I first bought the Sony M6 headphones and they were good, but the plastic build made the quality seem a little cheap. Sound was good though, I ultimately returned those in favor of the Bower Wilkins. The Bowers have great sound, great build quality and are more comfortable on my head than the Sonys.

These are great headphones! The sound quality is fantastic. They have a very premium feel and look. My favorite feature is the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously. I often have to switch between several phone calls and Zoom/Teams meetings in my workday. My old headphones could only connect to one device at a time, which was a pain. So this feature with the B&W headphones has been a godsend. I would definitely recommend.

In a sea of seemingly non-descript smooth cupped headphones, the Px7 S3 are a clear standout. From the bold deep Indigo color, mix of materials, textures, and features these headphones are for the people who are seeking something refined, premium and performant. The Px7 S3s are a continued evolution of what I’ve come to expect from B&W headphones. Starting with the hardshell case it has a nice cloth covering which feels durable and resistant to staining and attracting dust and hair. It’s a little large mainly since the headphone cups don’t fold in. This, however, does leave space for a compartment with a magnetic door that holds your USB charging and usb-to-3.5mm cables. It doesn’t come with one, but one could theoretically fit a skinny USB power adapter in there as well. The inside of the case is cloaked in a smooth felt and is molded to cradle the headphones perfectly. There is also a nice thick padded backing on the lid of the case which helps secure and protect the headphone cups. The case is very thoughtfully designed and feels very high-end in my opinion. Moving on to the headphones Bowers & Wilkins is showcasing their materials engineering know-how. The headband is topped with the same material choice as the case with a leatherette padding on the underside. They had good clamping force to hold the headphones in place, but not too tight. The length of the headband is widely adjustable with 1.5” of play on each side so it should accommodate most head sizes. The adjustable metal headband transitions down into a half yoke reminiscent of past Px series models which gives the illusion of motion within the design. The cups feature a combination of the plush leatherette padding along with the metal from the headband which has a alternating rectangular pattern around the ear cup reminiscent to dentils that you might see in crown molding – a subtle nod to classical luxury. Overall, I found them amply padded making them comfortable to wear for an extended period of time. In terms of controls, there are no touchpad gimmicks here – just reliable buttons. Initially the location of the buttons frustrated me as they are on the narrower part of the ear cup, but after wearing them for several days I’ve gotten accustomed to the location. Depending on the size of your hands/fingers you may or may not like the placement of these controls, so I would check them out to make sure it’s something you are comfortable with. I would personally prefer it if the buttons were a little wider to make them easier targets. In day to day use the Px7 S3s perform and sound great. I made slight tweaks to the EQ of the phones to be slightly heavier on the bass side since that is what I prefer. The app allows you to keep your headphones updated and tweak your controls. Curiously, the wear sensor which is supposed to pause music when you remove your headphones or lift an earcup does not work at the moment which is annoying but minor in my opinion – hopefully they will fix that in an upcoming software update. The noise cancellation overall works great compared to other competitors and I thought the passthrough mode was a standout personally. Call quality was also great with good background noise cancellation on the microphone so that both sides of the call can have a pleasant experience.

I'm going to start this review with a little bias for your consideration: I've been a Sony WH-1000X fanboy for many years, really from the XM3's on. They offer great sound, excellent noise cancellation, a phenomenal build while still being lightweight, and they are extremely portable. And I think that FINALLY I've found a replacement...but it's not without its sacrifices. I also had the Px7 S2 headphones from B&W, which were a great set of headphones that didn't *quite* convince me to make the switch. And, if you have the S2, you probably shouldn't invest in an upgrade just yet. The S3, on the other hand, are the same as--if not better than--the S2 in every category, and it's enough to tip the scales for me. Probably my biggest complaint about the S2 was the weight and clamping pressure. I love a good, sturdy-feeling product as much as the next guy, but that weight (307 grams) combined with an over-aggressive squeeze on my head was enough to make the experience of wearing these for longer periods of time less than ideal (the Sony XM series, on the other hand, are so light and comfortable that they're easy to forget they're on your head). The Px7 S3 are very slightly lighter (300 grams) but have a much less aggressive clamping pressure, making them comfortable and enjoyable for hours. The only caveat is the heat: if you find your ears getting sweaty in over-ear headphones, just know that these aren't going to be any different. Noise cancelation and call quality are both vastly improved over the S2. The S3 now boasts 8 microphones for calls versus 2 in the S2 and 6 microphones for ANC versus 4 in the S2. But here's why that matters: the S2 was already one of my best performing headphones for ANC and calls, and B&W makes it that much better with the S3. The S3 are also slimmer. While they still don't fold up as nicely as my Sony XM4 headphones, they definitely have slimmer cups than last generation and look a little less bulky when being worn. They also come with a nice zippered clamshell case that will protect them in your bag; the case also has a small compartment for cord storage. And, when being worn, the sound is oh so lovely: the same or better performance than the S2, as the drivers are the same size but have been slightly improved. With support for lossless audio playback, the listening experience on these, when considered with the in-app equalizer, is second to none...not even to my XM4. (One point of contention on the app is the inability to utilize the app without setting up an account first. It's not a huge deal to me, but I think some would find that annoying.) There is also a new button and port layout on the S3 from last year, moving them more toward the back of the cup because the cups themselves have been slimmed down. The buttons are also split between the two cups, instead of being placed on only the right side as with the S2. I'll admit, the cups and switches aren't always the easiest to find, but I imagine I'll adjust to that over time. The USB-C port (the only port) has also been shifted from the right ear to the left ear, which feels more 'normal' to me. One thing that hasn't changed from last year is that the headphones must be powered on to use corded--there is no pass through mode available for analog-only connections. By and large, these headphones are great. They also retail at $449, which is not a small amount to pay for headphones. That's honestly the hardest pill to swallow, but I also think that with the price of basically everything going up, it doesn't feel as out of place (it is worth noting that the S2 retailed at $400). But for $450, you have a solid performer in every category, including phenomenal call quality and excellent ANC. If you can get over the price tag, these might just be the headphones you're looking for.

