I was skeptical to the purpose of Circadian Optics Lumine Light Therapy lamp, wondering why would I need it here in Southern California. Then I realized that some areas in our home does not have some of the best natural lighting, and this was the best answer to that. I was surprised at how small this lamp is: 7x9.5x2 inches and weighs under 2lbs. All you need to plug it in and press the HOME button at the bottom front. You are immediately greeted with a high and bright white light that resembles the noon-day sun at 5500K. You can press the button for two additional lesser settings before it turns off. After a few weeks of utilizing it for our home family, I’ve come to enjoy this little lamp.
This lamp does add necessary brightness to a few rooms in our home: our home offices where not only my wife but my children have been spending a majority of the daytime in class or working from home. I can tell that my son was having some frustrations in his class because he was feeling tired from the eye-strain of the screen. The lamp appeared to help with his alertness and increased his mood over a 20-30 minute time span.
The Circadian Optics Light Therapy Lamp utilizes UV-Free LED. Again, this is very bright and I placed it in several locations in our home where we have a computer or where we spend the most of our time. During the later afternoon, early evenings, I turned it on after dinner to help simulate the noon-day sun when the fatigue was starting to set in. I can say that it did give us some spark of energy for that 1 hour I had it on. As my kids have been staying home more often because of the pandemic, they haven’t been able to outside during business hours because of so many people and we wanted to maintain social distancing. I’ve felt that this lamp has helped in some way their mood and that light exposure.
Overall, we are really enjoying this device and can’t wait to utilize this during the Fall/Winter times where there is less light in the daytime.

This lamp can be useful, but you need to understand what it does and doesn’t do. It’s not a “smart lamp” that wakes you up with light, but is a manual light that you use to help “wake you up” after waking up. Think of it as another cup of coffee in the morning.
IN THE BOX
Pretty simple, the light which is approximately 8x9 inches and 1.5 inches thick, a power cord, and a small bracket that inserts into the back and acts as the stand.
SETTING UP
While it may not be “smart” it is easy to use and operate. I did have some difficulties fitting the stand into the back of it, there’s not much wiggle room, and I felt like it would break. It seemingly comes out (for storage/transport) but I’m hesitant to take it back out for fear of breaking it.
You simply plug the power cord into the wall and the back of the light, and voila, you’re done.
EASE OF USE
Again, a recurring theme is that this product is dead simple to use. There’s one power button in the front. It looks like it “clicks” in and depresses, but it feels mostly touch sensitive. Nonetheless, it’s extremely responsive. It cycles through 4 settings, bright, less bright, relatively dim, and off. That’s it.
In terms of using it, the instructions say not to stare directly at it (which is nearly impossible, it’s pretty bright) and to keep it 10-18 inches away from your face, directed off to the side.
BENEFITS
I want to pause and mention the instruction booklet. My take, and I may not be entirely correct, is that this light is meant to help wake you up and/or keep you up. The instructions say to use it in the morning for 30 or so minutes at a time (it suggests you start with a less bright setting in the beginning). You’re also directed not to use it 4 hours before bedtime. I haven’t tested if I’m able to fall asleep if I use it 4 hours before bedtime.
MY IMPRESSIONS
This device is extremely hard to evaluate, because while the idea seems practical and logical, it feels like pseudo-science; the idea that light therapy helps you wake up and sleep better. Again, it makes sense. But I have no real way to empirically prove their claims. What I can say is that I use it at my office when I get there in the morning, and after lunch when I feel like I’m ready for a nap. I can’t really say one way or the other if using the lamp for light therapy in the morning helps me sleep, but I can certainly say that it helps keep me awake. Imagine being drowsy in the morning, maybe a bad night’s sleep, I turn the light on off to the side of my desk and I feel more awake. It’s a weird thing to describe other than I’m not yawning. That’s not to say I’m hyper like caffeine, but I do feel rejuvenated. Maybe it’s “light therapy”, maybe it’s just having a somewhat annoying bright light shining near your face.
Whether you believe in light therapy or not, I can say that I use it everyday, and it helps me stay awake. I’m not going to say it makes me smarter or more focused, but it does help rejuvenate, especially after a bad night’s sleep.
CONCLUSION
If you live or work in a dark space, or just lacking in natural light, I would give this light a shot. It certainly “brightens” the room (pun intended) but it does a decent job at mimicking natural sunlight. It creates some interesting commentary from my work colleagues (as they walk by my office with this extremely bright light pointing towards me) but I do genuinely find some utility in using it. And, it looks like an attractive frame when off (an attractive frame with no picture) so it’s not entirely an eyesore when it’s off.

