The low price made this a perfect gift for a family on a budget. We received it much earlier than expected also. She loved the gift and we were able to start her on a series of an older show that a lot of kids her age have not been seen (late teens).

Buffy is a strong female character. She's a courageous role model for young girls, despite the fact that she's "watched" by a man and that Joss Whedon later makes her lose weight. The series takes place after the Kristy Swanson movie - although a great movie, you definitely don't have to watch it to enjoy the series. It's so cute to see the cast so young. This season has more stand alone episodes, dealing with a She-Mantis, a demonic Internet stalker, and demonic hyenas. Buffy's big bad of the season is The Master. And since this is the first season, the action is a little weak (only in comparison to the upcoming seasons). Sarah Michelle Gellar spent a lot of time training for Buffy, which is evident by season two. However, Willow's acting never improves.

This was one of the greatest non main stream shows on TV. but to fully understand it you have to start with the Kristy Swanson Movie first as this picks up where that one left off. I feel the Joss Wheldon did a great job with the show and the acting is fantastic. This is a must have for anyone.

EVEN THOUGHT IT'S THE FIRST SEASON, IT'S A GOOD ONE!!!!!!!!! THE EPISODES ARE GREAT, AND IT'S A GOOD INTRO TO BUFFY'S LIFE!!! BUT MY FAVORITE EPISODE IS NIGHTMARES, WHERE BUFFY AND THE STUDENTS OF SUNNYDALE H.S. NIGHTMARES COME 2 LIFE. BUT BUFFY'S NIGHTMARE IS THAT THE MASTER TURNS INTO A VAMPIRE. IT'S GREAT!!!!

This is a really good season because you meet all the characters except Spike and Oz. Xander is very funny in this one, with his crush on Buffy.
