    I have the battery from when I puchased this camera, but I always like to have a backup. These batteries have a great lifespan and they are compact and come with a little plastic protector piece.

    After reading reviews about generic brand batteries, I decided you get what you pay for. I would rather have the OEM battery and not risk having a problem when I am trying to capture a photo.

    I bought this LP-E12 rechargeable battery for my Canon EOS M50. I needed this spare battery for video recording. I tested the battery life and I was able to record about 2 hours and 21 minutes straight of 1080p / 60fps worth of video. However, if I tried to record at 4K, the battery life is severely drained about an hour or so. The higher the recording resolution, the faster the battery drains. I recommend to price match this battery - I was able to get this battery for $50.

    Mirrorless cameras are less clunky than DSLRs, but shorter battery running times are a disadvantage. But taking one or two charged spares along ameliorates that quite well.
