Great way to communicate in the mountains

They work as expected and handy when cellphone reception is spotty at best. Probably will use these on upcoming hiking trips as a precaution in case we get separated.

Owned for 4 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased these more for fun than anything, allowing myself and my two kids to each have one around the house and for playing outside etc. There are many factors that can cause interference and range-reduction, but in my experience the range was only about 100 yards with minimal obstruction. It may be an issue only with my units, or perhaps another explanation for greater signal-interference specific to my house/yard, but I ended up returning.

Range will vary depending on obstructions (to include being inside a house / vehicle), terrain, interference from other users, atmospheric noise, battery level and power output of the radio.