Just what I needed to start my work days

I work in a Science Lab and unfortunately my lab has no windows. At all, not even one of those narrow horizontal windows near the ceiling. When I am home, I generally start my day by sitting near our kitchen window, drinking my coffee, and looking out into the morning. I cannot do this in my lab so I thought one of these lamps might help with giving me at least the light part to help me begin my day.
Controls and setup are relatively simple. You get an ac adapter that has a barrel plug that you attach to the bottom rear part of the light. There is also a plastic ‘stand’ piece you attach to the back of the light to stabilize it on a table. The entire light is fairly small and looks like a picture frame. You have one circular touch button on the front of the light. You can keep tapping it to toggle between 3 intensities of light, and off.
This light gets very, very bright. The instructions recommend that you don’t put it directly in front of you, and I think it would be difficult to even attempt to you use it like this. I have set it to the right of my desk and keep it on the low light setting. This to me has the most comfortable way to use it. I get to my lab around 7am, and immediately turn on my lamp every morning. I feel like the light does help me feel a little better starting my day. Obviously not the same as being able to look out a window, but nice to get that light in my room. I feel like my mood has improved since I have been using this lamp.
This has a very specific use case, but if you are looking for something to simulate sunlight to help you start your morning, then this is a high recommendation. I generally just use it in the morning, but I can see people using this throughout the day to feel more alert or energized.

I received this optics therapy lamp to review.
I have to be honest I wish it was more towards the winter months when we don't get as much sun here.
Pretty simple device really, you have three light settings low, medium and high to choose from.
I started out with low and then to medium, I have not worked my way up to high.
The instructions state you should put this off to one side and I can see why. It can be glaring out of the side of your eyes.
The light feels well built and looks good
This is the first unit of its kind that I’ve used.
I have tested it for about 2 weeks. I probably turn it on for about 15-20 minutes in the morning to start off the work day.
I think I'm getting some benefit from it but I think I'll really know how well it works when I get into the winter blues. Currently we have a lot of sun to enjoy and get the natural benefits from.
I really look forward to using it during those cold, dark winter months.
I would recommend this to anybody that is sitting in a dark office or room for long periods of time and suffer from lack of energy etc.
It would be nice to have a timer built in so it would shut itself off after X amount of time.
Other than that it’s a solid unit and delivers on its intended use.

I have been using the light therapy lamp for a couple of weeks. I really wanted to give it time to see some benefits. I am not noticing much difference. The highest setting is VERY bright. Do not look at the unit directly but especially when on the highest setting.
I do know the science behind light therapy and am a believer I am thinking that the issue is that I would see more benefit in the winter when there is not so much sun naturally.
I am a natural early riser as well. Maybe someone who is not a morning person would get more benefit.

I wanted to try this product to see if I could find myself with more energy throughout the day.
I followed the instructions and used the lamp for 10 minutes each morning for several days in a row.
In my case, the effect was the opposite of what I expected. I do believe my circadian rhythm was adjusted, only I found myself feeling very sleepy throughout the day instead of with more energy.
When I stopped using the lamp, I went back to feeling normal.
This product may be good for someone who is having problems with their sleep pattern, but in my case, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

This is helping to reset my wake up time. It’s easy to use. The only disappointment was there wasn’t an explanation of how to set up the stand. It seemed logical but I was afraid it might break off trying to squeeze in. But it fit!

