On Canon DSLRs with cropped sensors the focal length is effectively 80-85+/-. This isn't a prime lens, but for the $$ it is a total no brainer.

Amazing lens for the price.

Favorite Lens

Great lense for low lighting and quick photos.

It takes great low light pictures, focuses fast, is quiet,and good construction. We haven't taken it off of the camera since purchase. Great for kids photos.

You get an amazing f1.8 which is super for low light captures and, in addition, you get a wonderful bokeh.
