Excellent prime lens. It has become my favourite "go-to" lens in my collection. Light weight, extremely sharp pictures and sturdy -- it has been in some rough cramped situations like slot canyons interiors!

An upgrade from a kit lens on a Canon DSLR. I had wanted this Nifty Fifty lens for a while. It provides great depth of field and excellent in low light too. Recommend for portraits. All for a great entry level price point for fixed lenses.

I was debating which prime lense to buy as my first upgrade and I couldn't be happier. The bokeh this lense provides is absolutely amazing. If you're looking for image quality I would recommend staying around f/3.0 or higher. The 1.8 to 3.0 gends to be a little less sharp, but works great in low light.

After shooting on my kit lens (18-55mm) for such a long time, I finally got my hands on this 50mm lens. This is a great lens to upgrade to from the kit lens without breaking your bank account. It takes a little bit of time to get used to it but before you know it, it'll be your walk around lens until your next upgrade.

The lens is great for creating that bokeh effect or blurry background. The downside is that you can't zoom in or out so it gets annoying having to move around a lot but the lens is mainly designed for that blurry background setting so for its purpose its great. Also, very economic so it a definite must buy.

This is my first lens apart from the kit lens that came with the camera. I love it. The aperture goes down to f1.8, so you can shoot in lower light and you can do really nice shallow depth of field photos with some nice bokeh effect. I'm very happy with it.

When buying this lens I was wondering if I really needed it or would use it. But the manager explained how better quality picture it offers vs the standard lens that comes with the camera. It makes the difference in low lighting rooms and places. Can't even tell because it brightens everything instantly

Works well, I expewcted it to be noisy based on other reviews but was nearly silent when I used it. It focus searches a little when attached to extension tubes (copying old negatives), but it gets there. A sharp lens.

This is a great first prime lens I bought to use with my 6D. The pictures come out great and this is a great lens to learn on. The prime focal length is great for walking around letting you focus on exposures and lighting. This lens is almost always attached to my camera as it is very light and versatile. I love the 50mm STM.

This is one of my favorite lenses, especially in food photography. I love the warm bokeh effect, the focus and that it can be used in low light situations. My first 50 was dropped, and bought another 50 within days.

My old 50mm 1.8 died. The focus ring and all. Won a 50mm 1.4 and almost talked myself out of replacing the 1.8. So glad that I didn't. This lens may be small but it's mighty. It's DEFINITELY one to have in your bag for great images.

Great all around lens for sharp pictures. Very compact and easy to stowaway in just about any camera bag. This lens should cost more than it does and because it is so cheap it is a must have in any camera bag

If you are looking for the background to be blurry and only you to be in focus, movie quality effects, well this lense is for you. You can also get the aperture really low which is great for streaming or making YouTube videos in your room.

I'm using this 50mm STM lens with Canon 70D and it is an excellent lens, especially for the price. It focuses almost instantly and very quietly. It gives sharp images at f1.8 to f11 or so, and then gets a bit soft as all lenses on this type of camera do due to diffraction. If you haven't used an f1.8 lens before, be prepared to learn how to focus precisely on your intended subject because depth of field at 1.8 is razor thin, meaning objects even slightly closer or farther than the focus point will begin to blur. Not great for group people shots, but is great for isolating your subject and making it "pop". The lens body is mostly plastic, but it doesn't feel cheap and flimsy like it's predecessor did. I also have the Nikon f1.8 at almost twice the cost, and the Canon is equal in image quality in my opinion. Now if Canon would only include lens hoods with their lenses...

I love this lens. Super nice and small. Not heavy. Very good product for its price. It does the job. I am thinking of buying another one for my father who’s into photography too. It’s worth every penny. Thank you BestBuy.
