Great starter lens!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great starter lens! Not a macro lens so you can only get so close to a subject and in order to get wider angles, you have to be very far away. Those are about the only downfalls but it is amazing for portraits!

The 'Nifty Fifty' a must have!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a sharp image & background blur you will love this lens. It's a great addition to my Cannon M50 and I love using it for portraits and low light. I scored this awesome lens on sale but even at the regular price it's worth getting; I love it that much.

Great lens!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first prime lens when I wanted to step away from the kit lens, and I am very happy with it. The only thing to understand is the crop factor with APS-C sensors. So, this is more like a 80mm lens on that kind of camera.

Excellent Portrait Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the must have lenses. Picture quality is sharp and it produces great Bokeh. I mostly use it for Portrait and it never disappoints me. For best results use focal length 2.8mm and Higher. Images are soft at 1.8mm and you may have focus issues. I use software DPP 4.0 from canon to correct the lens anomalies if any and it does a great job.

Best 1st Lens Purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read several articles that talked about this is by far the best 1st lens purchase to make after you get your DSLR - and they are SO right. I went a couple weeks with just the Kit Lens, and once I got to see the quality of this one, I was blown away! Not good for close quarters, but if you have a little space, be prepared for AMAZING pictures!

Great in low light conditions.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this lens for my daughter, a sophomore in high school, she is very interested in photography. She is trying her best to take pictures of the milky way. She has been getting some great results - the only difficulty with this lens or any lens for that matter, is getting the focus down when it's pitch black and trying to get a sharp picture of the stars.

Amazing beginner prime lens! Amazing price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this prime lens since I saw so many reviews saying it was a good prime lens to start with! I have an APS-C sensor camera so the 50mm actually shoots like if it was an 85mm. I use this lens as my primary lens now as I mainly do portrait photography and I would recommend it to anybody who wants a great prime lens for a low price!

Great lens for the right application
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a small, light lens to use with my Canon T4i while traveling abroad. The lens build quality is fine and focusing seems fast and accurate. The bokeh is excellent. Overall, this lens is a great value. Pros: Small, light, cheap. Filters (49mm) are cheap. Outstanding lens for portraits. Cons: Field of view on an APS-C camera is a little tight.

A must have for every photographer's arsenal
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You simply can't go wrong with a Canon "nifty fifty." I've used clones from other manufacturers, but they never come close to quality and build of Canon. A must have for every photographer's arsenal.

Great prime for this price!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At $125 for an f/1.8 prime lens you can't go wrong. I was struggling to decide between this and the f/1.4, but at 3x the cost I couldn't justify the upgrade. The build quality is on par with what you're paying for it, the only metal to be found is the mount but that keeps the weight low.

Game changer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My bf got this lens because he wanted to take more portraits and we've gotten nothing but positive reviews. The pictures turn out perfectly in focus with beautiful fading of the background. Would recommend for everyone!!!
