I may need to refine my skills on the sharpener better, but I am having difficulty with short (3 in) paring knives and serrated edge knives.

The knifes never cut better. This puts a 15% edge on the knifes which is better than the 20% that come on American and European Knifes.

But when I used it it was out of balance and the knifes would not smoothly run through it. I ended up returning it for fear that continued use would cause it to fail.

Posted .Chef's Choice M15 has a three year warranty, and we do stand behind our products. The customer who recently purchased a M15, and thought that it might be out of balance should return the sharpener to where they purchased it for a replacement or credit. Also, the customer can always contact Chef's Choice directly for any warranty issue.