I'm a new owner of the B&W Px7S3 headphones in indigo blue (they also come in black and off-white) and I can't say enough good things about them. I don't have much experience with B&W except for the Pi8 earbuds. I wasn't too impressed with them at first but they have definitely grown on me with time and usage. I have read many glowing reviews about B&W's past over-the-ear headphones and was eager to give these new series Px7S3 phones a try. First off, I was surprised about the compact size of these headphones. The premium case seemed unusually small and after opening, the actual headphones are considerably smaller than other headphones I own. That was a nice surprise. The case also has a compartment with a magnetic door that holds the included USB C charging cable as well as a USB C to 3.5mm stereo jack cable. The 3.5mm cable is a nice addition if you want to listen to a higher 24-bit, 96kHz source. They are beautifully crafted of fabric, super soft padded leather (not sure if it's actual leather), and brushed matte plastic. The ear pads seem less thick as well but after usage, they are still very effective and comfortable. There are just a few physical buttons on the underside of the ear cups that control the power, a programmable quick action button (ANC or voice assistant), connect/end call, volume up and down and play/pause, FF, RW. The buttons are a bit too small and if I had a gripe, this would be it. The headphones feel quite light and B&W notes that they weigh in at 300 grams, which is again better than several of my other headphones. They did not feel heavy while using them and I also had no problems with pinch points from the ear cups or headband. It appears B&W put in a ton of effort to make sure these are comfortable. The actual sound performance was also stellar. These units utilize a 40mm bio-cellulose driver and they deliver wonderfully rich separation and resolution. I loved the spacial effect it creates when the highs, mids and lows are not muddied up together in any way. I also very quickly tested for any distortion at higher volume and didn't identify anything noticeable. They are out of the box tuned for strong bass but after linking them up to the B&W Music app, I fine tuned them with the 5 band EQ. I got them just right very quickly. They have Bluetooth 5.3 on board and support aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX Classic, AAC and SBC codecs. They have multipoint connectivity (2 devices) if that's needed. They have 8 mics that work together for the ANC/Transparency functions which is quite effective but honestly, not as powerful as some of the competition. The 8 mics also provide clear calls if using with your phone or when the transparency mode is activated. Speaking of phones, they support MFi Made For iPhone and Google Fast Pair. They are an absolute pleasure to listen to and with 30 hours of battery life with ANC on, I can do that without worry of them shutting down in the middle of a song. They even have a quick charge function that gets 7 hours of playback with just a 15 minute charge! So far, so very good and I have now made them my go-to headphones. I'm EXTREMELY impressed with these Px7S3s and appreciate all the consideration and technology that Bowers& Wilkens has put into them. Well done B&W!!!!

