Great starter lens to make you look professional
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a definite must have for your bag. It is great for portrait shots! At first it feels weird because its so zoomed in, but just know this isn't meant to replace your kit lens, just something you use to make some of your photos look great!

Everyone needs this....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doesn't matter what level of.a photographer you are... you need to have one of these. It's a good all around lens... with a wide aperture. Might be a little tight field of view on a crop sensor camera... but for a little over $100 you need to have one in your kit.

The most versatile non-kit lens for Canon
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens is phenomenal when youre learning to shoot and dont need/want the complexity of a zoom lens. It has amazing power for its size and price.

Beautiful color from a 50mm fixed lense.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am impressed with this lense! It was worth every penny. However, first consider what you want to use it for. Because it is a fixed lense, it does not zoom. You'll have to be Fred Flintstone and use your feet. The color is very rich, and the results in low light are amazing.

A Must Have
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great little lense for working wedding receptions and similar venues. A 50 mm is great staple to have in your kit and gives a nice shallow depth of field.

Love the "Nifty 50"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm surprised that Canon offers a fast f1.8 lens in this price range. This is my go to lens when I need to create video with a person on camera. Works beautifully with my 5d Mark II for interview videos, explainer videos, testimonials, even B-Roll shots.

A necessity
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The “nifty fifty” is really just a great do it all type of lens. I have a DSLR just for family pictures and I always get great shots of my kids with this. It’s barely left my camera since I bought it.

You Get What you Pay For, Sometimes A Little Extra
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first prime lens, and while it may not feel like a Sigma Art lens in your hand it's astonishing for the value. Picture quality is quite nice for the money.

Great Lens for Beginner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was recommended this lens and the 24MM 2.8 by a photographer, and the quality of my novice photos has improved drastically. Canon should include these lenses in their kits and leave the zoom lenses for add on purchases later.

Best value for money!
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first prime lens. I use it only cropped sensor camera, so 50mm is is more like a 75mm. But the pictures are crisp and beautiful, also great in low light.

A must have for your bag!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a must have lens for your bag. Definitely an upgrade compared with the kit lens. On a half sensor you must adjust your distance, but the quality is great especially paired with a filter lens.
