Excellent Fixed Focus
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Canon's 50mm EF 1.8 offers excellent DOF and is an all-around great lens for the artist in each of us. Versatile with video and still captures. One of my favorite lenses for my 5D Mark III!

Cheap and cheerful
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pop this on my 5D when I go on wee walks around the neighbourhood. It's tiny, fast, light, and great for capturing random moments in a variety of conditions. Sure, it's not a nature photographer's first choice but it's so light which makes hiking around the hills easy. There are a lot of reviews out there written by people way more qualified than I am, but from this amateur's perspective, you can't beat this lens at the price. Yeah, it's made of plastic and feels cheap, but that is not reflected in the lens performance.

Great non kit lens!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been interested in getting a 50mm lens for some time I was told the f 1.4 is the ultimate lens but is also more than double in price. For someone who is a beginner at photography but wants to branch out to get those gorgeous bokeh photos THIS is the LENS! I was so extremely happy with the first few photos I took with this lens, it really gives you the more professional feel in the photo. It is now my favorite lens. I never take it off my camera. For the price and the quality I would definitely tell someone to invest in this lens!

A must have for beginners and pros alike.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Known by pro as the nifty 50 and the plastic fantastic, this is widely revered as the first lens to buy after you get your DSLR. I have the Canon SL1 (100D), which is a crop sensor...which magnifies the lens to about 85mm equivalent. Perfect for getting in close. The 1.8 aperture is perfect for bokeh. There really is nothing negative I can say about this one. 10/10

Excellent and cost effective prime lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent prime lens which is reasonably priced. Google Christopher Frost on YouTube. He provides excellent camera lens reviews for canon bodies. Christopher Frost's review of this lens is the main reason I purchased it. This lens is much better than the standard Canon 18-55mm STM kit lens. You can't beat an aperture of f1.8 in low light environments.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the first lens I brought for my Canon 6D and it the quality is great. This is a perfect Prime to start off with and it’s really good for the price.

Great lens! Great price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this lens because it was inexpensive, and also because I wanted to use the 1.8 f stop for blurry background and narrow focal range. It's great for that, great in low light. The only thing I dont like is that it zooms in a bunch on a crop sensor DSLR like my camera. I knew this though. It us a great addition to my camera bag anyways. Love it. And it will be even better on the full frame camera I plan to buy one day! Anyone looking at this lens for a crop sensor camera be aware it will be zoomed in a bunch like 80mm ish.
