I can't say much about ink. Ink is ink. Brother wants you to use their ink cartridges in their printers. To get the best print and trouble free printing, I have to believe that it is better to buy and install the manufacturer's cartridges. The only thing I.have a problem with, is that to much ink is being wasted away by needless head cleaning AFTER every "single paper" print that I make. That is after I pause and change a paper and then print a again. The machines should have a timer period to allow me to change an original or a setting before doing the next print. ...But no... I press start and it goes into a cleaning mode again.
