I am in a love/hate relationship with this barbecue.. Seriously, I’m torn between some great features ..and the way it cooks. What I mean is, I bought this barbecue because it is the perfect size and shape for my patio. The fold down side shelves make it ideally compact (while still usable!), and with four wheels instead of two ..it’s easy to roll in any direction. Throw in a temp gage and electronic starter, and a hideaway cabinet for the propane tank ..and you have the perfect barbecue!!! BUT ..there is a major flaw that almost cancels all of that out. Instead of the typical bar type grate to cook food on, this barbecue uses a solid plate with holes in it. The idea is that this helps distribute flame and heat evenly ..and it theoretically works. The shape of the plate even creates grill marks on your food! However, the increased surface area causes the food to stick and ends up making it hard to flip meat without ripping it to shreds. We even tried spraying it with oil first, but it really didn’t help. The other problem is that the holes in the plate don’t allow very good airflow, so when greas starts to drip into the flame below it, smoke builds and begins coming out of every possible place which creates a cloud around the cooking station. The plate just seems to negate the idea of open flame barbecuing, and it almost makes me feel like I’m not REALLY barbecuing at all. I’ve actually considered returning it, but my son keeps pointing out the benefits. So I’m torn. Do I love it? ..yes. Do I hate it? ...yes!

We bought this grill on sale at Best Buy about a month ago. In regards to grilling and cooking meat, this grill does a fantastic job. I think the Infrared technology definitely helps to keep chicken, beef or whatever you are cooking more moist and juicy. It does take a little bit of adjusting to how quickly the grill heats up, but if you are a seasoned grill master or even an amateur like me, this shouldn't be too hard. Caring for the grill is a bit more difficult. You need to take care to season the grates before using it and it's recommended that you do so after cleaning as well. In my experience, you should not use metal wire brushes even if they say they are safe for porcelain. Even though it does not do as good of a job, a nylon brush should be used. Overall, love the grill, but it does require some specific care.

So far so good. The product is living up my expectation. If cooks in about half the time as my old Char Broil grill and the meat is much juicier. Of course you have to be careful not to over cook. One tip for a new user, be sure to thoroughly cover the grill (both sides) with canola oil before using and be sure to let the oil burn off before cooking. This really helps the clean up. After the grill cools I remove and clean the grill grates after each use and have not had any problem with build-up or the grill openings becoming clogged. This maintenance takes maybe five minutes and it keeps the grates clear of build-up.

I have the small portable x200 grill, and absolutely love it. I wanted one with more room so i can cook more food at the same time and got this unit. It works great, and is my main grill on my balcony, but when cooking for 1 or 2, i still prefer the x200. The unit is bigger. and as such more air to warm up. With thick cuts of steak, the time it takes to warm up after opening the grill makes it a bit harder to control. Even with that said , i am all about the infrared grills. no more standard grills for me.

We love this grill and it has worked really well for our family. It seems semi foolproof in grilling a variety of meats, veggies and fruits. It has been easy to clean and maintain so far and made our summer so much more enjoyable.

This is a solid little grill and works well for our needs. It didn’t take me long to assemble and we were eating burgers in no time. It does keep meats juicy as it claims.

This is my second grill like this (1st one was stainless steel). It is a nice size for patios and the TRU-infrared is worth it.

Now that it is just my wife and I, a smaller footprint on our deck made sense. It's a great grill, I have less problem with burning/overcooking, and I have not had a flare-up yet. However, the grates are hard to clean with the supplied tool and a traditional brush, so I have to periodically clean them in the sink. Not big deal, just I don't usually remember until I am trying to cook the next meal and I am in too big a hurry to take the time!

The grill has lived up to its advertisements. The grill cooks meats much quicker than the old style grill and the meat is must juicier and does not have a tendency to taste drier out.. It is somewhat harder to clean than the old type grill but if you follow Char Broils suggestions you will not have any problems.

Great and easy to use. Compact but has a big enough cooking surface to handle a lot. Only quirk is you need a ceramic coated brush to clean grill. Since grill grate has small openings for heat, seam to clog quickly.

We recommend cleaning with a nylon brush and warm soapy water or biodegradable grill cleaner. Seasoning the grates with canola oil will also help to keep food from sticking and prevent rust. Charbroil
