I bought this item to offset the monthly price of renting a modem from CentryLink. It was simple and quick to setup and so far has been problem-free.

Let me start by stating that I spent less than this for a cable modem with WAY more capability when I was able to use Cable for my Internet. Paying this price for 20yr old download capability is pretty ridiculous...however, there are some very nice and recent capabilities built into it as well. The setup was extremely simple and very well done for any level of user. I was able to get my Internet up and running and setup on the DSL line with wireless N covering my whole house in less than 10 minutes. Download speeds top out at the max for my area, which is GREAT. Wireless coverage is able to cover my whole house with at least 4/5 bars of strength. The only issue I have had with it is that when there is heavy downloading (saturating the <sigh> 1.5Mbps download), it will drop the wireless signal no matter where you are in the house. There are several places online that will help you to add a router and switch behind this modem, but be aware that it is not a simple process. This modem does not handle bridging well, as noted on multiple sites. If you want to be able to use more than 4 devices wired, be ready for a few calls to tech support and a couple days of fighting with the settings to make it work. All the negatives aside, this is still a very solid product in a market which doesn't use internet much, and the ease of setup can't be talked about enough.

its the best router that will work on centurylink. it also works well if you do basic internet usage. i am a high usage user and found the modem locked up quiet often and had to be reset. the modem does have a bridge mode and was able to attach a stronger router to it and is working a lot better.

As the only available modem available for Centurylink service, it is working fine. Centurylink provided excellent support during the setup with a Windows 10 problem.

This router replaced one that was hit by lightning. I chose to do it myself and it was up and running in 20 minutes. Super easy install, dont mess with scheduling with Century Link to send someone, just do it yourself.

Directed to Best Buy by CenturyLink for a replacement modem. The modem was easy to set up and easy to configure right out of the box. If you need to upgrade or replace your existing fiber optic modem, this one is is it.

Using Clear wireless Hub, our internet was pretty worthless at 0.23mbps on a good day, usually buffered for 20 minutes when streaming and now that we switched to a deticated phone data line with our modem we are getting a much stronger download speed. 1.09mbps average and as good as 3.59mbps. Not as good as a Comcast connection but we can't get anything except century link. So far no problems or resets needed. Setup was alittle tricky with our iMac. We needed a hardline cat5 cable to connect. But went easy after figuring that out.

This works way better than the one supplied by Centurylink. It covers the same area that my Netgear wireless router covered. No interruptions like the old modem.

It works great, just disappointed that is the only modem that will work with centurylink. I would have rather had a choice between modems.

I BOUGHT THIS TO REPLACE MY OLD MODEM. IT WAS SIMPLY A PLUG AND PLAY SCENARIO, WHICH WAS A LOT EASIER THEN I PLANNED. I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANY CENTURY LINK USER!

Purchased to replace modem/router that constantly had to be reset. Setup was simple (had to call CenturyLink for settings). Works well - I've used for 6 weeks with no problems. Wireless range is more than enough.

The modem/router combo has 4 ports and is easy to setup and use. I no longer have to pay Century Link a monthly rental fee, and this will be paid off in a little over a year. It was very easy to setup and has idiot proof directions (as well as color coded ports). I recommend this to anyone who is currently renting a modem from Century Link.

    Century Link fast DSL modem

I'm not sure that you have many options with Century Link for DSL modems. Several of them, including the 10 year old one that I had, only go to 5MBPS. This one can go up to 40MBPS if you pay for that service and you are in the right service area. I have not had any problems with the modem. I did expect the WiFi signal to go farther than my old modem/wifi router but it does not. I'm not sure of the limitations of WiFi signal strength/distance but you won't get a longer distance with this than an older Actiontec.
