Picked up this unit at a great discount thanks to Open Item discount but I've come to see why it was returned.. iPhone 4S AirPlay compatibility is spotty at best. So far I'm 2 weeks into the return period and as much as it hurts to return it seeing how I got it for 325, i cannot justify paying any amount of money for a product that doesnt perform as advertised. I personally had no trouble setting it up on my wifi but you'll find plenty of horror stories discussing trouble with initial setup. My advice is to connect to ethernet first, then have it join your wifi. Sound quality is great. Better than any docks that are available right now. The closes dock that comes close to matching this unit is the Apple Hi-Fi which was discontinued years ago. Both used class-d amps and similar driver arrangement. Maybe B&W copied :)

Ok guys, here is what I think! The speaker is great! Sound is really nice and rich, didnt really expect that... The bad part is Air Play., its just dont wanna work,I did all set up right as it says in manual, step by step.first it worked , but then it just quit working, no sound was coming out, I got so mad at was about to bring it back.. Then I decided to reset it,and surprisingly it worked! To be honest all I wanted is to play my music and radio via iPhone... Didnt care much about Air Play anyway... So now since I did reset it, speaker never goes to sleep or dont have any sound issue. So if Air Play is really important to you, dont buy it!

    Best Sounddock at Best Buy

There seems to be a lot of complaints about the set up, but the directions are very straightforward in my opinion. The hardest part of the set up would be entering one's WiFi password on the setup page (from my experience in setting up computers for people, they never seemed to know their own WiFi password). The AirPlay works great, I have not experienced any issues with it skipping or glitching. Every now and then the Zeppelin needs to be power cycled for it to reconnect to the network (Like any other WiFi capable device). Once it is back on, the light blinks while it connects to the network, and when it turns solid purple the AirPlay button shows up on my phone. It is no different then connectivity issues you find with a laptop or any other device. That aside, the sound dock is AMAZING. Each person has their own taste/expectations for sound quality. B&W provides exceptional quality sound in my opinion. I love how rich and full it is. The Bose sound docks sound "tinty" by comparison. I have the Bose Soundlink, which I will say is a great product for carrying around the house, picnics, BBQ's, travel, etc. I spent over $5000 building my home theater system while I worked at Circuit City and Best Buy. Thus, I am extremely picky when it comes to audio quality. This sound dock is the best and most reasonable on the market in my opinion without spending ridiculous amounts of money (already did that on the HT system).

I have been eying this product for quite some time. I am not hasty to jump into $600 purchases (especially for something that essentially will serve the primary function of being an iphone accessory) without doing some research and product testing. I tested the product in the store, the sound was amazing. At one Best Buy location i was actually able to connect my iPhone wirelessly using airplay. I was sold at that point. It was only a matter of time before I would make the purchase. Earlier this week I finally decided to take the leap and boy was i disappointed! When I got the product home I meticulously connected it to my WiFi network using my computer (as instructed by the product guide). It took 20 minutes or so but I was able to successfully connect it on the first try. I was able to stream music from my Mac Book Pro as well as my iPad2. I did notice some minor errors with connecting my iPhone 4s. Today I have been thoroughly testing the Zeppelin comparing it to my Bose Sound Dock 10. Here are the results. Ease of use - Bose wins hands down. (the Zeppelin has had intermittent connection issues all day...not just air play connection but aux jack and dock connection issues as well). On the contrary the Bose just works out of the box. the dock has never failed me 100 times out of 100.. The Aux jack works without a hitch as well. The bluetooth module is a great substitute for airplay if you have your idevice within 30 feet of the speaker. Some might argue that you will have lesser quality sound but I couldn't recognize any degradation. Quality of Sound - Bose wins because of better clarity in the mids and the highs as well as more volume and bass.It was close though! If you did not have the 2 speakers in the room with you, you may not be able to discern the difference. Both my wife and I agreed the Bose Sound Dock has a little bit better sound. Price - a Draw. They both cost $600 retail and are consider a luxury item to most people. Conclusion - I am taking the Zeppelin back. I ignore the odd shape in favor of the sound when I made the purchase but the deal breaker for me is that it just didn't work...the airplay didn't work, the dock didn't work all the time, every time, and the aux hookup was the same. I think the problem also had to do with difficulty switching between sources because the little LED on the front is hard to see from a distance and the colors are similar to each other and very faint. I probably just got a faulty unit (I hope so at least). At this point though, I wish I had another set of arms so i could give this product 4 thumbs down. Sorry not worth $600!

Overall, the Zeppelin Air is a great audio player for apple products. The sound is rich and the bass is very present. If you are looking for a good sounding system but are not wanting to deploy a full AV solution, this is a good fit. The only real negative about this device is that there are some issues with Airplay, but that hasn't been too much of an issue.

Hands Down ... the BEST AirPlay Speaker!

The Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air is hands down ... the BEST AirPlay speaker. It is also a great "entry" level product for premium audio from one of the industry's leaders. You'll get audiophile DACS, dual Flowports (distortion free bass), and Nautilus Tube tweeters. Each of these are features on B&W's high end / premium home audio systems. The soundstage on this speaker is amazing ... and it will get L O U D ... dual tweeters, dual mid ranges, and a dedicated subwoofer (all of them "real" speakers ... not some waveguide technology, etc.). I also have the A7 which has a larger subwoofer - that thing thumps as well. In summary - if you've tried other AirPlay docks and been disappointed ... you should make an investment in this B&W product.

For anyone who thinks anything Bose produces will compare stop right there. The bass and treble are stunning and the air play set up is so easy the 70 year old customers who don't know what wifi is could set it up. B&W just get sound plain and simple.

    Great Docking Station Only!!!

Sounds great, but if you buy this product for its WiFi feature, don't waste your money. I read every manual, looked at videos and talked to tech support, but couldn't get the WiFi signal to hold. I returned the first one and bought another one. Same problems. I called a really high-end audio store and they told me they couldn't get the one on display in their store to work properly. I returned the second one and bought a Bose SoundDock10 for the same price and the Bluetooth attachment for $100 extra. The Bose has better lows and the Bluetooth and is more stable and works every time!!! Don't waste you money on this product until they get it right,
