It has been years since I've seen a new release by any member of the Eagles. This album was worth waiting for! I hope some of the other members get the hint and release something too.

A couple of good, long time Eagles and Don Henley solo fans/friends of mine said they purchased the CD but were still adjusting to the country theme and feel of the album finding it different than they had expected. I responded... Henley's new CD; I approached it as it was heavily described down here in L.A. as his tribute to his hometown county and country themed, so I rather expected it. Remember, when he did his first solo albums how we thought "Dirty Laundry" (media commentary) or "All She Wants to do is Dance" (U.S. involvement in Central America/political)... "Now that's quite a bit of a departure from The Eagles!"; so I went into this one expecting something different. Knowing Don has a lot to do with the Country Rock aspect of the Eagles since Glen is the Detroit influence on the band, it was not illogical to expect the country theme of this collection. The artists he has chosen to partner with on this project all fit the songs they were asked to perform on but with tongue planted firmly in cheek; we all know the stories of Stevie Nicks and Patti Smythe that when working duets with Don - he was a taskmaster and some songs took months and numerous "takes" to complete because he is a perfectionist. So we should therefore be happy this is out now instead of in five years! Play it twice and you will get it and unlike today's "A.D.D." generation; please read the lyrics booklet! Thanks for the new album, Don!

    Don Henley goes back

Here Henley goes back to his Texas country roots with a powerful and emotional performance. Its kind of what the Eagles would have become if Gram Parsons had joined the band. A look at life from the front seat of a pickup driving through a small Texas town. Songs about waiting tables, praying for rain, and that old flame ( all song titles). A great mix of guests include Mick Jagger, Miranda Lambert, Merle Haggard, and Vince Gill - and thats just on the first three tracks. Jagger does a dynamite harmonica solo on Bramble Rose. And where did Don find Steuart Smith, great guitar work. The deluxe version is well worth the extra $ for 5 more tracks. Highly recommended to any Eagles fan or anyone interested in modern country and rock n roll.

Don"s new album is great if you like country music. Yes, the Eagles have their country influence but their genre is country rock. Don Henley"s album is much more traditional country music. This is his return to his country roots. The duets are great except for the one with Mick Jagger. I am a Stones fan but Mick and Don do not blend well together. But every other track on this CD is great.

This cd may be a little too country Americana for some folks but you can still hear a lot of the Eagles' trademark sounds and rhythms in some of his selections. The contributions by most of the guest singers were positive and interesting. A few of the songs were a little too repetitive of things we've heard before, but I would definitely recommend this to Eagles or Don Henley fans.

Don Henley has been a recognized singer-songwriter as a member of the Eagles and he has had a long career as a solo performer. He has compiled a collection of songs that kick up the dust and show his roots. He Is not afraid to share the spotlight with his guests. His music sounds as fresh as it did decades ago!

Don Henley returns to both his and the early Eagles' country roots in this solo effort featuring many guest artists. He presents an interesting choice of country songs backed by excellent musicians. This is another reason why he is a major contributor to the Eagles as well as an excellent musician.

many surprise guests sing along on most of the songs with Henley. His lyrics are as relevant as ever and the music behind them peaks out some old eagle riffs. I believe this is going to be a number one seller and I would recommend its purchase or down load to any Eagles or country western fan

I was suprised with the sound from the disk. Don did a great job on vocals and the music was spot on. If you're looking for an upbeat eagles cd, this isn't it. The tempo is pretty low key, but as I said ,he did a good job putting it all together. This is a perfect cd to sit and unwind to.

Bought this as a gift for my father. He is a huge fan of The Eagles. He was surprised by the style of music on this CD, but enjoyed it nonetheless. It harkens back to The Eagles roots.

I thought the album was all country music when I purchased it but there were several songs that were not. I enjoyed Don Henley and all of the other talented singers who cut the album.

Although I love Don Henley. I cannot say that I think this was one of his best pieces of work. It was nice to hear him in duets with some of these other great artist.

Compared to the energy of the Eagles, this is a very laid back Henley. Back to his roots and very relaxed. Still an amazing wordsmith...just a different genre.

Got this for my dad for his birthday (he's a huge Eagles fan). I listened to it with him outside while doing some yard work. My dad loved it! This is a country album with some pretty cool guest appearances. Check it out!

This is yet another Don Henley snooze fest. He could have thrown in a few numbers that really kicked some butt and upped the excitement level to out-of-the-coma, but instead what we have here is something safe, completely lacking in adventure, something all his geriatric Eagles fans can play endlessly in the background while doing other things that require their attention. This is Tequila Sunrise, Desperado, End of The Innocence territory. No, it's Hole in The World territory. There is nothing even close to Life In The Fast Lane, Those Shoes or Dirty Laundry. I guess country music, according to Don Henley and Stand Lynch, is meant to be safe, predictable, perfectly played, and sung with the emotion of heavily medicated asthma sufferer. It's bad enough that most of today's country music sounds like really bad rock music. But now we have a seasoned "country rock" superstar, arguably one of the all-time great voices of popular music, further proving that modern country music is garbage, even when it's created by someone who is supposedly an outsider.

Great CD. Don Henley is one of my all time favorite artists going back to the Eagles and solo projects. I actually saw him at Austin City Live in Austin Texas, where he sang all the songs on this CD for a Sirius XM event.

This album reminds me so much of the early Eagles albums, like Desperado. I guess because of Henley's great voice and the ballad feel of this album. This is a must have for all Eagles fans for their collections.
