Not a True 4K UHD Release

Marvel Studios has started re-releasing their previous films on the new 4K UHD format, but unfortunately they are doing it in a lackluster way. This film was shot on digital, so it does not achieve the native 4K video quality that true 4K films can. This is an upscale of the 1080p blu ray, so buyers should be aware of this going in. Also, there are no new special features. This is essentially just a repackaging of the original release. So unless you’re a 4K completionist, I think you’ll be safe passing on this one if you already have the regular blu ray. If you really want it, I might recommend waiting until it goes on sale.

This movie is excellent. I tend to like the more story heavy, more serious Marvel movies. This is one of them and I really enjoyed it. One of my favorite MCU movies and would highly recommend people watch it. Only downside is that it's not a very good standalone movie, but, then again, it's not supposed to be. Still, I really like it.

Captain America Winter Soldier is so far my second favorite MCU movie after Avengers Infinity War. ...so far. And now we get a new release in a steelbook format. Everything about it is awsome. The front and back covers, the inside covers and the 4k & blu ray disc art, a must have even if you already own different versions of the movie.

This is the best of the 3 MCU Captain America movies. Comes across like an old school suspenseful drama with plenty of action for comic book lovers

The Story of Cap and Buckey continues in this film as Captain America learns his best friend is still alive as a brainwashed assassin for HYDRA. This movie is a must see because not only does it set up the next Captain America, it is the beginning of the end of the love hate between Iron Man and Captain America

The BEST Marvel Studios since The Avengers

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is not only a great sequel but perhaps the best standalone Marvel Studios film to date. Trust me, I don't say that lightly. I wasn't overly fond of the Captain's first feature, and my reaction to most of the Marvel Studios films has been mixed. With that in mind, coming out of the theater I have to say 'The Winter Soldier' isn't only a great superhero movie, a great standalone Marvel Studios film, but that Captain America: The Winter Soldier may even be better than The Avengers! At the start of the film Steve Rogers (AKA Captain America) is still acclimating to modern life after having been frozen since WWII, and is working under the orders of Nick Fury and SHIELD. Already having doubts about SHIELD's motives and methods Rogers suddenly finds himself at the center of a conflict festering at the heart of SHIELD and must fight alongside other agents to stop a villainous plot to establish a new world order. Along the way he'll have to face a dark figure which may be connected to his past and decide what freedom truly stands for. The Winter Soldier is arguably the smartest Marvel Studios film to date. While still providing the fantastical set-pieces, humor, and over the top action spectacles one would expect from a Marvel film The Winter Soldier's antagonist is grounded in real-world fears, and possibilities. For this reason I felt more invested in the film's action than any other Marvel film to date. While movies like The Avengers and the first Iron Man were fun superhero romps The Winter Soldier actually feels like it is addressing real-world concerns regarding government secrecy and drone warfare in a way which made me feel invested in the characters, and the stakes they were up against. The decision to make it an internal, spy-movie type struggle also quelled any questions like "Where the rest of The Avengers?!" While that constantly bothered me in Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 I never asked that during The Winter Soldier because the nature of the villain makes it believable that most of the film's events are covered up and kept from the other heroes' knowledge. Then there's Rogers himself who truly defines himself as a superhero in this film. In his first outing and The Avengers Captain America always seemed like a wet blanket, coming across as a giant flag draped Boy Scout. While he was likable enough he never warranted in-depth analysis. That all changes in The Winter Soldier. Here Rogers' reflects on his past, question his own values and whether or not he can uphold them in this cloak and dagger modern world. He is a fish out of water and he knows it. His commitment to remain true to the values that carried him through WWII becomes his character's greatest strength rather than holding his character back. Through clever writing, and tender character moments The Winter Soldier transformed Steve Rogers into quite possibly my favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (sorry Tony Stark). What ultimately sets the Captain's new adventure apart from other Marvel Studios films is that The Winter Soldier is the first standalone Marvel movie since the original Iron Man I've felt actually stood proud on its own two feet. It features everything we know and love about this universe without feeling burdened by references other Marvel Studios films. While Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World had me saying "Can't wait to see the next Avengers" The Winter Soldier had me leaving the theater saying: "I can't wait to see the next /Captain America/ movie!" For this reason I am giving my full recommendation for Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is easily top 5 Marvel MCU films and a lot of people have it as their number 1 because it is that good! This movie is soooo good that even if you took out Captain America and all the superhero aspects of it, this would still be a REALLY GOOD action movie! I rest my case here.

This is the best CA movie and routinely competes for my favorite marvel movie. Love the action, the effects, the writing, and all the kicking. I love CA when I was a kid and this entry reminded me of all the reasons that I love him. I also get chills at the first appearance of the Winter Soldier

Absolutely love this movie. Different in tone that some of the other Marvel movies, but definitely one of their best. They took a turn showing more of espionage and thriller kind of movie. As always Captain America, Chris Evans did a tremendous job. Great acting, great storyline. Highly recommend.

Picked up Winter Soldier on 4k so I could watch arguably the MCU's best movie with the best possible picture. It looks great. It's of course upconverted not shot in 4k so it doesn't look as good as true 4k movies. Still the best it's gonna look & sound. Steelbook packaging looks great too.

One of my top 5 MCU movies and the best of the Cap trilogy..two thumb's up! The 4k version is nice, but 3d is a much better immersive experience. The steelbook looks great and with the addition of a adhesive disc hub allows the 3d version to be added and makes for a awesome combo set.

The transfer between the Blu-Ray and 4K is pretty significant. The film looked a bit flat on Blu-Ray, but this transfer makes the film look much more vibrant. Also helps that the steelbook is awesome, and goes great with the First Avenger and Civil War packages.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the most unique MCU movies in its smaller scale, but it is also one of the most acclaimed, for good reason. And, the steelbook looks great as well. Love the matching borders on these subsets of Marvel movies.

Best Buy does a fantastic job with these steelbooks, and when the best movie of the MCU came out in Ultra HD I could not pass it up. It looks amazing, stunning visuals and crisp fight scenes-the elevator fight scene is one to watch multiple times. Well done

All three of the Captain America UHD releases are significant upgrades from the bluray counterparts. HDR adds a nice boost to the color, and even though Disney's atmos tracks are among the worst on the format, they're still quite immersive here. Recommended.

Got this for two reasons: 1. The fight scenes (makes your head spin, at least for me haha) 2. Story (it didn't feel like a superhero movie to me. It was like Mission: Impossible but with people with extraordinary strengths) That's all. No regrets. ☺

Personally, this is my favorite MCU movie of all. It made Captain America cool and was such a well done movie that changed so much of the MCU after this. This 4K version is a big upgrade from the Blu-ray in both picture and sound. I highly recommend it.

Too bad there is DNR on faces and they look real off on these 4K transfers of all these Cap movies. 4K transfers are nice but not a huge update over the blurays. Mainly a 5 because I'm a huge fan of the trilogy and they're the best out of the MCU..

Just like with the Avengers I already own this on 3D and I feel it is the superior release after watching both. I will probably mostly watch the 3D version but I’m not underwhelmed by the 4K trasnfer. Can’t wait for iron man and Thor to get 4K steels
