A fast and a silent 50 mm lens!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a little wonder! Great quality, silent operation and vivid pictures. I had the previous 50 mm lens f/1.8 but was very noisy and slow to focus. This has a significantly faster auto focus and its so smooth when focusing! I can't describe how happy I am with this lens. It definitely has a very high quality/cost ratio. I would definitely recommend this product for everyone as their default 50 mm lens. Also, recommend a protective UV lens filter. Very minimal additional cost but will help protect the lens. Also very happy with my purchase through Best Buy...

Great lens for the price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this lens to use with my Canon 7D. I needed a lens with a much lower f-stop than a f-4.0 so I grabbed this lens because it was within my price range and I'm satisfied with my purchase. The only con to this lens so far is that there is no image stabilization so moving and filming may be shaky without a proper stabilizer. Other then that it's a great lens for the price.

Love this lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this lens to take pictures of my new grand child and it does a wonderful job of taking clear pictures with a slightly blurred background! I wish I had this years ago!

Crispy for the price point
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Crispy images even in a lower light with this lens. If I had the money I'd go all out and get the 1.2 of course, but in a pinch this has done so well and I am proud to show others my photos and even sell them when they are taken with this. Would buy again over and over, never buying the 1.2 unless I truly needed that extra bokeh.

Well Made Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens is well made. It take nice, clear pictures. The f1.8 aperture allows you to take pictures with out of focus backgrounds to help draw attention to your subject; much better than any kit lens.

Good ol' nifty fifty
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The nifty fifty. Excellent quality as expected. Mounted on a SL2. Metal mount. Does require a bit of moving around to capture, and a bit of learning for beginners. Does great with night shots. Someone mentioned if you turn it around and hold it to the body, you can use it as a macro lens. Have not tried it yet, nice idea if it works. No stabilization, recommend timer and tripod for darker shots. Bokeh effect, NICE.

Best lens in this price range!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is, without a doubt, the single best lens you can buy for under $150. It captures images so crisp and clear, and the focusing is really really fast and accurate. I would suggest this as a first lens if you are buying a camera body without a kit lens. Being 50mm, the bokeh on this lens is so beautiful and soft, it makes your subjects stand out perfectly. Check out my Instagram to see examples of photos I’ve taken with this lens @jperez.jpg

Best lens to get for a beginner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first lens you should buy after your kit lens. It will be able to give you that special “look” that you can’t get from your phone or the kit lens. Bokeh or the blurry background effect is what I’m talking about. This lens is awesome, quiet, fast, and creates a great image. Do not buy one of those expensive af lenses until you buy this one and master it. Zoom is overrated and it’s a gimmick to sell you something you’ll never use. You will however take portraits of people with this lens. Get it. Enjoy it. Laugh at the “Johnson’s” for spending thousands on an “L” lens that you take better pictures than with this lens.

Cheap and cheerful
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pop this on my 5D when I go on wee walks around the neighbourhood. It's tiny, fast, light, and great for capturing random moments in a variety of conditions. Sure, it's not a nature photographer's first choice but it's so light which makes hiking around the hills easy. There are a lot of reviews out there written by people way more qualified than I am, but from this amateur's perspective, you can't beat this lens at the price. Yeah, it's made of plastic and feels cheap, but that is not reflected in the lens performance.
