what was going wrong ... why I could not connect it to MY phone. All the guy wanted to do was embarrass me to the other customers... trying to show hiw intelligent HE WAS... wellDuh...I wouldnt have been standing there if I hadn't already known that fact! HE . kept loudly saying I' ll bet you I can connect my phone ... because i thought there might be something wrong with it because i could bluetooth to my other items.... so he kept focusing on that and after he connected his phone ... told me i would have to pay membership .... for their services if i wanted their help to figure out what was wrong... I didnt understand I had named it... it was that simple... simple to explain... and yet he was only interested in proving there was something wrong with me ... which i readily had already admited to by saying I didnot understand what i might be doing wrong ...because "I was not tech savvy!... wow very errogant! Cant wait til they experience older age ... but there again, I cant even imagine the what the attitudes of people will be like then, if they are this bad now!!!

Very disappointed
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What did I pay $300 for? Oh my oh my this was a mistake. For being $300, I expected pretty good amount of bass and pretty good amount of clarity but I was really wrong! I set this thing up and was shocked at what I heard. The bass was horrible and the clarity was alright. For being bose, I was shocked at the way this thing sounded. The $200 Amazon echo studio sounds way and I mean way better than this thing. Both bass and clarity are way better on the Amazon echo studio. This was a very big letdown for being bose and very disappointing. I definitely will be returning this.

Posted .Hey Josh, it seems very strange that you are not getting the audio expected by Bose from your speaker. In the Bose Music app, there is the option to either increase or decrease Bass/Treble settings. This should help you to experience the audio quality you know and love.

High price for poor tech product.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality is nice. However, the speaker struggles mightily to connect to wifi and any slight switch in the network and you have to completely factory reset the speaker to reconnect with the app. In case anyone is wondering about the wifi signal, I have a two ASUS routers and a mesh system to ensure full home coverage. To also verify, every other device in the same area has zero connectivity issues. Overall, poor choice for a home speaker. At the price point, and smart capabilities, there are much better options.

Should have stuck with gut feeling
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well let me start off by saying I had purchased a Sony xg300 that was defective (Bluetooth wouldn't connect properly and speaker would crackle then go off) so I drove to best buy and exchanged for this smart speaker 500 opened it up when I got home set it up started playing music to just test it since it was going to be my work speaker, once I turned the volume to 60% this annoying buzz/crack started coming from the left speaker (if looking directly at the screen) any time any bass was in any song it just made this horrible sound. I contacted Bose and chatted cause I had read quite a few 1 star reviews stating the exact issue I was experiencing. Should have stuck with my gut feeling and gotten the Sonos era 100 like I wanted but I figured Bose had fixed the issue for new devices. Guess I was wrong so if you listen to ANY music with good bass (90s 00s Rap use caution cause you may have this issue) now returning this and getting the Sonos era 100. Hope this review helps. Also Bose customer support was very good and helpful but at the end of our chat I was advised to just return back to best buy

Useless brick after 6 months.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't bother. The sound is great, the bluetooth is trash. Even hardwired in, it failed after 6 months. Bose quality has really gone downhill in the last few years, and I am extremely disappointed - especially for the money they charge.

Music cuts in and out when using Alexa.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bose-Home speaker 500 sounds great but unfortunately when you play music using Alexa commands the music stops playing after a few seconds and then the music comes and goes and it happens with spotify and pandora. I spent an hour with technical support without success. according to the reviews a lot of people are having the same problem but the weird thing is that a lot of other people are not. so I returned it after 2 days of annoying issues of music always skipping or not playing at all.

Update Killed the Speaker Sync
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The delay is SO BAD! This thing stressed me out after the update. Can't get it to sync to the TV anymore. People talk and no sound comes out until about 2 seconds after. DO NOT UPDATE! Other than that it's pretty good. Loud and Clear with some Bass behind it.. I just can't put it to accurate use since their software/firmware update. Have to return this one and I really don't want to.
I would recommend this to a friendBrand response from Bose
Posted .Hey, I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing an audio delay since updating the firmware of your speaker.
Does the delay only occur when you're using the speaker for TV audio? This speaker isn't designed for video audio as the connection would have to be wireless. Therefore, the signal path could cause delays between audio-video. With that being said, it sounds like you had a working setup before. Have you reset your speaker? To do this, remove the power for 30 seconds and then reconnect.
I'm glad that you're impressed with the sound quality. If you have further issues, please do not hesitate to reach out - https://bose.life/2WZOG8Z.

