This is a lens that everyone needs in their camera bag, beginner or not. I've had both the stm and the non stm version, and this one (stm) improves on the original. The autofocus seems to be a bit snappier and the image quality seems slightly better. It looks great on a 6D. You can't go wrong with a 50mm on a cropped or full frame sensor.

I needed something in a pinch when my 18-55mm finally died. While I was used to the focus length of the other, this did take some getting used to not being able to focus in the range that I wanted. But, that being said, I'm not at all disappointed in this lens. I fully plan to purchase a new 18-55 and this will still remain in my arsenal.

I like it for the aperture, I can get close with a real short depth of field for those nice blurry backgrounds.

Got this lens when I purchased the Rebel T7. This is such an inexpensive lens compared to other lenses and a good quality! I only take photos of my family and friends, so this works perfectly for me.

I have used this lens for multiple indoor sporting events (Basketball and Track) and it works great. However, it is meant more for portraiture rather than sports, as the servo auto focus is a little slow. Great value nonetheless. Highly recommend for anyone just getting into photography looking for a cheap, fast lens.

Very good lens for this price. The sweet spot is around f/4-5.6. With f.8 don't expect it to be super sharp, but pretty decent. This is a Full Frame lens, but can be used with APS-C cameras accepting full frame lenses, although it will become 80mm lens because of the 1.6 crop factor.
