I waited a few months to write this review because my opinion of the Bose sound bar changed dramatically during that time. At first, I was ready to bring it back thinking that the bass was weak and the overall volume not enough to get a theater experience. My wife liked it though and so I kept it. I'm glad I did. After a couple of weeks (past the time you have to return it), the speaker really opened up and gave us a very natural, satisfying sound. The bass was full and deep but in the background where the bass belongs. The mids and highs were right there and well balanced. Beautiful, full, natural sound. So glad I kept it. Give it a chance, readjust your mind away from the over powering bass of today's sound toward a more natural bass position, and you will find you have a great sound from a small system. Conversation mode is great to hear dialogue over overwhelming bass background while maintaining a good bass sound. Very nice.

Incredible sound!! Even better when you add the surround sound speakers.

I bought this sound bar for the sole purpose of being able to HEAR the dialogue in a movie. Most movies I found, when the music or sound effects were going on, I was BLASTED out of the room, and had to turn the sound down, and when they just spoke, I had to turn it back up. I was at the point of just turning on the CC so I could read what was being said and decided to try this BOSE sound bar first. Let me just say this, if you're looking for complete surround sound, you need to buy a system made for that (usually 5-7 speakers). This BOSE sound bar worked with great efficiency at a good price, was easy to set up and does what I needed it to do!! I can hear every word being spoken and not waking up the neighbors when music scores play...for example, " A Star Is Born" or "Crazy Heart" have lots of music scenes, this bar compressed it well!! The bass boost on the system also works well, but I can say a lot of these negative reviews on sound bars have a lot to do with the source and how you set up your digital output on the TV. I noticed on my old sound bar (9 year old Vizio) worked well with pluto tv and Netflix, but was horrible with Fandango Now and Hulu. This bar worked well with all of them, but even better when I changed the source for each. Now, I'm not going to change the audio set up on my TV for each platform just to get "The Best Sound" (who has time for that??) so until each different platform runs on the same audio source this will continue to be a problem with ALL sound bars, But the BOSE solo 5 was able to work well with all of them, better on some than others, but with all I CAN HEAR THE VOICES, and that's why I bought this!!

I bought this for my bedroom. I didn't want the base and something big. This was the smallest soundbar with the highest quality i could find and i was not disappointed. Easy set up and the sound filled my bedroom. Great job Bose!

This was my first Soundbar and I am really pleased. I looked at other systems, but I have the noise-cancelling BOSE headphones and use those every night. So I stuck with Bose. I live in a condo so I did not need a subwoofer. That said, this was plenty of base for my living room, and it is vastly better than the speakers in my new Samsung 50" Ultra HDtv. The Bluetooth function works perfectly, and the base is honestly even better than my headphones. In fact any more base and I would have unhappy neighbors! Not sure I like the remote yet, but it is only the first day so I am still playing around with it. It does not mimic surround sound, as others have written, but if you have a relatively small living space this will do you right! Great, sleek soundbar.

I bought the sound bar for my master bed room and OMG better than I thought love it. Great product, I really love the fact that I can connect to blue tooth so I can play my music.

Purchased this just so that we would have better sound quality. Not something you would want to purchase if your looking for a theater experience. But if your just looking for better quality because your speakers on your tv point down! This is perfect. The remote was a little tricky since all of my products are the same brand. Also I couldn't get it to sync with my PlayStation. Another downfall is that if your going to put it directly in front of your tv, that's where the sensor for most tvs are to control them. We have been getting an arm workout since we do not have our tv mounted and we do not have a shelf that fits the speaker on our stand.

Great sound for a relatively small unit; really completes the experience with our new 60" TV!

Great soundbar! I love it, its really loud!! Get it

I bought this because the speakers on my TV were not loud enough for the living room. This soundbar was super easy to setup and we enjoying great sound in about 5 mins! For a little device you get great sound and now we can really hear the dialogue well. Makes watching TV and movies a lot more fun now!

I bought the sound bar in store yesterday, after shopping around. It is by far the best sounding single speaker solution, I didn't want a separate subwoofer. The audio is outstandingly better than the TV speakers in my 55" 4k, my only complaint is that I couldn't get the remote to control my Element Roku TV. Video games sound excellent, as does movies I just finished watching Venom 4k I am happy!!!

Purchased this yesterday from a local Best Buy and I’ve been blown away at the sound coming out of this small of a speaker. Highly recommend for streaming music from your phone to it. My only complaint (and I think it’s something I’m doing wrong) is hooked up to a tv for audio it doesn’t seem to get nearly as loud as playing through Bluetooth

for the price this sound bar is great. Sound is crystal clear. I love it.

We just purchased a sony 75' TV and needed something better for the sound. We purchased this speaker and a different bose model that had a subwoofer. This was so great, it sounded better than without and it was SUPER easy to set up. However, we thought the one with the subwoofer sounded a little bit better. They are both bose though so you cannot really go wrong.

This is my second Solo sound bar the first was the solo 15 1st series. This one is for my room and the solo 15 is in the living room. The 15 is much louder compared the the 5 but the sound still fills my bedroom really nicely. I also like that the remotes are universal I can use the 15s remote to turn on the solo 5!

Great quality sound and compact size easy to install

I spent some time listening to supplemental speakers for my 55 inch TV. This sound is an upgrade without too high of a price. I like that they can be adjusted for voice clarity. The blue tooth feature is a plus, as you can listen to music from another source without the wires. I almost like using them for this purpose better than the TV.

Bought a new Sony 65 inch TV. All the flat screen TV's have their speakers on the back, and I'm a little hard of hearing. So I reviewed several sound bars on the web and found the Solo 5. It does not come with a separate sub woofer, but i didn't buy it for the bass. I bought it for sound enhancement, particularly dialogue. In one of the reviews I read, the reviewer had called Bose who told him to plug the optical cable into his cable box instead of the TV for even better sound quality. I did that, and the impact of the sound bar is fabulous. I'm really pleased. And set up is a breeze. Plug in the power source, plug in the optical audio cable, turn it on and you're all set. Took longer to remove the sound bar contents from the box it came in. And the dialogue enhancer button on the remote improves it even further, though I understand you have to separately activate that every time you turn on the sound bar.

Does anyone know if Bose has corrected the issues that are listed on these reviews? This would be perfect for my small den, but needs to be simple for me. I purchased a Bose stereo a couple of years ago, and the sound is not nearly as good as a very old one a friend has.....sad that quality seems to go down rather than up these days.