Best buy: the Boeing of electronics.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best buy does not take quality control or customer service seriously. Unfortunately, the corporate drive for profits and relentless cost cutting means quality control and customer service are afterthoughts... Boeing comes to mind here Twice I ordered an open box Bose speakers which are supposed to be in "excellent condition', which means all original parts and accessories are included, but twice I received speakers without a power cord and I had to return it. Very disappointing

Quick and Untimely death
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially wouldve given higher rating but ive had it only 3 weeks, never have it above 60-70% at its loudest and now it crackles and rattles with any bass. Like a speaker blew and its not even a full month old. Im out the money already so ive contacted bose to see about repairs but the fact theres ANY issue this soon out the box with occasional use is concerning . I used to think of Bose as quality product and this experience leads me to believe otherwise now.

Good Sound Quality, Terrible Technology
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose makes great speakers, plain and simple. However, if you're looking for features, you should think twice about purchasing this. First...while it says it supports Google Assistant, that is only partly true. You can not use this to stream music from any of the Google services. They seem to want to force you into a subscription to some obscure 3rd party service. Second...you can stream via bluetooth, kinda. It is difficult to set up, and often takes 3 or 4 times to connect to my S10. I've been unable to get other devices to connect to it. Third...even the aux in port is meh. Using a cord that I use for another setup, I noticed significant sound quality loss. If you only have one device that you would like to keep paired 24/7, this might be an overpriced option that works for you.

Posted .Hey!
Great to hear that you absolutely love the sound quality of the speaker! It's highly unusual to hear of your comments for the auxiliary cable input. Certainly test out using a different cable to ensure there is no fault. In the unlikely event you run into any Bluetooth connection difficulties, troubleshooting will always resolve this. Please try the steps at https://bose.life/2ZHMR5k.
Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are indeed built-in to the speaker! The speaker features a custom 8-microphone array for superior voice pickup, even in loud environments. We continue to expand the abilities of our voice assistant partnerships, but thanks for your feedback!

Posted .Hi there! Sorry to hear of the trouble you experienced using the Home Speaker 500. Whilst your speaker is actively connected to WiFi, it will show available to use in the Bose Music app. Any interruption or interference to this connection may result in a drop out. I'd advise to relocate the system closer to the source of WiFi if needed - to improve signal.
We'd love to look into things further with you so you can get the most out of your system. If you have not already, please contact us directly using the following information https://bose.life/3670zig.

Worst speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have to scream very loud so alexa build in on speaker to hear a command. Most of the time won’t do anything. The screen is off now won’t show the time or music playing. Sound it’s Okay not the best. It cant be sync to my Bose Theatre system because it’s a different generation (1 year older). It won’t let you sync iTunes Music except by Bluetooth. So if asked to play a song it won’t play it cause it’s not supported. For a year we been trying to get a solution but Customer service haven’t been able to help to resolve issues. It means product just don’t work. Worst purchase ever.

Posted .Hi there! Sorry to hear you've been having difficulties. The Home Speaker 500 features a custom-designed eight-microphone array, so the speaker can hear you, even when background noise is loud. I recommed reading this article for further assistance on using Alexa - https://bose.life/2RYgBFC, as well as help for any speaker display or WiFi issues . If you'd like to set your display to show time, simply go into the Bose Music app and adjust, underneath Settings > Clock - thats the setting I've chosen for mine! As well as the option to stream via Bluetooth, this speaker also boasts AirPlay compatibility - a great help for your iTunes music streaming and connecting Apple devices. I appreciate you've called us previously, but do not hesitate to get in touch again if need be. Sam - Bose Customer Support

Does Not Last - Very Glitchy
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit worked for a few months. Then the display failed. It was sent in for factory repairs. Now, the display and voice response does not work. After a factory reset, it cannot connect in the Bose app to play or connect to Alexa. Now, it is out of warranty and have to pay $99 to fix it again. It is glitchy and recommend not to purchase this smart speaker.

Please try these simple steps for a better Bluetooth connection. I suggest that you remove it from the pairing of your Bluetooth source, reboot the source, and then pair it again.
The Home Speaker 500 can fill any room with stereo sound because the two custom drivers point in opposite directions to bounce sound off the walls.

Disappointment
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was hoping in could be anyhow better than apple HomePod but I was wrong. The sound is good-same as apple. But in a few months it started to work really bad, with static frequency, Alexa doesn’t work at all, only google but sometimes it doesn’t respond correctly and any command I do through my phone or by voice responds very slow. I wish I could return but it’s too late.
