Heats well but the massager don’t really do much good.

I got this massaging heating pad because as someone with perpetually achy lower back perhaps due to poor posture, I felt I needed something that will help alleviate some pain. I have a back massager that has a shiatsu thing that I use occasionally but I think I needed something with heat. I like that this is so simple to use, just plug and 'play'. I followed the Pro tip written on the card that it came with to optimize the power of the clay beads - I folded the unit in half and ran the heating pad on the high setting for 2 minutes before each use. I normally adjust the heat to medium as I find the high is too hot for me, but once in a while I set it on high when I'm lying on my stomach. Since this is a weighted pad, it kind of hugs my body and the heat is so relaxing! As for the massage feature, there are no balls that will move around the pad like the shiatsu massager I have. This is more like a vibration type of massage. I switch between the 3 massage levels depending on my needs. The sound of the vibration is noticeable at all levels, obviously it is more prominent at the highest setting. I also use this heating pad while sitting on my desk chair at work. There is no option to attach this heating onto something so I always have to adjust it on my back while on a sitting position. I don't really mind as I can quickly place the unit in another part of my back that needed relief. I found that using this heating pad on my back for about a week, I noticed that my back ache has been greatly reduced. For this benefit, I highly recommend this for those looking for a simple to operate, easy to use and portable massaging heating pad.

This heating pad has been such a great upgrade from our household's basic heating pad from yesteryear. The size of this heating pad is bigger than most and I’d say is the perfect size, and is incredibly soft! However, I think my favorite feature of this heating pad is the fact that it is weighted with the clay beads inside. It makes such a big difference compared to a traditional heating pad where you have to keep pressure on it to be able to feel the heat. This just keeps the pressure on its own and it is the perfect amount of pressure. This is perfect for abdominal pain and cramps, it feels so nice just laying across the abdomen area before bed. I also like the tip I saw about “pre-heating” the clay beads before use. I leave it folded with the heat on high for a few minutes and the beaded areas are nice and warm. The directions say to not lay on the heating pad, and to only lay it on your body, I wish I could lay on it without having to worry about breaking it because it would feel great on the upper back, neck, and shoulders. I just kind of wear the heating pad like a shawl for that area and it seems to work okay. Obviously an added bonus of this weighted heating pad is the fact that it is massaging as well, however I was expecting to like the massaging feature more than I do. I have noticed that it is loud and there is a distinct rattle noise and it only goes away if I push on one or both of the massaging units in the pad. It is okay if I can comfortably keep pressure on the massaging units with my hands or arms, but if trying to use this heating pad hands free, you will just have to deal with the rattle of the massagers or only use the heat function. Overall this modern heating pad has been a treat to use so far and I know it will get frequent use in our household that always seems to have aches and pains. I highly recommend this weighted and massaging heating pad to anyone in the market for one.

It seems sturdy and well built. I like that it is compact enough, that you can apply heat and massage right where you need it. It is not a full blanket that will cause you to overheat. It is not a giant bulky full length massage pad that is cumbersome to use / store. In other words, it is just right. PRO’s - Well Built - Easy Controls - Gets Nice and Hot - Auto Shut Off SUMMARY The CALMING HEAT - MASSAGING WEIGHTED HEATING PAD was easy and intuitive to use. Because of the bulk (height) of the massaging motors, you have to give some thought as to how best to position the pad to achieve maximum effect, without having the motors press in a painful way. For example, if you want to do your back you have to lay on your stomach, you can’t lay on your back otherwise the motors are too hard. The CALMING HEAT - MASSAGING WEIGHTED HEATING PAD heats up quickly and the motors are just strong enough without being too strong. They can get a little loud at full strength, but that is to be expected and they work well. I do recommend the CALMING HEAT - MASSAGING WEIGHTED HEATING PAD for localize heat and massage.