A Bright Idea to benefit your Health

This little light puts out 10,000 Lumens. To put it into contrast, a 100 watt incandescent bulb produces 1600 Lumens, that's over 6 times as bright. Some police security flashlights are rated as high as 3300 lumens, and we are not even halfway there. So If you like bright lights, this is perfect for you. Although, this light is a therapy light, not a regular room or shop light. It is designed to bring the happiness of the sun indoors. The light expelled from the device is set to mimic the full spectrum pure white light from the sun, minus the harmful UV lights. UV lights can not only damage your skin, but also your eyes. I tested the light with a Blue Light detection device, and no harmful rays were detected. There are three kinds of "Blue Lights"; violet, blue-violet and turquoise. Both violet spectrums are harmful to the eyes, but the turquoise spectrum is considered safe and is the spectrum that helps maintain a healthy sleep cycle.
When the eyes detect this spectrum of light, it stimulates the brain’s hypothalamus region, and biological clock. This influences the circadian rhythm. Circadian rhythm is a natural, internal process that regulates the sleep–wake cycle and repeats roughly every 24 hours.Without the proper stimulus a person's circadian rhythm can be thrown off cycle, making for irregular sleeping habits or a lot of sleepless nights. This light tries to help you regulate your circadian rhythm by giving you control of when you are exposed to the proper lighting. The light does have a dimmer, so if the full 10,000 lumens is too much for you, there are 2 lower settings that appear to be 50% and 25% of power.
After prolonged use of this light, it can not only help with correcting sleep patterns, but can also help with regulating hormones, alertness, reaction times, mood and general behavior. Everything can fall into line with the right patterns in life. Some people even believe these overall health benefits can help stave off illnesses and some diseases.
With most of the world hiding indoors the past year, the lack of sunlight has most definitely affected the mental health and sleep of a lot of individuals. Depression is one of the most common disorders from lack of sleep and proper stimulus. If you are still limiting your outdoor exposure then this could really help a person bounce back.
I can't really attest to the long term effects of this light, as I have only used it for a week. However in the past week, I think I have noticed some more regular effects of the light. Just as a test the first morning I woke up after receiving the light, I turned on the brightest lights I had in the house ( my kitchen has 4- 100 watt bulbs). It woke me up a bit, then I turned on the Circadian Light and instantly I could feel the impact, it is so much like walking outside around noon, except without the heat. I had to turn the light away from my face, as the direct light is just too much for me right now. After a week of daily exposure for about 6 hours a day, I seem to fall asleep at night a little better, and feel more alert in general. so I am eager to see what might happen after a month or more.
The light itself weighs almost nothing. It comes in two pieces, the stand and the light. No tools are required, as the parts just click together. The power cable plugs into the back of the device, and the power button in the front is touch sensitive. Even though it feels light, everything looks well constructed. The bulbs have a 50,000 hour life expectancy, and the unit comes with a 2 year warranty.
Also, just to reiterate, this light does not put out UV rays, so even though it mimics the sunlight to your eyes, it is nothing like sunlight to your skin. Meaning, this is in no way like a tanning light.

Good lamp, VERY bright, could be better

GOOD
- Even, consistent lighting
- Very bright
- Three brightness settings
- Good size
BAD
- VERY bright
- Only three brightness settings, dimmer levels would be nice
- Touch control easy to accidentally press
- Fixed, non-adjustable stand
- Fit and finish could be better
Whether or not light therapy works for you is beside the point of a product review. I can only comment on the Lumine lamp as it functions on its own. And as a lamp, it does a very good job. The light output is very even across the surface. It's very clean and white, and according to the manufacturer is meant to provide 10,000 lux of illumination to simulate a sunny day ( not 10,000 lumen as others incorrectly say ). It's a nice size, not too obtrusive, and has a long 2m power adapter. The power adapter is a typical wall wart, and could be better if it was sized or angled to fit in a standard plug spacing. The frame angles the light back, about 70 degrees from level by my protractor. Subjectively, I like the basic, simple design and color. The touch sensitive button at the bottom is the lone control that cycles the lamp between its three brightness settings and off.
The biggest downside is a side-effect of one of its strengths: the lamp is very, VERY bright at 700 lumen output. For comparison, a 60W equivalent bulb is 800 lumens. That lighting contrast between the lamp and ambient light can be uncomfortable. In a bright, artificially lit room with florescent, tungsten, or other off-white lighting, the Lumine would be a nice pure-white lamp. Using it a dim office is quite harsh, even on the lowest brightness setting. Ironically, those who work in darker areas without any outside, natural light, are likely the ones who would benefit most from a light therapy lamp. If it had additional dimmer settings, or just a bigger output difference between the three existing settings, the lamp would be useful in far more situations.
Other small complaints are that the touch-sensitive button is very easy to accidentally press and the base is a fixed angle. Even with the high light output, if the light was more adjustable in what direction it faced, that would be better. I also found the fit and finish a little lacking for a product costing this much. Attaching the stand base out of the box was rather difficult as the plastic tabs didn't line up as well as they could have.
Overall, it's a solid lamp that performs well, it just might not be exactly what you need for your home and work lighting situation. It also functions well as a low-cost key light for better video quality when recording, streaming, or teleconferencing ( proper mounting and light direction takes some ingenuity ).