Okay. The first question you may have is, is it really worth it to spend this much money on a pair of headphones? For the average person, maybe not. But if you really love sound, can afford it, and wonder if these headphones are worth the money, the answer is definitely YES. In addition to Bluetooth, you can connect physically to a source with either the supplied USB-C cable or the 3.5 mm. cable. Some folks enjoy physical connections when it’s available. All the controls on the device are ‘physical,’ not virtual as in cheaper headphones. You can feel the buttons and the slider switch for easier control. Everything about these headphones say “Premium.” The solid construction, the feel of them. For headphones this large, they are extremely comfortable. They ‘hug’ your head, but not uncomfortably at all. This subject brings me to the three position “environment control” located in the free Bowers and Wilkins app. “Noise cancellation,” “Pass-through” and “Off.” It’s amazing how effective each position is. “Off” is just that. Exterior sounds are just muffled by the headphone cups themselves. “Noise cancellation” really decreases external sounds. I didn’t do a direct comparison with other headphones, but I can assure you that on as a passenger on a plane, you’ll be very pleased. The “Pass Through” setting uses the unit’s microphones to allow you to hear ambient noise around you clearly, almost as if you weren’t wearing headphones at all. Battery life is amazing. You’ll get 30 hours on a full charge. If you should run out, another 15 minutes of charging will give you 7 hours of more playtime. That’s a pretty good charge-to-listening time ratio. The app also features five band EQ adjustments. The “true sound” setting allows you to hear your music as the producers intended. You can of course adjust the settings to your liking. I loved the ease of Bluetooth pairing, not only with my smartphone, but with connection to my computer as well. These headphones feature “Bluetooth Multipoint.” With other headphones, when I changed the Bluetooth audio source, I’d have to re-pair with each device every time. The Px7 S3 handled different sources beautifully, and also, if you’re watching a movie on your computer and you get a call on your smartphone, you can answer as if its coming from the same device! The carrying case offers the protection you’d expect for quality headphones such as these. A little pocket for the USB cords are included. Bottom line, Bowers and Wilkins have come up with a real winner here. If you can afford them, I think it’s a great investment for your music.

I really like these headphones but I have to admit that they don’t have everything and there are some trade offs compared to other expensive headphones in this price range. First off I do really like the look and feel of these. It just feels high end. It comes with a couple different cables, both a USBc to USBc for charging and a USBc to headphone jack for those of you with phones that have cut out your audio jack. I also like that the case, while still pretty compact, actually doesn’t feel like a puzzle to try and fold the headphones and fit them back in. It just all seems really well thought out and designed. The features themselves are great. It loads up to my computer or phone without any issues. None of this annoying needing to have their app in order to link it to your device so that it can’t be connected to any windows phone or gaming system. The power button isn’t the only button on them so you don’t have to do any intricate memorizing of taps and holds to try and control this set. It has a switch for bluetooth or not which I think is helping to save battery power if I want to plug directly into it, but that may just be in my head. Sound is clear and loud if I want it to be. Noise cancellation seems to work well and I can turn the volume way down and still hear things thanks to it. The only two drawbacks are: 1 - the size of the ear cups seem a bit smaller than other over ear sets I’ve had. That’s fine for me and it is comfortable to wear for a long time, even all morning doing yard work, but if you have larger ears and this is a problem for you, you may want to try them out for sizing before buying. 2 - they don’t really muffle the sound very well for over the ear headphones. A lot of the others I have tried are practically ear protection when turned off and by themselves. These do muffle sounds for sure, but a lot still does get through. I can really notice this when mowing the lawn. Its still pretty good and probably good enough for minor protection when doing things like mowing the lawn. But if you work in a loud shop that need ear protection and are hoping it could double for that, you may want to select something else. Then again it is pretty good and if you’ve been using cheap ear protection, maybe its still better than what you’ve been using? Overall a great set of headphones and I’d still recommend them to anyone.

Earbuds are nice, convenient even.. but there are times you just want a different experience. These over the ear noise canceling headphones are very good, and very appealing visually. Sleek finish, gives them a great appearance. Easy to access buttons for volume, allow you to adjust quickly. The overall sound quality is stellar, both for music and videos. Deep and clear, and the noise canceling does wonders in most environments. Even on a loud plane, it knocks out most of the background sound. My first down, is the power/bluetooth button. It is physical up/down switch.. not just a push button. You need to switch the headphones on, and then continue to push up for a moment to do the binding. Very different then most modern headphones, and as much as I move them from device to device, I am concerned I may break it some day. The pairing tones are soft, and you may miss them.. but overall it is really easy to pair to devices. I was able to pair to an iPhone, iPad, and a Peloton. My next minor down, is these really are NOT for usage while you are working out. While on the Peloton, great sound... awesome sound.. BUT the material doesn't allow for airflow, so a lot of sweat build up... and I can see it getting warn down in time, as you wipe it dry. While wearing for a long time, may get a little heavy. I wore them on multiple 4+ hr flights, and by the end.... it was a minor relaxation on the weight. The last nit pick, the way the headphones fit in the case, you can't leave them in the case, and close the case, while charging (USB-C, which is nice). Just a really minor nit pick. Overal... really really nice. High quality, great sound, great noise canceling, just a couple of small things

my family absolutely loves these headphones, my kids are 11 and 9 and are constantly calling dibs and fighting over who get to use them. the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 headphones are truly amazing. they both love the indigo blue color and say that the pad are so unbelievably comfortable. they charge very quickly with a USBC that is included in the carrying case. lets talk abut the carrying case. it has a little magnetic door that keeps the cord safe. its perfect size to throw into a backpack for travel and protects the product amazingly! the noise cancelling is the best. my kids used it on a plane ride recently and they said it was so quiet! they also claim that it doesn't hurt their heads like some headphones will. (you know what I'm talking about, that top of the head pain from wearing headphones too long). we didn't charge them for our whole trip and there was more than enough battery left! it is annoying to set up in app, we already have too many apps. but once set up its amazing. I highly recommend!