I have been using the Circadian Optics Lumine Light Therapy Lamp for just over 2 weeks for the recommended 20 minutes a day. First of all, I will say this lamp is BRIGHT. Like wow. Turns night into day literally. You need to make sure you keep a safe distance as instructed because it is almost blindingly bright.
What I guess you really want to know is does the Circadian Optics light work? Not as in "is it a light" because that's a Yes, but does light therapy work? I do trust science, I have friends in the Nordics who absolutely believe and benefit from it. Personally speaking, I didn't notice any difference in my sleep. I thought I would because I am getting less sunlight, working from home and all.
I have found the Circadian Optics helpful for when I have late night working and need an energy boost. Having a really bright light for 15minutes when working late nights is a pick-me-up. Probably not what Circadian Optics but it's working for me.
Some general notes on usage. The Lumine Lamp needs to be on a desk. The stand is not tilt-adjustable, so the angle is fixed which means you really need to get the location perfect. Again, please make sure you keep it a safe distance from your eyes.
Overall, giving this 3.5/5 but since Best Buy doesn't do half stars, giving it 3. I think it's very much your mileage may vary though but I got enough out of it but not enough to recommend it to everyone (no sleep improvement). It takes some discipline to commit to using each day. So don't expect first-day miracles. If you're not getting enough sunshine, your working from your basement and don't get enough natural light, etc. then the Lumine Therapy Lamp is worth trying.
I would let a friend borrow it first before totally recommending you buy it.
PS. A little tip, I didn't notice at first but there's an attachment in the box to help the lamp stand upright. You need to attach it first.

Invigorating Light!

Thought this would be more of a gimmick than anything else, but boy was I surprised at what a little bit of intense lighting can do for you in the morning! I am not a morning person by nature, much more of a night owl, so getting up & getting energized in the morning is always a process for me. Snoozing my alarm is a regular part of my extended wake-up process, and I've become accustomed to it. I tried using this light in the morning consistently for a few weeks, and I actually did away with the snooze routine within the first couple of days of use. I still stay up later than I probably should, but my sleep has become deeper, to the extent that I feel much more rested and energized throughout the day, no doubt due to the invigorating light this thing kicks out.
I also use it for when I'm Zoom calling from my office at work (which is currently only one day a week) since my office has lots of natural sunlight that makes lighting adjustment with my web cam challenging. This is bright enough to amp up the overall lighting near me enough for it to register on my camera in spite of the natural lighting outside. My office has very dim lights and does not have blinds or curtains, so my camera is awful and always misreads the natural lighting of the room, making me look like a shadow on screen without this lamp.
The lamp looks very nice and has a few different lighting levels. Its big enough to provide effective lighting, but small enough to place it just about anywhere you can supply it with power. It almost looks like a picture frame at first glance.
I'd recommend this for the help with energizing you at the start of your day, and just as a lamp with great lighting for video calls (or just in general if you can use a stylish lamp somewhere in your home). I personally did not feel any impact or change to my natural inclination to stay up late, so it didn't appear to impact that part of my circadian rhythm, but it works better than I expected in general, and I would say that I do sleep more deeply and wake more energized since I've been using this, in spite of still staying up late. Its a solid, and very bright lamp.

Good for Winter Time

Being a light sleeper, I’m always on the look for things that help me to keep asleep during the night and awake during the day. I’m positive this can be very helpful but you do have to wait for the winter to really benefit from the light therapy it offers…unless you have to get up too early even for the summer time. I get up at around 5:30 in the morning and by then, it’s already bright enough outside during this time of the year. So my experience was not completely valid. I felt it helped a little but nothing extraordinary given the circumstances.
It doesn’t look odd like other similar lights do. It definitely won’t be an eyesore no matter where you place it. Being free of UV, you can be assured it won’t cause any damage to your eyes or skin. I would still recommend not staring directly at it since it is rated as 10,000 LUMENS.
The only issue that I have with it is that it doesn’t have any type of timer. I believe it would be best if it turned itself on at a specific time and slowly brightened itself until it reached full brightness. That way, it could assist in waking you up while providing the light therapy.
I really wanted to give it four or five stars but without those features I can’t. For the price, though, it is worth a try, especially for those that are affected by winter blues. It might also help those that need to wake up too early in the morning and have a hard time getting energized that early.

I wish there were more simplistic directions included with this light. Maybe like a quick visual diagram to explain more. It does comes with a small booklet with information but it only confused me? After I read online and watched their video then I was more educated on the purpose of the light and when to use it.
This light is very refined and you cannot actually see individual led light bulbs its more of a solid light then maybe most people are used. The directions state you should use this light in the morning to help you start your day and start your day with balance. This light will be great for your desk; however, remember the light is positioned to be pointed at you by an angle or side (not directly at you) to help you in the morning. I work in an office with no natural light or windows so this helps me. After awhile I do shut the light off as I find it to be much to be used all day. The directions does recommend the light to be used in the morning so I will stick with this method.

I found the premise this Circadian light therapy light very interesting and was interested to see if it would be useful for me, especially for waking up early in the mornings.
This product includes the light, stand, power cord, and instruction manual. The instruction manual doesn't provide much information on what it actually does or the real benefits. It's very easy to use, simply plug in and press the front button, there are two different options.
I've tried using this in the mornings, especially on those that I have to wake up very early. I am definitely not a morning person so I wanted to see how it would work. So far, I do feel that it helps provide more energy and an easier way to wake up.
Fair warning, it's VERY bright and you shouldn't look directly at it and avoid using around young kids.

From the get-go, this Circadian Optics Bright Light Therapy Lamp - Lumine Edition - interested me. I already have a ‘sleep lamp’ (from a different company), which I use faithfully every night, that has helped me with my sleep issues. So, I was hopeful that this ‘therapy lamp’ would prove useful, as well.
First off - *Review the instructions!* The included User Guide is extremely helpful!
There’s really not much to the lamp itself. Just plug in and use it. The one button controls the three levels of light intensity - high, medium, low. However, I did have some trouble getting the simple stand to slide in place, but it’s for sure staying put. As for the lamp’s size, it won’t take up a lot of room.
*Caution!* - The light, on its highest settings, IS extremely bright! So do not stare directly into the lamp light if you value your eyesight.
As I’d mentioned, I suffer with poor sleep. Even insomnia. Some nights I feel tired, yet have difficulty falling asleep, and wake up feeling as though I’ve not gotten any rest. That’s one of the reasons I’d wanted to give this Lumine Therapy Lamp a try. Besides that, I’m fascinated with learning about technology such as this.
I grew up in the Northeast. Speaking from my own personal experience winters were oftentimes bitterly cold, the sky gray and dismal, with few sunshiny days. I could totally see the use for this therapy lamp for people lacking the opportunity to enjoy natural sunlight.
That said, I could also see this Lumine Lamp being of particular benefit for those people who work all day at an office, such as in a windowless cubby. Particularly when needing a break from staring at a computer screen or dull, drab walls. Even a bit of indirect light can make all the difference.
It’s going to take some time to see if this Circadian Optics Bright Light Therapy Lamp will help me with my sleep issues, perhaps provide a boost of energy or improve my moods (as I also suffer from depression). If nothing else, the lamp will provide an additional light source beyond the main benefits it’s been designed for.

Lamp is great, but get medical advice before use

(I’ve received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review. Also - and I cannot emphasize this enough - please talk to your doctor before using any medical device. Because of this, I’m only reviewing the product and not it’s effects on me as, with any medical device, your milage may vary.)
The Circadian Optics Lumine light therapy lamp is the equivalent of bottled sunshine. It’s easy to set up, easy to use, and solidly constructed. Thanks to its LED light source, it stays relatively cool and draws little power, especially for as bright as it is.
Setup is simple - pop open the box, place the tabs for the base in the back of the light panel, and connect the power supply. Usage is also simple - aim it at your face from an angle so the light will enter your eyes but not blind you, then use the touch-sensitive power/brightness button to set the light to your desired brightness. Once your therapy session is done, turn it off.
Is there anything I would change with this lamp? Yes, but they’re not serious flaws. I’d like to see the panel mountable to a height-adjustable stand, and the ability to track therapy time and adjust brightness via an app would be nice; even better would be that the app connects with your doctor or therapist’s office and you can get adjustments as needed between visits on brightness and therapy length. However, I realize these things would only make the device more expensive, so maybe in a future higher-end model?
Otherwise, the Lumine is a great little light therapy lamp. Circadian Optics did well with this device in every regard, including price.
Do I recommend this? Yes, but make sure you get a recommendation to use light therapy from a medical professional first.

This lamp does exactly what it says it will do. It is rather bright on the lowest setting and will keep you awake. All you have to out of the box is plug it in and attach the stand. The stand is little hard to snap on but once installed it seems to hold very well. You have three brightness settings and the lowest is the one I prefer. It is still bright at this setting and you do not want it pointed right at your face. It stays cool under operation and is compact enough to take anywhere you wish to turn into a bright day. Even in a very bright room it shines extremely bright.

This light was compact yet bright. Working from home, my room isn't very bright so this definitely helped me out. I noticed that once I started to use this I felt awake earlier than usual. I definitely needed more light just didn't realize it. It's lightweight and small enough that it didn't take up much room on my desk which I liked since it's cluttered already. Very happy with the light.