To start, these things are really comfortable and look pretty good too. The hard case that comes with them is handy as well, offering good protection when I stuff them in my bag. Comfort-wise, these are pretty great for over-ear headphones. The memory foam on the earcups and headband is soft but supportive, so they don't clamp too hard on my head. I've worn them for three or four hours straight while working and they don't give me that sore spot on top like some others do. The foam is some of the squishiest, softest I've felt, on anything. The sound is what really impresses me though. It's clear and balanced across the board. Highs aren't piercing, mids come through nicely, and the bass is there without overwhelming everything. I've been listening to a lot of my old albums in high-res audio through a streaming service, and it's like rediscovering the music. Stuff like subtle guitar plucks or faint backing vocals that I never picked up on before suddenly stand out, making everything feel more alive and layered. Even regular tracks sound better, with good space between instruments so nothing sounds "muddy". Battery life is really; I get around 30 hours with noise cancellation on, and a quick charge gives me enough for the rest of the day if I forget to plug them in overnight. The noise cancelling handles low rumbles and voices well, and the transparency mode lets in outside sounds, which is handy for quick chats. Pairing with my phone and laptop is straightforward, and the app lets me tweak a few things. On the downside, the noise cancelling isn't the best at blocking higher noises like lawnmowers or wind when I'm outside, so sometimes I have to turn up the volume more. And if you're looking for really deep, punchy bass these probably aren't what you want. They do have plenty of bass, but it's balanced. I listen to pretty much all kinds of music and kick drums in rock tracks sound great as well as rap and hip hop beats, but really bass heavy tracks may sound a little lacking to you. But other than that there's really nothing to complain about. At this price, they're not cheap, but I feel like they're worth the price. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. They've become my favorites for music. Even though the bass doesn't "hit hard", that's not what these are made for. But if you're into detailed and well balanced sound and listening to music how the artist intended, you can't go wrong with these.

Unboxed and charged the headset with the included USB-C cable. Note that it is type C on both ends so you will need an adapter if all you have are USB-A chargers. The storage case is very nice with a cloth wrapped exterior and padded interior. There is a storage compartment built-in to keep the included cables handy. The quick start guide gives a pictorial overview of the controls, status light info, and QR code for downloading the Bowers & Wilkins app. When completing the setup in the app I found it quite unnecessary that it forces users to create an account with Bowers and Wilkins to connect to your device locally to configure or update. I understand there are likely benefits to having a B&W account, but it should be optional as it just gets in the way and adds extra steps in order to enjoy some music with your new headphones. It was easy to Bluetooth connect the Px7 to various devices. If connected to a mobile device that has the B&W app you can adjust the sound with a basic EQ, connect to multiple music services (surprisingly Spotify nor Apple Music were in the list) to have an integrated way to organize and access them in one place I suppose. Interestingly it kind of offered more variety of mixes to me than my Tidal app would. The app also shows the current battery level, current noise cancellation mode, along with links for various types of help. The sound is phenomenal, as is expected at this price point. The Headset is light weight, and the ear cups are soft and fit well over the ear. Plenty of padding all over make it very comfortable to wear for extended periods. There is an included cable with a 3.5 phono connector that plugs into the USB port if you don’t have a Bluetooth connection, however, without the app you are unable to make any EQ adjustments. Overall design is modern, classy and not large or bulky. The indigo blue is also very nice giving them a bit of flair as well.

    Exceptional Sound and Noise Cancellation

These are indeed an elegant pair of headphones. They have a soft, yet substantial feel that immediately tells you it's not cheaply made. The cup profile is relatively flat, so you won't have big "cans" sticking out the side of your head. And most importantly, the ear fit (at least for my mid-large head) is comfortable - completely covering my ears. Noise cancellation is incredibly effective. Controllable with a button, the ANC does a great job of blocking out most of the external sounds - especially ambient noise. This helped deliver a clearer music listening experience. Regarding the sound, itself, I was actually surprised by how much bass the headphones delivered - actually more than I preferred. Fortunately, the companion app allows you to set equalization levels and save them as profiles. The app isn't necessary to pair with your devices, but is useful for configurations, firmware updates, etc. I actually appreciate that the app isn't a requirement for connectivity. But put simply, the sound is fantastic yet still customizable. Finally, I have to compliment Bowers & Wilkins for providing a REAL case for these headphones. It's not just a cheap sleeve or cinch sack, but an actual hardshell case that's svelte and even has a magnetically-closing compartment to hold the extra cables. All of the details of these headphones - even down to its case - is exceptional.
